Yes teacher, from now on, your explanation + examples will be written on one of my spaced repetition card in order to be fixed just the way you explained it.
I was so messed up with this and this video helped me so much with this preferences..I am going to take exams about preferences but I wanted to thank you for this 20 minutes:)

Ohhh wow, I am so happy to know that it helped you. It is a confusing topic and that is why I thought it was worth making a video. Thanks a million!
That was the best and most comprehensive teaching content about preferences.🤩🤩 I have just one more question: which structure is correct: I prefer to cook when I'm alone. I prefer cooking when I'm alone. I'd prefer to cook when I'm alone. ? Thanks in advance🌻🌻🌻
Thanks for teaching so splendidly. But one thing I would like to tell that had you focused more on the structure:" would+ rather+other than speaker+V2+other stuff..", it would have been better.
Teacher, can I use " I'd rather driving rather than walking"? Please 🙏
Рік тому
Hi there! That sentence is not entirely correct. You should say “ I’d rather drive than walk “. With “ would rather”, we use the infinitive without “to” and in the second part of the sentence we don’t need to repeat “rather”, we simple use “than” and the infinitive without “to” again. For example, “I’d rather stay at home than go out”, “I’d rather talk to her than text her”. Hope it helps!
Hi There are not mistake at 16 min of the video in the exercice "re-write". In the 3rd phrase it is writing "rather than "with would rather..? This is normal?

Hello there! Yess, sorry about that, it was a typo and didn't realize until one of my subscribers told me in another comment. Thanks for noticing, that means you are really paying attention and really understood the grammar point, well done indeed!

It should be " *I'd rather invest in Portugal than in Brazil".*

Hi, I have a question how it would be with the example I would prefer tea to coffee???🤔
4 роки тому+3
Hi alfredo valencia garcía ! Thanks for stopping by! With “would prefer” it’d be more common to say “i’d prefer tea rather than coffee”. With general preferences we would say “I prefer tea to coffee”, but with specific preferences, it normally goes with “rather than”. I hope it helps!
The 3rd question is quite equivocal because the answer that you have put there is I'D RATHER INVEST IN PORTUGAL (RATHER) THAN IN BRAZIL.. I thought if we use WOULD RATHER, we shouldn't Mention it again?? I think the answer would be: = I'd rather invest in Portugal than in Brazil. Hehe. Hi Angelo! Yes, you are right, the 3rd question should be “I’d rather invest in Portugal than in Brazil”, otherwise it would be repetitive. Sorry about that! I didn’t realize, 😊
@ Thank you for recognizing my comment and thank you helping many people who are struggling with "WOULD PREFER AND WOULD RATHER" like me. Please contunue doing this kind of content that would definitely help and enligten many non-native speakers when it comes in English😊
Actually when you say that you prefer to do something it means that you want to do something at a specific time. Whereas when you say that you prefer doing something it means that you like that habit. Here are two examples:. I prefer to go for a walk in the park rather than stay in home. I prefer going out every day to being lazy.
I prefer walking rather than driving........could that be correct?

Hola Darwin. Como explico en el video las tres se usan para preferencias pero para hablar de lo que prefieres en general usarías “prefer to” para algo mas específico , usarías las otras dos. Si quieres decir “prefiero andar a ir en coche”: I prefer to walk rather than drive. Esto es lo que prefieres siempre de forma general pero si te hicieran la pregunta concreta de “ como preferirías viaje mañana a Madrid” diríamos “I would rather walk than drive / I would prefer to walk rather than drive”. Saludos

Is it necessary to use "to" after rather than. For example, i'd prefer to take a taxi rather than to go to school
Hello! After "rather than" we use the bare infinitive, that is, the infinitive without to, so it should be "rather than go to school".
The 3rd question is quite equivocal because the answer that you have put there is I'D RATHER INVEST IN PORTUGAL (RATHER) THAN IN BRAZIL..
