I still have my ALICE gear from the early 1990's and it still works great and looks great after 30 years of beating and sweating on it. I have MOLLE too and it is tough to beat also. The thing that I like about both systems is that they can be configured for Fighting Loads or Existence Loads pretty quickly and easily.
Something you didn't mention is if you are trying to stuff the maximum amount of gear on your waste, the Alice system allows pouches to be pushed super close together, closing gaps between pouches. MOLLE cannot do that. If I'm not clear, the Alice system can have so much stuffed on there that the belt is forever curled in a circle. MOLLE you can always lay flat. Not better/worse, just "options."
This is actually a cool upgrade to the ALICE, you're right to see it that way. I started out with the ELBV/ALICE webbing and transitioned to a PLCE/MOLLE type system, just so I could have a back panel to carry a camelbak in addition to my canteens. I could have worn a separate camelbak but I really prefer a one piece set up. Is the chest strap removable?
Nice thorough talk about these Condor products. I also use Condor for some of my gear. Though I'd prefer metal D rings if they were constructed of 7076-T6 aluminum as they're less likely to break than plastic, particularly in cold weather and aluminum won't rust which is an advantage plastic also has. I know some manufactures of MOLLE battle belts with D rings use metal D rings, I'm not sure if anyone is using T6 aluminum. I will say that ATS tactical uses plastic for their battle belts and they are American made. Though they do cost slightly more than the Condor offerings they are quite affordable. I know Karl from Tactical Rifleman recommends them. I ordered an ATS battle belt and also ordered a Condor H harness to go with it. I have an ALICE belt as well as some One Tigris and Cobra type belts any of which will work with these battle belts. Thanks for sharing.
The one I ordered is just like yours. Be here Friday. Can't wait to put it together. Been putting pouches and holsters on the floor rearranging them as you can tell I'm excited. I subscribed so I'll be watching.
Great review brother. Love ALICE but need to upgrade. Last semester used molle vest worked great but felt like cheating. Lol might need to try this out.
Modifying your sleep roll has 2 benefits, cut a section the long way for your alice padding, as a benefit/side effect you end up with a slimmer roll that get caught on less stuff while in brush 👍
Great review of the Condor system. Do you rate the the h-harness system as better than say the condor ronin split front chest rig? I'm going between the 2 styles at the moment. Any feed back would be much appreciated. Nate
I have the recon chest rig. It uses the swivy locks like the ronin. They are fine. I don't like the way I have to put on and take off the recon. The Ronin opens more like the setup in this video so it will be better in that regard. More old school open front design. Easier to don and doff. The harness on the ronin looks like it will fit and feel like a regular h harness which is good. Basically speaking if you like the design of the ronin over the setup in the video, i think you will be happy. Lots of molle and a comfortable h harness style. The ronin won't work with anything that doesn't use swivy locks and that is the one downside I see with the ronin along with more trapped body heat due to the wrap up design. Don't get the recon. It just sticks out too far imo. I got a sweet pawn shop deal on mine though with the hydration harness included so I tried it. I like the hydration harness from condor. Very comfortable but the swivy locks.... not versatile enough for me. That's why I'm considering a new setup from condor like this video. Just more versatility and easier to don and doff. Long ik but maybe it helps ya. Good luck.
Great video I was thinking useing the same setup but useing alice m6 pouches a field pack on the back molle then another on the belt will a condor modular chest rig work overtop thanks
So would you recommend a h harness with battle belt then a condor modular chest rig over top then a assault pack for xtra gear or would it be to much bulk
If you're wearing a chest rig you're not using the shoulder straps. And yes, you're talking too much bulk. The less you can get away with carrying the better.
Sold me when you mentioned 1 Shepard nothing lends more credibility to this review or any review then that.. Prefer the v2 version that works with an inner belt

Exactly what I was wanting answered. Thanks for getting straight to the point.

The ability to attach a hydration carrier is a huge advantage over ALICE

Thanks. It’s some good stuff.
Thank you very much for this review, and explanation !!!
Wow blast from the 90s
And early 2000s. I joined in '05 and ALICE was still issued in OSUT.

You can attach molle gear to ALCE with ALICE Clips and if that bothers you, they make Molle adaptors for an ALICE belt.
I still run a Prc- 177
Amazing review, very clear
Solid info. Thanks.
Thanks for the vid… can you post the name or a link for your drop leg extension thanks
Can you wear a plate carrier over that harness ?
You would need to have the Plate carrier under it and wear the Harness on top
Everyone is different, but wearing webbing over armor is not something I care for. I haven't made it work well for me yet.
So would you recommend a h harness with battle belt then a condor modular chest rig over top then a assault pack for xtra gear or would it be to much bulk
Or is there a mod to attach a chest rig to the harness then maybe a strapless assault pack to the shoulder molle ?
If you're wearing a chest rig you're not using the shoulder straps. And yes, you're talking too much bulk. The less you can get away with carrying the better.
Canteens don't leak. Know from personal experience the hard way.
Do you have any pros and cons to H harness vs a Y harness?
Either works for me.
H harness with MOLLE allows attachment of CamelBak. Alice not so much.
If you could somehow attach chest rig to that harness, that could be great
You can. Instead of strapping to a belt system, put 1” swift clips on the webbing and clip in your chest rig. Trim off any excess webbing.
@@perrytheplatypus7403 interesting idea. Thank you sir
