I think we can safely say this video sets the UA-cam record for number of times the words flatwood and monster are used…another great video! I’m hungry for that calzone sandwich. Yep
I have lived in WV for 11 years now and never knew of these museums. My daughter will love them. We will have to take a road trip once she is out of school.
Fallout 76 is okay. It has gotten better. I was unaware of what the Flatwoods Monster was when I first ran into one in the game. Have run into Mothman there too. It will hunt you, whereas the Flatwoods Monster seems to be ready to leave you alone if you leave it alone. The game itself gets a bit repetitive, and really seems to push you to work with others, which is sort of against the usual Fallout style of being the lone wanderer. Steam does a free trial from time to time, and you can check out the whole game in those trials.
West Virginia has to have working public phones because of mountains blocking cellphone reception. My cousin has lived in Heaters her whole life which is a mile up the road neither her or others has seen the monster. I feel they saw something then It got exaugurated.
I go thru Flatwoods and Point Pleasant all the time! In Fallout 76 lol...You even get to fight Mothmen and Flatwoods monters if you find them...it being set in West Virginia is awesome...
Fallout 76!! It's not as good as some of the earlier versions but, its got some fun stuff. The first version where you can play with other players. As for the cryptids, I've seen the Flatwoods monster a few times. He hasn't been very friendly and usually appears in the evening time. It will stand and observe you and if you get too close it will either runaway or attack. The game takes place 200 years after a big nuclear war so, you do encounter many mutations. One such is the Mothman. There are 2 versions of him and his offspring. There are many bad ones but, you can meet the original friendly one on certain evenings by a light house and get your photo with him. (i'm not sure if the lighthouse exists in the real WV). One other really bad Cryptid that you could encounter is a Wendigo. If you are not well armed, avoid it. If you do decide to get the game, stay on the west side of WV, until you can level up a bit. Things get meaner the farther east you travel.
Fallout 76 has Mothman, The Flatwoods Monster, The Grafton Monster, and Windigo (and others). The game is fine, it got a lot of hate for no reason, especially from people who didn't actually play it, or played the Beta before release then decided not to continue with it. People said it had too many bugs, but it has no more bugs than any other Bethesda game. CyberPunk 2077 had more issues than Fallout 76 and it didn't get half the hate.
Jacob don't forget the Western NC Bigfoot Festival in May in Marion, NC (Close to home!). Also, I think the "Philly" refers to the Philadelphia Experiment (which wasn't aliens, just allegedly para-normal lol).
Fallout 76 is a complicated game for sure! But chances are you could find a cheap copy, and might enjoy exploring the post-apocalyptic West Virginia. It has lots of real life locations like flat woods, point pleasant, Helvetia. It is an online game but you could play through the entire story and never worry about the other people playing. I think it's worth your time to check it out.
It's fallout 76 that has the flatwoods monster and mothman in it. It was terrible when it started out but they have fixed a lot of the problems with it. Still is the worst of the main fallout games. But that's like saying someone is the poorest billionaire. It's still pretty damned good. I'd recommend giving it a try
You probably came through my town of Beckley, WV on your way there. We have an exhibition coal mine you should check out. I’ll buy you lunch if you are ever in town. Point Pleasant has an annual Mothman Festival to check out and a museum. Great video! Safe travels!
Has the Flatwoods monster been back since 1952? Likely it was just looking for an intergalactic Stuckeys to stop at to use the john and maybe pick up a pecan log?
I believe I saw it in a forest behind my house in northwest PA around 1966. It was metallic and had a metal skirt, arms and head, and pointy "crown". It chattered angrily at me in a robotic way. I ran screaming back to my house and never told anyone what I saw.
Hey man! I saw you today at Billy Bob's Wonderland. I was too nervous to say hi but it was cool seeing you! I was the dude in the black and green BBWL hoodie recording with the red phone!
When I was a kid, I found a ufo/alien book in the local public library. It talked about aliens with outfits like that. I will have to see if they still have that book, I can't remember the title or author but it was old to me like 24 years ago.
