- Hello UA-cam, Flashlight Enthusiast here! Sofirn has just upgraded the original design of the well known BLF Q8 with 4 Cree XHP50.2 (3V) LEDs and scorching 11.000 lm out of still compact quad 18650 battery flashlight. Added USB C charging, improved power and switch makes it a worthy improvement for me. Enjoy!

For those interested in OUTPUT
I measured 170 lm (default turn on), 5.590 lm (MR) and 12.040 lm (Turbo) with Texas Ace Lumen Tube. Measurements on supplied Sofirn 3000 mAh batteries.
Is it possible to put a handle on this flashlight's tripod mount and calibrate it to step down at higher temperatures? I saw that you did this on the X80 video. I'm somewhat new to enthusiast level flashlights and curious if you can sustain a higher lumen output this way on the Q8.
How long is the runtime on turbo ?
You pay attention I see. Sure, it can be done, however with Anduril 2 UI temperature limit is limited to 70 degrees Celcius, so not much can be done here, unless you change UI to NarsilM or Anduril 1. You can always install the handle with standard 1/4 inch threads.
Check out runtime graph section for Turbo runtime ;)
Hooray! Finally! The first normal review has appeared! Thanks.
Thank you! You are welcome 😉
I watch a lot of videos on various channels about led lighting. There are some channels that are really good, witch fine reviews. Others are worse, but you can always learn something. I have to say U are doing a really, really damn good job. I like the comparisons of flashlights with similar parameters the most. This helps a lot in choosing. Because there are many flashlights with similar parameters on the market.

