Dude. Absolutely amazing and informative video. You clearly know your stuff. I can't believe how many programmable options flashlights have these days! It's nuts! A buddy of mine recently gifted me a Sofirn SP36 Pro, that uses Anduril 2. So this video was great. That being said, I'm thinking I'll probably run it in simple UI mode, because I'm a simple man. Lol. But I'm still saving this video just in case. Thanks again!

I just received my Sofirn Q8 pro, and I didn't like the factory thermal step down after just 30 seconds, so I'm very grateful for your video. My manual doesn't explain it because it doesn't give a detailed image like yours does. Thanks so much for the time you put into showing us how to program Anduril 2! 😁

Received my Wurkkos TS21 today and just finished configured it using your video - thanks. I believe it fits my needs. Pretty complex overall (the Simple UI is a good idea) but you got that covered well enough in my opinion. Also, previous experience with Anduril 1.0 (in Sofirn SC31 Pro in my case) is a great helper to march trough those crazy graphics.

@@FlashlightEnthusiast i'm enjoying it in my favourite 4000K tint, but i need more field testing. Robust, well-built and quite compact, with a nice pocket clip. Very floody as well. Turbo is quite a lot (i enjoyed the fact that Anduril 2.0 has a momentary turbo). It's so far a good general use option in 21700.

Every time I have trouble with the light I always come watch your videos. Recently had one turn on in my pocket and burn me so I had to come back and see how to set a timer to lock it out.

I couldn’t set my thermal because I didn’t know you had to do 7h clicks after the first entry you put in. Thankfully you showed it takes you back to battery check and you have to click 7h more 😂

@@FlashlightEnthusiast I just wish you could double check the thermal step down. I know you can check what temp you set (1st one you set with 7h) but can’t make sure you put in 30 clicks for 60 degrees step down.

I set out to buy another cheap on/off wind up torch and ended up with this Anduril 2 in an IF25A! It's ok I can sort of see how it works from my electronic engineer days so am not really that surprised. I think simple mode will be fine for me but occasionally I may want to show off a strobe mode so a lot of pressing there.

I need some help with my Noctigon Dm11. Tried to set up sunset mode and probably went into something else (most likely tint ramping, although my light can't change tint). Anyhow, I lost moonlight, now the default floor level is 0 and temporary mode in lockout doesn't work either. And when ramping down, the lowest level before 0 has a flickering beam like it would be in candle light mode and dims down completely within 30 seconds. Very strange and can't reset it. After reset it behaves the same.
Any ideas? Would really appreciate your help!

Thank you! Battery voltage check gives you...voltage of the battery itself. Full is 4.2V and depleted is about 3.0V
@@FlashlightEnthusiast Thanks so much! I just did a battery check after charging. It blinks 4 and then 1 (4.1v) but if I let it repeat (the 2nd, 3rd, 4th time, etc), it then repeats 4.2v. Why is that? Thanks.

Can you configure a certain lumen? Is that even possible? I mean can I calculate it e.g. divide the 2000 lumen of the turbo mode (max level of the flashlight) by the 150 steps or so?

Can you change the brightness of the sos/beacon modes?
Is it possible to activate turbo in simple UI? I have tried accessing the config menu while the flashlight is OFF and in advanced mode with 10H, then waited for 4 flashes (config turbo style) before clicking the button two times to select the third turbo style option. But when I go back into simple UI turbo is still not available 😕
I'm setting up the flashlight for a friend who did not like the advanced UI, but still want to use the flashlights full power.
No such option. The purpose of simple UI was to limit the output as well to make more powerful flashlights safer to less advanced users...

