This album was AMAZING and criminally overlooked. 93 was a fucking SHIT time to release an album like this. it was 6 years too late or 15 years too early.
Definitely! Also an influence on alot of modern metal, even way back as far as Korns first album I heard their influence though. Nobody mentions it. It's like Primus never claiming influence from King Krimson and always saying Rush. A joke to those who heard King Krimson but not to those who hadn't.
Back in 1998 finally bought this Screams and Whispers on cassette with affordable price. A year before, I got the Manic Impressions cassette with nice price too
Should have been a classic. One of the most underrated metal bands of all time!! So frustrating! Kenn Nardi's double solo album, "Dancing with the past" is REALLY worth the purchase too - it is literally packed with outstanding metal tracks - this guy hasn't lost his touch, that's for sure!
This song almost killed me...Went to the record shop in 1993, just heard the opening riff and the melody (it was the opener of Screams and whispers) and bought instantly the CD. Still remained one of my alltime favourite album.
I heard this song back in my youth in the 1990's and saw the video on tv here in Canada on a program called the Power hour on much music and it prompted me to go buy the album 👍🤘
My parents went to USA in 1994 and they brought me this CD and almost immediately this album became one in my list to survive that nightmare called high school. These vocal of Kenn Nardi and the lyrics are unique.
I believe! Btw, unpopular opinion, maybe: Depressive Age: 'lying in wait' has a similar melodic-thrash-whatever approach, album-wise, or track-wise Channel Zero with 'No light'...or Dark Angel 'Darkness descends', of course, 'Alyson hell', Annhiliator, Forte, ...it's this special atmospheric melodic twist that makes these bands special :)
I was lucky enough to see Anacrusis open for Megadeth in Tulsa. I was absolutely blown away by their performance. After the show, they were hanging outside the venue. My friends and I got to talk with them. Anacrusis were criminally underrated. I became a lifelong fan that night. Kenn Nardi is a freakin genius. His solo work is incredible.
These guys are from bridgeton Missouri, grew up in the same neighborhood. Will never forget their show at the bridgeton community center. There very early demo stuff is a lot harder, wish they had CDs back then. I wore out my cassette copy.
My ex wife worked briefly with him around Christmas of 2002, I talked to him at the Christmas party then seen him at the forbidden show in st Louis in 2011.
I wish I could have see Anacrusis live... discovered them totally by accident one day around 1996 while browsing the discount tapes at the music store.Picked up "Screams and Whispers" for $5.99 and was so amazed how good the album was I went back and bought up every copy I could find of the album so I could pass it around to friends.
My roommate in college loved them and drug me to one of their shows in 1991 or 1992 at Mississippi Nights (we were in St. Louis where they were from). They had one song I liked, I love the world. But I remember them playing this song Sound the Alarm. It was a pretty wild show, I ironically would probably enjoy more now even though I would be the old guy in the room these days.
I got this in the early 90's threw BMG music they sent me monthly metal tapes. Before the internet. I loved this group. Fond memories of a casset player and headphones. randomly this song popped in my head when i found the old tape and i have no tape player. , so i looked online.. and jamming this again after so many many years! now it still kicks ass!
this song have that attractive riff that stuck in my head and won't get out, and I ain't gonna let it fade..it's an awesome song of a great band...too bad all of this great stuff has happen when I was a drooling baby! but song owns as much as it did back then!!!!!! \m/
Actually they do :) Their lead singer/songwriter Kenn Nardi released a double-cd album that sounds just like and as good as this one. The record's name is "Dancing With The Past", look it up !
Lie to me honestly I hear, but still, I don't see Just where the actions meet the words You just sound the alarm Racing pulse and boiling blood At fever-pitch Another finger-pointing mob With stones to throw But if it truly mattered And if you truly cared It would be altogether different Let the sirens scream But leave me alone to decide And leave me to what I might find Starving to understand You swallowed the lies Eager to spit them out To feed the masses And the guilt they hide Answer me honestly No more false transparencies Just where does motive meet concern? You just sound the alarm Spreading fear to bury trust To distract Until, lost and scared Frustration forces blame Starving to understand You swallowed the lies Eager to spit them out To feed the masses And the guilt they hide Answer me honestly No more false transparencies Just where does motive meet concern? You just sound the alarm Spreading fear to bury trust To distract Until, lost and scared Frustration forces blame Sound the alarm! Sound the alarm! Sound the alarm! Sound the alarm! Starving to understand You swallowed the lies Choking to spit them out To rid this guilt inside
Nice guys! Seen them years ago in a very small club in Salisbury Beach Massachusetts. Kenn Nardi is cool as shit. Bunch of bands played that night. He hung out with use meatheads" till it was time for him and the band to play. Crazy cool!