It is a pleasure to hear that, especially from own kind. Także doceniam tym bardziej, wszystkiego dobrego!
Güzel bir video olmuş. Teşekkürler 👍🏻
I'm getting this with the diffuser, batteries and holster!!!
Speak more about it when you try.
I just had one delivered. It's almost too bright, at least to use inside. I like it! It's a little too big and heavy to EDC though.
I am glad you like it. Let it serve you
👍👍👍
12:22 the old production of Q8 Pro got orange-peel reflector. And the new batch production got smooth reflector. Both production also got different circuit board design.
Oh, thank you for that information. Do you think the smooth reflector version has FET+5 driver instead of FET+1?
It would be a great help if we stick to English. I'm not sure if i understand correctly
@@FlashlightEnthusiast ok, I understand you
@@FlashlightEnthusiast I have a sofirn q8 pro, with an orange peel reflector, most likely an old version. I would like to improve it. Smooth reflector, brass bolts
Nice, i would love to see how it compares to the astolux FT02S
It was pleasure to mod this flashlight 🔦
Adrian, you here? Excellent job as always. We are so lucky to have such talent in the community. Keep it up!
LEDs were changed from original XHP50.2 6500K to identical yet 5000K version
The 5000k is available now, i got the 5000k version and it comes with smooth reflector.
Oh, cool. Thanks for sharing! How is the be profile on this one? Is there a tint shift strongly visible?
@@FlashlightEnthusiast what is the candela of this lite?
I measured 64 710 cd
@@FlashlightEnthusiast wow that's up there
@@FlashlightEnthusiastExcellent video, very professional. Thank you. Please according to your tests the 5000k version is brighter than 6500k?
I wish it had a hot center for those longer distances
SST40 or SFT40 or XHP50.3 Hi 3V should give you that. If you reflow LEDs that is
Thanks for the review.
I was wondering if you've tried this with any other batteries? Normally I'm pretty skeptical when people claim a flashlight is noticeably brighter with different batteries but the ones Sofirn sells are fairly low discharge (6.4 Amps) for so much output so I'd be curious.
Thank you so much for pointing this out, I wasn't aware of Sofirn batteries being DLG 6,4A. I am running tests with Sanyo GA and Samsung 30Q right now, I will post results ASAP ;)
Ok, so I ran the test on stock batteries, Sanyo GA and Samsung 30Q to see the difference. Here are the results: drive.google.com/file/d/1gvh8dwoHEAT0DFTU-n5pVkjeaOsLam2F/view?usp=drivesdk
As you can see, surprisingly, Sofirn batteries offer higher brightness than Sanyo GA and longer sustainable Turbo. For me it was a bit controversial, yet proves stock batteries are a good choice for this flashlight. Samsung on the other hand gave a bit higher initial output, but increase was rather marginal. Maybe VTC5A would give more significant difference?
@@FlashlightEnthusiast Wow, thank you for running the tests!
Those are very interesting results. Very surprising that the Sofirns had higher output than the Sanyos. Perhaps those are a little underrated. I know for example the 21700s that Sofirn uses are rated for 10 Amps but have been shown to do fine up to 15 Amps. There's also other factors like internal resistance and other things I don't really understand about batteries :) so maybe the Sofirns are better in some of those ways. Either way, I can say Sofirn know how to pick a battery to rewrap! It's hard to say about the VTC5A; at some point you're pushing the LEDs and the rest of the flashlight as hard as they'll go and the rest is just wasted energy, which means heat which is bad. Plus at these high outputs, I'm not sure how well most people could tell the difference with the naked eye.
Thank you for running those tests… I was wondering the same thing myself but I figured since four batteries are in parallel he would still get 24 A from the standard batteries they provide.
When I am ramping up or down my unit, there are twice very short blackout/blinking happens, is you unit same as well?
can you do Q8 pro 500K vs SP36 pro500k?an the Q8 pro 6500k vs the SP36 pro 6500k?
Great tutorial on this flashlight, I just received mine today and it’s charging, does the green led stay on even when the light isn’t in use?
Yes, green light stays on, you can change its mode by the series of 7clicks in the pattern: low, high, blinky, off ;)
Unscrewing the body slightly turns off the button led.
Hello, can you please advise me between the Sofirn Q8Pro and the Imalent M06? Please, can't decide. Thank you in advance.
Hello, I would say go for Q8 Pro. Maybe it is less powerful, yet much more universal in my opinion. You have good beam pattern with mix of throw and flood, USB C charging, powerbank feature, Anduril with lots of customization options. Imalent is simple to use with no additional features, also does not throw well.
Hi! Any updated code for Amazon? Thanks!
Could you make video how to change temp ramping on Andruil 2? Thank you
Click, click, hold from on
Just got a 6500, amazing value. I scanned through your video to see the charts, then heard you mention your friend did something with thermal paste. Can you tell me more about that? I'd love to tweak it wherever possible, old hand at thermal past and CPUs/GPUs
Yes, basically you change thermal paste under the MCPCB to a better one. It makes the flashlight body heat faster, however, led and driver can work more efficiently then
@@FlashlightEnthusiast is there a noticeable difference?
I've bought this torch from Amazon. Could someone please tell me how to set it so that it's the brightest for the longest. It dims after about 20 to 30 seconds which makes it a bit pointless. Thank you
Calibrate the temperature
Set thermal limit to 70*C
Enjoy
@@FlashlightEnthusiast como que faz essa calibragem?
Waiting for 4x21700 model.😍
That would be perfect ☺️
4 21700 with 4 XHP70.3s.
I'm sure they can push 20,000lm🤣
Got it today. Does the green light button stays on all the time when not in use?
By 7clicking from off you can change the switch behavior. You have to be in advanced mode though

Is the UI the same as their sofirn BLF LT1 Rechargeable Lantern ?
Very similar. I believe LT1 still uses Anduril 1, so be sure to check sellers item describtion
@@FlashlightEnthusiast Thanks !
Which soda can flashlight do you recommend?
Sofirn Q8, Emisar D18, Astrolux MF01?
Sofirn Q8 Pro is an interesting option for a flooder if high CRI option is not needed. In case you want higher color rendering, I would recommend Emisara D18
@@FlashlightEnthusiast is the Q8 pro really 11000 lumens?
@@markbeck3489 Yes it is. I measured 170 lm (default turn on), 5.590 lm (MR) and 12.040 lm (Turbo) with Texas Ace Lumen Tube. Measurements on supplied Sofirn 3000 mAh batteries. I suspect with Sony VTC6 or VTC5, those results can increase to even 15.000+ lm @turn on, as there were some mods of original Q8 with those LED on the forum and 16.000+ lumens were measured ;)

