Perfect. I was considering the purchase of a plug-in that lets you experiment with cord progressions and then gives you guides based on that to rapidly build out complexity, but I thought to myself that their MUST be a way to see ghosted tracks behind the part that you are editing. After poking around in logic for a day or two and not finding it, I decided I would need to set aside some time to do some research. But then like magic your video popped up in my feed (I had not yet begun to look for a method). This is exactly what I needed to know so that I can streamline building out parts. Thanks!

@@itstonyholiday Sure! Like the rules for the "1 3 5"? Do we do the "1 3 5" for all chords?

    • @itstonyholiday
      @itstonyholiday  4 роки тому

Shawn Chen Chords are typically made up of 3 notes, however they do not have to be 1 3 5. 1 3 5 are the numbers coinciding with the notes in the major scale and happen to make up a major chord. Best way to learn this I would say is search up “basic music theory/chord structure” on UA-cam. There’s guaranteed to be some great videos that can explain it better than me! Thanks again

Start MIDI Region - Press T then P
Open MIDI Region - Double Press T then Press E
1:06 Turn Loop Function On - Press C
1:21 Set Time Quantize to 1/1 Note
    1:27 Open Brush Tool - Press T then B
    1:32 Set Scale

How many notes in a scale + drawing the notes from the scale set before which thanks to logic we can write without THINKING but just clicking randomly
2:12 Replica - Highlight all notes copy one notes away from the last to...uhm, replica (cool, i like the word replica)
2:30 Let's turn these into ghost notes - CMD A to select all the notes, lower the volume to 25, because Christmas comes the 25th, close your piano roll with E and drag it all 4 bars out and adjust the loop pattern while letting the first one out.
2:47 Set another MIDI region as in 0:57
2:54 Now let's SEE GHOSTS - highlight both MIDIs but only double click piano
    3:06 Let's make some chords

How To Reckon Min/Maj Chords looking at a piano roll if we're presented with root based chords (meaning the first note is the base note)
5:41 A WHEN YOU THOUGHT YOUR MAN TONY was done....yeahh - Chord Inversions
PRO TIP: Try your chords moving around the 3rd, that is the second note of the chord, again if we're dealing with a root based chord
6:18 Get the mozart in you OUT and have fun moving notes around finding cool spaces
