Wait I’ve never done a darkness strat like this do all of the characters just have dark vision? What happens if you’re fighting an enemy that also has dark vision? Doesn’t that negate the whole thing?

Because it’s considered “magical darkness”, normal dark vision does not allow you to see through it. There is a special ability you can get as a warlock that gives you “devil’s sight” that allows you to always be able to see regardless of how dark it is. I don’t know if there are other classes that can get that ability

As Jayst said magical darkness can't be seen through with darkvision. You need either devil's sight from Warlock or an item that gives immunity to blindness like the eversight ring, shar's spear of evening, helldusk helm, or steelwatcher helm

I'm really trying to make a 1/2 Mage half melee build. But with a twist.
I was going to multi class 6 levels into wizard necromancy, 5 levels into blade pact warlock And one level of war cleric. This build gives you. Tough summons, And extra hit possibly 3 with war cleric. And good spells, And you can use any weapon with blade pact also Heavy armor. Just focus Intelligence and charisma. You don't really need wisdom because you're not using them type of spells for cleric. I was wondering if you could improve on it at all. Or have any suggestions on? It seems good right now, but any help would be appreciated.

It definitely depends what you are going for. I think without higher level spellslots your undead minions are going to start falling behind. But if you want extra attack that might just be something you have to give up. Wizard Necromancer 6/Swords Bard 6 would give you the higher spell slots and give you extra attack though. You'd lose the war cleric charges but flourishes are probably stronger anyway. Otherwise you could focus more on the spellcasting and go Wizard Necromancer 11/War Cleric 1. Then you'd get the charges for when you want to attack twice, and if you can get a high enough bonus to spell attacks also make use of inflict wounds from cleric which is a great thematic melee necromancy spell!