Just got my first Anduril 2 flashlight(Emisar D4V2) and there’s no SOS! After beacon it just goes to battery check. Any ideas?
Different version of UI, nothing to worry about. Unless you need it desperately. Than you might try to reflash the flashlight with Anduril with SOS mode (not that hard, there are tutorials how to do it with proper reflashing kit)

I have the lumintop fwaa and when I ramp all the way up and double click nothing happens but when I double click at a lower mode it goes super bright like turbo, but it won't do that when it's ramped all the way up, is that normal?
Yes, you have set ceiling on Turbo, that's why it cannot go to Turbo, when it is already there at top ramp

Could be from the factory. Just set the ceiling for something lower than 150 level (try clicking 30 times in ceiling setting to set it to 120th level). Hope it helps

My sofirn q8plus uses aundril 2 goes into turbo mode with double click in advanced. It has 3 different ramp modes too. I love how i ramped the boltage up to 4.3 volts. Question. Why is my diagram of andril 2 is different

Great informative video and bookmarked it for watching over and over again. Every time I activate the moonlight mode by 1H from off, it becomes my default brightness next time I turn the light on by 1C. How do I keep a different brightness at 1C from off but not get it lost by going moonlight from off via 1H next time?
Check manual vs auto memory function. It should help, as 1H from off takes you to floor every time, yet as long as you don't hold it too long, it should not be memorized

I have a Wurkkos TS21, with Anduril 2 and I can't seem to get into the blinky modes. I am starting from off and doing 2 clicks with the 3rd hold, but it's still not working. Any recommendations?
You are in Simple UI. 10H from off to go into Advanced UI, than should work

@@Миша-Колин 10H from off position will bring you from Simple to Advanced UI. It will not change by itself, unless reset has been made (sometimes happen after keeping the flashlight with unscrewed tailcap for too long for some unknown reason...)
Want to ask. I don't understand abou 150/150 in ramp setting. So if I want settg ceiling about 80% from turbo how many click? 120 click?
That's right, 80% would be level 120, so in settings you click 30 times (150-30=120)

All the settings can be set only o advanced UI, but they automatically transfer to simple UI. So there are no separate modes for both those UI
I like Anduril, and like many of you, I'm an experienced user or a flashaholic (I still have FLuPIC lights that I use). However, I know others who won't bother with Anduril lights, because they see them as too "fiddly." I'd like to see a future Anduril version that makes use of a small OLED screen with an interactive menu, as there would be a lot of advantages to an interface like that.
I don't think there would be enough memory on the microprocessor with anduril and oled libraries to drive a screen, a processor upgrade would be a solution though
@@cjdelphi -- That's true--they would have to rearchitect the hardware along with the software. However, someone's bound to do it, and then all this click-click-hold tedium will become obsolete overnight.
@@tswrench I've contacted every major flashlight company and said they need to allow custom scripts to be uploaded by the user
You create your 1 script, define the min lumens and max, tell it how many modes it has, set it up so it meets your exact needs, low and high if you want 30 modes your script do anything you want
The script could be uploaded via Bluetooth from a PC or phone, you could even change scripts for an indoor and outdoor mode
You could even do an outdoor mode script (Triple click) and indoor mode
Outdoors
MinLumens=MinL;
MaxLumens=MaxL;
Indoors
MinLumens=3;
Maxlumens=800;
3 clicks to change modes, obviously if you hate scripting, just download one and fill in the values
But, lumintop, Fenix, thrunite, olight, are all Chinese, and the Chinese won't do shit unless someone else does it first
@@cjdelphi -- HA! True enough. I don't hate scripting, it was part of my job for 11 years (well, on 2nd thought maybe I do hate it a little ;^ )). I'd take a whack at developing what I described, but I've never programmed to either of those interfaces, and I'm a bit rusty. Sounds like it might just end up getting stolen anyway, right?
it looks like you do know your flashlights so this should be easy question for you, Which flashlight with 18650 battery has illuminated switch button in off position like BLF Q8? And does any of them have illuminated switch button changing color when the battery is getting depleted in off position? It would be a great help.

Though question, as it does not happen often in off position. Even Olight will display it only when on. However, every Anduril flashlight with RGB Auxiliary LEDs have a voltage mode, which will show you your battery power by a set color of AUX. Like D4v2 mentioned above
What if you want the ceiling at 150? At the ramp mode
Good question. It works when you click just ones 🤷
so turbo mode is when its at its highest setting, double click and that is turbo? I changed the temp to 1c so that will make it stay on longer?
Not necessarily. Double click from off will usually take you to the max ramp, which usually is set below max level. Double tap from on usually takes you to 100% brightness - which is Turbo.
I highly advice against setting false temperature, as you get rid of one safety feature that stop the flashlight from damaging itself when running on higher modes. But yes, setting real temperature lower than actual makes time to achieve thermal limit longer, thus longer time before the stepdown...