The Fallout game with the cryptids is Fallout 76, initially it reviewed very poorly as it lacked NPCs and was very very glitchy which has been mostly fixed and updated now, it is however intended to be played with others online so won't be as smooth storywise as say 3 or New Vegas. If you just want to see the parts specific to each Cryptid search out a channel called Oxhorn, he's documented to quests and storylines for each which you can watch at your leisure rather than trying to play through. Also I think they went Philly with the beef option as only place that comes to mind UFO wise associated with it is Skinwalker ranch and that just sounds a bit grim.
Living 4 hours or so from there its crazy I have never heard of this monster at all.Yea the Mothman really stole his glory with a Hollywood Mothman movie to rub it in.
Loved the alien themed sandwiches! 👽✨🥪 The artwork on the flatwoods monster are cool and reminds me of glowing pumpkins. Laughed at you saying, "Yellow.....like a cat's eyes!" 😹 I always love the museum tours and anything alien related. Thanks again Jacob for making my day brighter ☀️ You're my favourite UA-camr. Best wishes 💖
The food there, makes me want to try out the different variants of food they sell and make. They look and sound delicious! Also: the town, almost looks like a clone of my own town lol
If that Creature/being was truly a visitor from WAY out of town. One can only wonder what her or his descendants must think of A) Being called a Monster, when surely wherever it came from it may be called Mom Or Dad. and B) all the fame , and notoriety he/she or it , has acquired over the years. Makes one wonder if their species has ever thought of going on tour again to Earth. They would be a smash hit today.
So ,..I’m lovin’ this ! I’ve been WV seen Mothman stuff . This is way too good! ,.. where is this in West by Gawd Virginia? I seriously want to book a vacation there but I’m not sure where in West Virginia it is ,… ..So,..frustrating!!
This is awesome. So interesting. I had to watch it twice. I love anything on Bigfoot, Yeti and MothMan but this was really cool. Thank you Jacob. Stay safe. Stay well. Stay blessed.
Wow! That museum is so cool! That lady seems so nice and informative. You could learn a lot from her. I also think those Flatwoods Monster chairs are cool. And the Flatwoods Monster Museum looks cool. I like the different renditions of the monster in the art displays. Well, thanks for sharing! Have a great day!
All these years traveling from Pittsburgh, Pa. To Independence, Va., passing Flatwoods, & Sutton, having traveled Route 19, to I-79, I've never heard of the Flatwoods Monster until now. Interesting. Didn't even know about the Bigfoot either. Kind of makes "1" wonder if your even on the same planet? hehe
Jacob: When you're in upstate NY again you should make your way to Port Henry, the home of Champ. They have a Champ Day in August. Whitehall NY also has a Sasquatch Day too.
If you are ever in Wisconsin this summer, Chippewa Falls is opening a new History Area Museum this Spring. It's located between Irvine Park and Leinenkugel's Brewery. Two other locations I also recommend you check out as well.
Fallout is an awesome game, got a lot of bad rep just for bugs but it’s quite fun to experience WV in a video… even if you just play it to wonder around and look for a mothman x
28:04 I usually dial easy to remember toll free phone numbers from favorite companies for test calls, then hang up once the automated system always answers the call first before I get an agent. I almost forgot, that pay phones exist honestly. lol
*Not* gonna lie. lmao
Dang that flatwoods sandwich looks amazing. I'm watching this too close to lunch I guess, haha
Omg I thought so to. So good
Looks at the sandwhich with two bright, glowing eyes.

In Ohio we call those sandwiches “wedgies”. Every pizza shop has them.

Wow a working pay phone! That's as elusive (if not more) as bigfoot!

Right up the road from me. Good to see you here again!
The woman museum docent was really great 👍 @ WV Bigfoot Museum. She was so knowledgeable, helpful and enthusiastic. Thank You, Jacob!

You should have called Adam the Woo using the pay phone! He loves them too. You would’ve made his day!
We have always wanted to go to a bigfoot museum. Going to try to go to the one in Blue Ridge, GA soon.
Lol I love how that lady talks like the " The Old Man of the Mountain" AKA. Big FOOT is something real.

Beautiful artwork from recycled materials
Omg a pay phone that works! Almost as rare as a Bigfoot sighting! Lol
i thought that was spider man on your hat, cool never knew. great job Jacob
I really liked it when you had the "Choose my Trip" episodes and we got to vote where you went next.
AHHHH you’re not far from me! It’s so cool to see you around here!
I can’t believe I’m actually early for once
Love it when you document points of interest in my home state! Get a biscuit from Tudor’s!

Yeah! Lol
It's fallout 76 that has the flatwoods monster and mothman in it.