I remember these guys. Saw them open for Megadeth in Tulsa, July of 1991. All I recall was the name and that some guy had a mohawk (I think.) Also, whoever the opener was going to be had dropped out. They must have filled the slot. All the seats had flyers about the band on them when we came in.
@@christophermuller7842 same here, Diamond Ballroom. I talked to Kenn after the show, he was hanging by the soundboard. He told me and another guy how to order their album "Manic Impressions". I remember their song "paint a picture" and how crazy the pit was.
my ex wife worked with him briefly . I met him at the Christmas party and we talked about tours and other bands. I ran into him again at the forbidden show in june of 2011 at the fubar.
ANACRUSIS AT ALCATRAZ FESTIVAL 27/08/2011 Deinze (Belgium) ALCATRAZ FESTIVAL 27/08 IN BRIELPOORT DEINZE : HELLOWEEN - DEATH ANGEL - FORBIDDEN - HELSTAR - ANACRUSIS - VICIOUS RUMORS - AFTER ALL..
Can we all just agree that Anacrusis were one of the most underrated metal bands of all time?
no doubt
Saw them open up for Merciful Fate way back in the day and they blew me the fuck away. Would love to see them live again.
They still are. Playing a three part evening on December 7, 2019 at Delmar Hall in Saint Louis w all original members from each album.
Absolutely
You are so right!!
One of the most interesting bands I heard, and I heard a lot.
It is 2024 and I am still listening to this album regularly. Thank you Kenn for the great music!
This album was AMAZING and criminally overlooked. 93 was a fucking SHIT time to release an album like this. it was 6 years too late or 15 years too early.
Exactly. Trust me in the 21st century this band would have reached almost Metallica levels of success
That's about as accurate of a statement as there ever was.
..i still think this band was ahead of their time..
Definitely! Also an influence on alot of modern metal, even way back as far as Korns first album I heard their influence though. Nobody mentions it. It's like Primus never claiming influence from King Krimson and always saying Rush. A joke to those who heard King Krimson but not to those who hadn't.
&so under-known...I lukt the fuck by chance,n'like 96-97
2020: Still true.
Back in 1998 finally bought this Screams and Whispers on cassette with affordable price.
A year before, I got the Manic Impressions cassette with nice price too
Kenn Nardi is one of the best songwriters of his peers, and it's a shame he doesn't really get that recognition more.
Not sure how I’ve lived 30+ years as a metal fan and didn’t know of this band until September 2022, but here I am and I love it.
Just a random stranger thanking you for the recommendation. I just found this band today. \m/
awesome band, nobody sounds like anacrusis.
But many would want to
This song almost killed me...Went to the record shop in 1993, just heard the opening riff and the melody (it was the opener of Screams and whispers) and bought instantly the CD. Still remained one of my alltime favourite album.
I'm still listening to this album 27 years later...
I heard this song back in my youth in the 1990's and saw the video on tv here in Canada on a program called the Power hour on much music and it prompted me to go buy the album 👍🤘
Anacrusis was so fucking genius... they came before their time... for what it's worth, i still listen to Anacrusis.
right!
Same here in ATX 🍻🎸🎶🥩
My parents went to USA in 1994 and they brought me this CD and almost immediately this album became one in my list to survive that nightmare called high school. These vocal of Kenn Nardi and the lyrics are unique.
I have hundreds, maybe thousands of favorite songs and believe me when I say that this is one of the best songs ever recorded.
Truly one of the most underappreciated bands ever. Anacrusis and The Urge made me proud to be from St. Louis in the 90's.
I believe!

Same! I was browsing underground music in a record store and came across their first cassette. I bought it on a whim and loved it.
One of my favourite albums of all time.
Fine melodies, cool riffs, amazing vocal.
Awesome Band, Bar None! 🤘
I bought the CD in 1994. As a young teenager in Sweden i found it really unique. One of my all time favourite records still to this day
I forgot how good this song was/is. Gave me goosebumps 😵💫
fuck I love this song....double bass soaring solos. the vocals daaaam.....