Ogólnie chodzi o spacery w lesie, górach, zależy mi właśnie aby niekoniecznie miała mega szeroki snop a bardziej skupiony jak w np.
Jakich 18650 używasz to tych latarek?
Pozdrawiam
Hi, this is something I would like in the future version - 4x21700. This on does not support 21700 batteries I'm afraid
@@FlashlightEnthusiast ok, Thank you
Flashlight Enthusiast do you have a updated amazon code that can be used for discount.??
Here you are 😉 H49V-Z2SLZG-HNF5BG
@@FlashlightEnthusiast whaaaaaat thanks bro.!!!!
is there light stabilization?
Of you look closely at the charts you will notice that this is still FET+1 driver. So no stabilization in that matter
Wouldn't it be cool if Sofirn made a lantern piece that you could use with on top of this light???
I believe Sofirn LT1 lantern is using exact same battery tube. So, done already
@@FlashlightEnthusiast I mean that is interchangeable and built just for this light and will actually work so you only have to buy the top part and not the entire thing over again.
It is, I own both.
What color is your favorite? I'm trying to decide myself.
Neutral white of course ;)
@@FlashlightEnthusiast I think I'll get the 5000k. I have a 11000 lumen 6500k Astrolux.
How do I turn off the green light on the button, please
7 clicks from off. For detailed instructions check out my Anduril 2 manual

Are nitecore battering better than sofirn?
Well, both use normal batteries underneath the wrapping. The quality of cell may differ, depending on manufacturer. The only thing Nitecore might be better os the additional protection circuit, but most light nowadays already have them build-in inside the driver.
Hi, how many lumens is on top of ramp?
A bit over 5.000 according to my estimations
@@FlashlightEnthusiast Thanks a lot for answer. I asked the producer but he didn't know.
Best is that the answer is at video 😅 don't know why i miss it at first time.
Better than a imelant MS18?
Cannot compare Apples to oranges I'm afraid
Why does the 5000k version dim faster?
Lower efficiency of warmer LED, but could also be individual differences of this particular sample
or maybe so that the thermal paste transfers more heat to the driver and therefore it resets the brightness earlier?
I am in Vietnam, can I buy tickets?
11k is for 6500k tint. Do U know what difference is for 5000k in lumens?
My sample with 5000K shows 800 more lumens... I would suspect pretty similar output for both.
@@FlashlightEnthusiast honestly i though will be less lumens for warmer tint. But for me its ok 😉
I also thought so. Note that it is a modded version, yet LEDs were sourced from Sofirn website. So I guess it should be consistent for new models as well
which is better 5000k or 6500k?
Depends on your preference and application. CW is generally more efficient, produces less heat and air more sharp to the eye. NW will have slightly lower output, bit more pleasant to your eyes. May also represent colors better.
Hi, you need to enter special mode group first. 2click and hold from off. Than double click to toggle between different modes until you find Strobe. Once you find it, turn off the flashlight. Next time you click 2 times and hold from off you get the strove right away. Mode memory working 😉
@@FlashlightEnthusiast thx))
Bro you didn’t mention how to turn off the green button . It’s always green even after turning off the flash light. Your previous answers for other comments ( 7 times ) not working
Maybe you are in simple UI ? 7 click should work for Sofirn Q8 Pro as it runs Anduril
Same like in Anduril, please check my tutorial on the channel. In a nutshell - click, click, hold then double click to cycle between different special modes (one of them is strobe, light has memory feature)

This pails in comparison to Thrunite 11K lumen tourch My TN36 shines 11K lumens for 85 minutes
I wouldn't agree. You are right that TN36 beats Q8 Pro when it comes to higher sustainable output, but don't be fooled - it is not for the whole 85 min. Check out runtime section in my review of TN36 for more details ;)
