I'm just not a fan of the wheel gap. The non Z51 Stingrays don't look too bad and honestly it may be all of the Stingrays but the C7 GS, Z06 and ZR1 have too much wheel gap. Just my opinion although I know many other C7 owners that feel the same way which is why many of them add larger wheels. But that can present another issue so unfortunately there's no perfect fix for those of us that do not care for it.
I believe that the engineers for the Corvette know more than I do about setting up the suspension for great handling. Therefore I'm leaving the settings on my ZO6 as they came from the factory. I know that there will be those that disagree. John
I definitely don't disagree but since I will not be tracking it I'm not too worried. Keith at Corvette World actually discourages installing larger wheels but people do it all the time. I have zero issues with people that leave theirs stock, I just prefer this look. Anyway, hope you're having a good Monday. Thanks for watching.
@Brian Stafford You realize how many people lower their Vettes and how many people increase the wheel size? If it was a really bad thing to do, it wouldn't be such a common thing. I'm not stressing over it. Everyone has to do what they think is right for them.
GM actually recommends a slight drop to improve track performance on the ZR1, it’s in the manual. As someone who tracks a Z51 I went with smaller wheels to save weight. I lowered mine but had to go back up slightly to avoid rubbing. However I am running wider tires and different offset from factory. The wheel gap on these cars does look bad, my brothers 911 is way more tucked looking from the factory.
😮Yes. I don’t blame you. I’ve been lucky. I go in to almost every driveway parallel then cut upward. Seems to work most places. Of course sometimes that’s not an option.
You visit Corvette World so often that, they should give you an assigned parking space with signage - LOL....keep the excellent content coming! PS: Have the ACS XL front & rear rock guards on my C7 Z06/Z07 and I agree....wonderful parts - worth every penny!!
Thanks, Jay! And I 100% agree. We're lucky to have Corvette World. My friend Justin from Horsepower Obsessed who lives up in PA tells me this all the time.
You're right, GS and Z06 don't lower as much as Stingrays on stock bolts. GM decided that track monsters need more suspension travel. Does it need that much gap for any other time? Probably not. Drive it around carefully like you already do, and enjoy the improved looks. For those that worry about scraping, just raise yours to the max and remove the lower aero bits.
I cheated to close up my wheel gap on my '17 GS Z07. Kept the stock ride height, but when it came time to replace the Pilot Sport Cup tires, I got Continental Extremes in 35 aspect ratio instead of the stock size 30's. The slightly taller sidewalls closed up the gaps front and rear, gave a slightly higher ride height to reduce scrapes, tiny bit more compliant ride with minimal reduction in sharp turn-in (it's a street car after all). Nothing rubs and the wheel wells look full.
The under tray and splitter are 1 piece and I added sliplo to the front area near the edge. Curbed it immediately the same day and did virtually no damage.
Nice!! I always scrape a little in my driveway. Hoping the sliplo keeps me from scratching the splitter. I bet you're glad you did it as well. Did you get an alignment done after?
@@FrontSeatDriver my driveway is a bit sketch too but at a 90 degree angle i can do it no problem but wouldnt be able to come in straight thats for sure. and no i didnt get it aligned, im not too worried about that..

I finally got my 2019 C7 GS lowered by Keith @ Corvette World😁, just keeping you updated, also I was seeing if you would want to meet up one day since we in the DFW area, maybe we could cruise together….let me knw😎💯🔥👍🏾
I really want to but they're still so far above msrp. Ultimately I want a Z06 anyway and when I sell the C8 Stingray I'm going to lose a lot of money so I likely won't get one. I kinda regret not putting a deposit on one when they were first coming out. Oh well...live and learn.
So how much did it cost to lower it like that? What did you do to actually lower it? I’m curious? It looks sharp. Something I might want to do to mine when I get it. Love it. Appreciate the video and info. Thank you. ✌🏻
It cost me about $100 to lower it. It's pretty easy. They just turn a screw basically that lowers the car. No lowering springs or anything extra needed. One of the bolts that allows for lowering got stuck so we could only lower it about a half of an inch in front instead of 3/4". He said that happens sometimes.
Hey buddy - I was at Corvette World planning to lower my C7 Z06 - post a discussion with Keith and team - I have questions for you before I do it - what material effects have your ride quality and handling had post the lowering? I am on sport suspension setting all the time and do not like the bone jarring will of track suspension setting - does lowering make it feel stiffer due to reduced suspension travel? Did you notice any changes in handling and cornering ability ? Any other concern? And by the way love the videos - subscribed already - love to see folks from DFW making such awesome content.
Thank you sir! I had mine lowered on stock bolts and I had an alignment done shortly after. I normally drive in Touring mode unless I’m driving fast and want better handling. The ride is pretty rough either way in my opinion but I haven’t noticed any real difference in comfort or drive ability. I think it looks much better too. My wife’s Camaro drives tougher than my C7 even after lowering. I highly recommend. Thanks again for watching. Let me know if you have any other questions.
I don't know the % unfortunately. I bought this car used and it was already on there. The night visibility isn't terrible but I already have issues driving in the dark. I still do it but I don't love it.
I just got an '18 GS with only 3k miles. It's getting a pro charger right now. I should be faster than a stock z06. And my insurance is still based on the GS.
Congrats on the car !Be careful though with the insurance. I've heard they can possibly deny your coverage if there's an issue and they find out it has been modded. Might not make enough difference for them to care but NCM was specific about this with me. And honestly, it wouldn't make that much of a cost difference on your insurance. I had a GS before my Z06. The Lambo is what hits my pocket book. What color did you get?
Great mods. I would also like to suggest getting wheel spacers so your wheels and tires are closer to the edge of the wheel well. I makes it look more flush. Maybe 1/4" spacers, no more than that though.
I thought I would but I actually don't. I kinda thought not having the blue interior would be disappointing but I really like this car. Mostly because it's a manual but I love the yellow so much I don't even miss the blue interior. How are you Clarence? Are you loving the C8? I think it's really starting to grow on me.
Nice video, first time watcher. I’ll have to check out your GS issues. I’m guessing you had the limited edition with the blue interior? That car and your yellow Z will be my 2 choices as soon as these prices decide to settle down. Too crazy right now. Beautiful car!!