I got this in the early 90's threw BMG music they sent me monthly metal tapes. Before the internet. I loved this group. Fond memories of a casset player and headphones. randomly this song popped in my head when i found the old tape and i have no tape player. , so i looked online.. and jamming this again after so many many years! now it still kicks ass!
i love the sound and look in this video....,timeless eternal music...created something special
Anacrusis rule forever in the American metal undergound! ....they are back right before the end of the world....
this song have that attractive riff that stuck in my head and won't get out, and I ain't gonna let it fade..it's an awesome song of a great band...too bad all of this great stuff has happen when I was a drooling baby! but song owns as much as it did back then!!!!!! \m/
Love some Anacrusis!
me 3hree
Brilliant! Beautiful sound. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
Actually they do :) Their lead singer/songwriter Kenn Nardi released a double-cd album that sounds just like and as good as this one. The record's name is "Dancing With The Past", look it up !
That voice! \m/
Дико недооценненая банда, музыка высочайшего уровня.
Got the vynil of this criminally underrated masterpiece
I haven't heard this in ages. Who is listening to this in 2021
Masterpiece
Oh, the 90s. How unfortunate I wasn't alive earlier to enjoy those awesome times.
blast this loud on a good system now!
I thought, I listened before to great music only, but these guys showed me that I was wrong
Lie to me honestly
I hear, but still, I don't see
Just where the actions meet the words
You just sound the alarm
Racing pulse and boiling blood
At fever-pitch
Another finger-pointing mob
With stones to throw
But if it truly mattered
And if you truly cared
It would be altogether different
Let the sirens scream
But leave me alone to decide
And leave me to what I might find
Starving to understand
You swallowed the lies
Eager to spit them out
To feed the masses
And the guilt they hide
Answer me honestly
No more false transparencies
Just where does motive meet concern?
You just sound the alarm
Spreading fear to bury trust
To distract
Until, lost and scared
Frustration forces blame
Starving to understand
You swallowed the lies
Eager to spit them out
To feed the masses
And the guilt they hide
Answer me honestly
No more false transparencies
Just where does motive meet concern?
You just sound the alarm
Spreading fear to bury trust
To distract
Until, lost and scared
Frustration forces blame
Sound the alarm!
Sound the alarm!
Sound the alarm!
Sound the alarm!
Starving to understand
You swallowed the lies
Choking to spit them out
To rid this guilt inside

31st dec 2024... Yeah .. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

That opening band was supposed to be Alice In Chains belive it or not...I saw the same tour in Oklahoma City

Utterly priceless and timeless🖤🖤🖤
and this amazing GOD OF ANACRUSIS
KENN NARDI is still putting out new material!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Truly a great album!
my ex wife worked with him briefly . I met him at the Christmas party and we talked about tours and other bands. I ran into him again at the forbidden show in june of 2011 at the fubar.
que tiempos aquellos!
Kenn predated everyone with the half shaved haircut.
I thought Phil Anselmo had it first?
Not really. Blacky from VOIVOD did before him
Big fan back in the day!
Очень интересная композиция и исполнители, однако! Жаль, что я их раньше не услышал...
Глянь ещё Disaffected. Тоже о-очень сильно неооценённая группа, правда, у них и альбом-то один, зато какой.
This album proved that thrash metal could be emotionally charged without dropping one iota of savagery.
Dunno about how underrated they are. I do rate them pretty high personally :)
Love this video, still my favorite song of all time.
the reason I ever learned to play an instrument was THIS song. still the shit!!!
#WindmillHeadbang
Let The Metal Flow!
Dog love this song. Even after all these years it still rings with relevance.
First saw this on a Rock Video Monthly vhs tape I had. Loved it ever since
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
man THANK YOU vin and sori for introducing me to this lol
Yes!
Still a great band.
Picked up a bass guitar off there bassist recently, dudes super cool .
Cant help but wonder how King Diamond would fare doing this cover:)
Best prog thrash metal
zajebisty kawałek !
good song
3 Words: Rock Video Monthly! 😈
is it posible to criticise this song, or the album? i do not think so.
Well, you can look at some reviews on the internet :D
Creía que se habían separado, pero me he enterado que siguen, que suerte. Gracias
I fucking love this song!
love
11:11 ----Sound the Alarm!!!
Fuckin anacrusis, I have a sick patch and a poster of manic impressions
This, thought industry and coroner still slap
I went to see U2 in 1987 with John!
Охуеть ...вот это бомба
Far too underrated band!
The American version of Coroner \m/
And maybe even better :).
Gacho melodic crunching guitar playing.
Очень недооценённая группа.
