This is Excellent. I met with my SCORE Reps 2 weeks ago. I admitted to them that I have avoided writing a business plan. They were so happy to hear me confess this, and are more than willing to walk me through the steps to help me achieve this high priority goal! This video was excellent and I am so excited to finally focus on doing this once and for all! Thank You!
It is a good tool to help folks visually understand what is going on in the organization. It is an easy to start tool to help everyone use a common vocabulary and converse with the hard facts which were previously masked in tons of redtape and mostly in spreadsheets of decision makers. Best part is the simplicity and the common language used to connect all in the organization and bring them all on the same page...
im doing this business model assignment for this semester, and aslo business plan. I wanted to try to find more about question to crete for the part of business model. ur video that provide help me a lot. TQ
Thank you for your lesson. This is helping me to focus and set up a revised model for my small business that is suffering due to COVID-19. Keep up the good work.
Brilliant. I'm studying this eslewhere and needed further clarification. This has really helped, the examples were particularly useful to put it into practice.
Thanks a lot. This session has helped me a lot to understand the business model canvas, especially with the examples provided it make it more practical.
that was great presentation with more clarity on Business Canvas Model. Just wanted to check where can the BCM be used in the banking industry if you could please share few examples ?
The part I require help with is Customer Segments which is the first building block of a business model according to the book. The part that is confusing to me is that it mentions "There are different types of Customer Segments. Here are some examples:" it goes on to list 5 different examples which are 1. Mass market 2. Niche Market 3. Segmented 4. Diversified 5. Multi-sided platforms. Questions I have: Are these 5 different examples different ways you can classify different customer segments? Is the "Mass market" example actually a customer segment? Because it says "business models focused on mass markets don't distinguish between different Customer Segments" does that sentence actually not make it a customer segment since it does not focus on customer Segments? Could you consider age, behaviour, or geography different types of Customer Segments?
And we call this a perfect presentation!!!!. no one, not even the guys with lot of experience can explain it with that precision.. thank you and we expect lot more videos' from you brother
I'm right now actually studying this model business in order to teach people and I had a question? Is this business model actually suitable for people who only sell their products outside of the building? I mean there are some people who did business beside the road and a lot of people especially old people didn't know how to use mobile phone except for calling and sending messages. Can I relate this business model with their business? Thank you :) This video is very simple and easy to understand btw
I have to admit that I disagree with Value proposition of Gillette example. As we can see that Value proposition of Google & Skype saying about what are customer Needs & Gains. But in Gillette case is saying how company make money, acquire and retain their customers with Bait and hook which I think it should be part of revenue stream.
Hello First of all thank you for this brilliant video. I have a question though. I am starting an e-commerce business that will have both B2B and B2C, is it better to have a single Business Model Canvas for both business types? or should I separate them ie; a business model canvas for the B2B and another business model canvas for the B2C? Thanks in advance
You should build both customers into one model under different customer segments. The point of the canvas is to show all of the functions in one page making it easy to digest, I would say making two complicates things slightly and id imagine you'd have some overlap in the other 8 sections too.
Yes. They can be different, for example, a used car dealership might have keeping cars in stock as it's biggest cost structure item, but have sales as its most important key activity.
You got the Value Proposition wrong. It's not about the newness or high performance, it's about addressing pain points and targeting customer needs. Ex: "Get from point A to point B easily without buying a car" or "Drink healthy smoothies at home thanks to our blender". You are describing features/attributes, which is NOT a value proposition. Maybe that's what you mean?
I have to disagree. I made the video after reading the definitive book on this topic: Business Model Generation. I standby what I said in the video, as in the book it explicitly references "newness" and "performance" etc as elements that can contribute to your value proposition. Having said that I can see why it might be confusing. Features/attributes are not mutually exclusive from your value proposition. I think the best way to define your value proposition is by defining what makes someone choose your product and not your competitors. So, getting from a to b without a car isn't a value proposition as every taxi firm in the world offers that. But getting from a to b without a car, cash, or a credit card is moving towards being a value proposition as you're beginning to separate yourself from others. Hope this makes sense and helps.
This is by far the clearest and most concise explanation of the Business Model Canvas. This has been really helpful. Thank you so much.
THANK YOU SO MUCH , AFTER 10 YEARS IN BUSINESS I FINALLY SETTLE DOWN TO DO BIZ MODEL DURING LOCKDOWN PERIOD .

For any types of the canvas, beware to design its up to your business are in it's not fixed.
I noticed that the key activities and cost structure have the same elements. Would there be any cases they are different?
