Sorry if ot, but could you explain why there are some plural noun modifiers when the rule says they have to be used in the singular form? Found examples: sports day, special needs child, kids farm. Thanks!
Dear Mr.Greg, your explanation and presentation of this very topic are the best of all! Thank you very much for all your videos! They are great: correct, informative, easy to understand. And of real help, indeed! Thank you very much.
Hi Greg. I've been teaching my students how to use "prefer" and "would rather" in a rather simpler way -they just know how to use "prefer gerund to gerund", "prefer noun to noun" or "would rather bare inf. than bare inf." Then I realized I might have a difficult time myself if things get a bit more advanced. This was really helpful, thanks a lot.
Your explanations are just super! I prefer your channel to many channels which show up on Internet. You are a great communicator and you make simple structures which are actually complex. That's why I decided to subscribe. I'm also an English teacher in Setúbal, Portugal. Saudações de Portugal!
Oh, this was a really difficult one! As a Norwegian, much of the English grammar is quite similar and comes rather naturally to me, but this was something different, which I don't think we see in our language! I'm confused 🤪🤣 I'll be downloading the work sheet today, definitely! THANK YOU Greg!! ❤❤
I'm not sure at 10:00, "I would prefer you to cook" is right, or at least not how I'd say it. I would say, "I would prefer you cook. I would prefer you do the dishes." Maybe it's an American English difference.
You explain the grammar so lucidly.I have a question that's been on my mind since long.Kindly explain the difference in these sentences 1.I would have loved to go there. 2.I would have loved to have gone there. 3.I had to have gone there. 4.I have to have gone there.(incorrect sentence,I think) Kindly take this question right away.
Wow. I really liked it. Clear, simple. Straight to the point! One remark though. I would rather we had.... As a matter of fact, had here expresses the past subjunctive which is formed with them past tense of the verb.
That's just a great chanell to improve english skills. I've found it accidentally(without taking into consideration a recommendation system from Google 😀) I had been struggling with English all my live as the most not natives who needs English(i believe) then I found an English teacher and she has helped me to improve my skills. For the last year I have been working for an internetional company as an IT manager/Software engineer and the langague became a pretty important part of my work) I can speak, I watch movies in Eglish so on so forth. But anyway sometime I do mistakes and I'm still far from being perfect. This channel is just a great source for me(hope for many other people also) to improve language skills. It's covers a lot of different topics to fill gaps and that's what I actually need on my level. Thank you very much Greg 🙂IMHO you're doing an amazing job Btw not sure if it's presented on the chanell. What's the difference between "work" and "job"? 😀
GREG !!!!, THE BEST ENGLISH-GRAMMAR , TEACHEEEEER !!!!!🫠🥰🫠🥰🫠🥰🥰🥰 THANKS PROF !!!!(CELIA FROM ARGENTINA 🇦🇷)🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧Please !!! I want more lessons like this!!!!! , I APPRECIATE YOUR HELP !!!!
At 0:56, you said "Is there any different between...." Of course, you should have said "Is there any DIFFERENCE between...?" I would have expected an English teacher, and a native one at that, to have got that right.
It's just a slip of the tongue. He was probably in two minds between "is there anything different" and "is there any difference". Native speakers of ALL languages do this from time to time. Not a big deal as it wasn't important to the actual grammar point.
This is a wonderful channel. Congratulations. Could you be so kind to go deeper and teach us how the structures would be if we want to use them with verbs in the negative form with one or two subjects? Thank you very much.
Please can you help, I have a question which is : with " would rather + subject + past tense " if I use "than" , should the verb after "than" be in the past simple too?? Which one is correct : I'd rather you took a taxi than wait or waited for a bus ???
Absolutely great, but what about if i say, you can accompany me but i would rather you stayed at home. Is it correct as the second subject is singular!
Thanks a good way to refresh old things I studied long time. ago. Onlh thing you should have stressed that the 2nd subject in the last sentences it is actually in the form of an object.
Do would rather and prefer same meaning? Can I use both of them with same meaning? And when do I use "than" and "to" which follow "would rather and prefer"?
I have a doubt: at high school, I was taught that "'d" contraction stands for "had" instead of "would" in the structure "I'd rather...". Could you please shed some light?
Hi , Greg . I,m new student when i,m not a student but everyday one can learn a new lesson in various aspects of life. My question is: Do native_ speaking English know these grammers? Do they practice them correctly ? I mean in written English it will be of course important BUT, if one doesn,t speak" it correctly , will people make fun of him/her or it,s just o.k? 😀🌹
Greg.. your lessons are impeccable... thanks a lot for all the effort you put into them.... I learned a lot from your channel and still looking forward to new videos... could you please also in a vidoe talk about the differences between a forest, jungle , and woods .... thanks a zillion
Very useful to me this topic thanks Greg, am from India. Actually we use after than V1. I would rather they emailed than send a letter, in this it should be after "than send" but u put than sent. Please once check, thank you
What a rich lesson, with much to learn! It's so interesting to know all that. But before knowing definitively, It's necessary to remember all very accurately ! = to be rewatched ! I'd prefer to be able to remember once for all! 230812
Leave a comment using one of the new grammar structures from today's lesson! 😀

OK.. Greg things are clearer for me now.. my problem was about the tense agreement. Now I have the patterns I needed. Thanks a lot!
Thank you, Greg. I'd rather, however, start from something simpler. As a Slow Learner I prefer to take off gradually. Stay healthy.
It's a gift, the algorithm led me here. Your explanation is straightforward to understand. Thank you for making your videos.

Thank you so much! A great explanation of an extremely confusing topic. Your scheme is so useful!
Thanks a million! Very useful video, as always!!!
Thanks a good way to refresh old things I studied long time. ago. Onlh thing you should have stressed that the 2nd subject in the last sentences it is actually in the form of an object.
Hai, would you like to teach me about the use of : insist on , please
Do would rather and prefer same meaning? Can I use both of them with same meaning? And when do I use "than" and "to" which follow "would rather and prefer"?
I have a doubt: at high school, I was taught that "'d" contraction stands for "had" instead of "would" in the structure "I'd rather...".
Could you please shed some light?
You were taught incorrectly. "I'd rather" means "I would rather". "I had rather" isn't correct English.
Genius! Thx a lot. Everythink was perfect.!

Thank you very much sir ❤️
I'm Zubair Al mahmud from Bangladesh one of your long time watching views.
Would you mind reaching us how to use "if only" by constructing a sentence? Thanks
That´s helpful, thanks Greg!
Thanks for sharing, mate!
Amazing video! You are great teacher!
is there any structure for the future preferences?
Super good
Hi Greg, is it possible to say “I’d rather you to go there?”
Hi Greg! Can u pls make a new lesson with: have been and has been. Thanks in advance.
The most complicate is using correctly the infinitive and the present participle with the correct prepositions.
this is so helpful
Greg.. your lessons are impeccable... thanks a lot for all the effort you put into them.... I learned a lot from your channel and still looking forward to new videos... could you please also in a vidoe talk about the differences between a forest, jungle , and woods .... thanks a zillion
According to Carol King's Born To Follow: Oh I'd rather go and journey"

I'd rather you as my teacher you are the best one
Nice to meet you.

Hello, why do we use for the past preference the structure WOULD HAVE PREFERED TO DO rather than WOULD PREFER TO HAVE DONE ?
Thank you
What about the negatives?