When the flashlight is off, 2H turn on turbo mode correct? (Momentarily)
Then when flash light is on 2H and 3H turn turbo on as well? Correct?
2H from off -> momentary Turbo
2C from on -> constant Turbo
3H from on -> momentary Turbo, unless you have dual channel flashlight ;)

Yes, you can set it lower by clicking 7H from on and than clicking 1 or 2 times to set the floor level lower than default 3rd level. Depending on the driver it might cause some flickering so sometimes manufacturer sets it higher on purpose

Question, if you swapped emitters to different ones on wurkkos ts10v2, can you then use the tint ramping?
I honestly think tint ramping is the most useful feature.
Only if flashlights support that feature, as you need to have separate circuits at MCPCB level

With 3 LEDs it is unlikely. I would recommend checking out Hank Wang's Emisar and Noctigon line, especially tint ramping models. They come stock with such functionality

I still can't get my Wurkkos TS10 to ramp up to highest output in the configuration, I still have to double press to get to turbo. 7H and then I'm waiting until the second blink then letting go and then 1c. What am I doing wrong?
Some flashlights just have the driver that won't allow that... Try setting the Turbo style according to this manual: toykeeper.net/torches/fsm/anduril2/anduril-manual.txt

With the lock out mode sir can I program those changing colors even if lockout mode is turned off?
Yes, to change AUX of lockout mode you need to be in lockout mode and then 7click will change the color or brightness. Once you set it an enter lockout again it will remember your last setting. Hope it helps ;)

I'm not sure it's necessary. These are just some minor changes to already existing base. I added some explanation with Noctigon M44 video, where channel switching design was introduced.

If I understand correctly, you would like to have different number of modes than 5. In order to do that:
1. Switch to advanced UI
2. Make sure you are in set modes rather than step less dimming
3. 7 click and hold until you reach the third blink in the settings
4. Click n times for n modes you wish for.

Anduril 2 is still being improved every week and versions are being released. Newer versions don't have such functionalities anymore. 2 click for MR form off than 2 click to go to Turbo mode. Much better
So I watched your tutorial, and you have explained it very well. I have a Sofirn SC21 pro and it's an awesome little torch. One question though. I've kept it at simple UI, and I heard you mention that the highest brightness setting (turbo) isn't in the simple UI. The manual says double click from on or off, there's turbo. I tried it, it's very bright. Is this not the turbo? Thank you!
Hi, during the time I recorded this tutorial that was the case. However over time manufacturers adapted the code for different models, so it might vary from flashlight to flashlight
Especially when you have Max Ramp set at the same level as Turbo. Then you are getting Turbo by double click from on and off too

Im still stuck. How do I turn off the button LEDs? I hate them glowing all the time....
1. Make sure it's Anduril, some flashlights have it glow by default and you cannot do anything about it
2. In Anduril you change modes of AUX (including button) by 7 click from off. It is usually 3 or 4 modes in the loop, so by 7 clicking you go into blinking -> off -> low -> high -> blinking and so on
3. If you have Anduril 2 you need to be in advanced UI in order to 7 click to work (to enable advanced UI 10H from off)
Everything is in the tutorial, but maybe this explanation on specific case will help ;)

I have never seen my TS21 display 4.2V on battery check even right after removing the battery from my charger. Why ?
It happens sometimes that it stops at 4,1V. That's why I'm newer versions of anduril you can make a manual correction so that it displays 4,2V. It must be somehow connected to software issue

HI, I am a bit confused about setting the thermal step down, in the video you do 3 clicks to battery check, then 2 clicks to enter temp check, then 7 and hold and wait for 2nd blink then do 7 clicks x 4 followed by 2 clicks ? But then you say 30 clicks to reach 30 degrees ?
Sorry if this is a dumb queston or if I'm not understanding it correctly.
Hi, you got it partially correct. O assume you already calibrated the light to show correct ambient temperature. Now you go to temp check (3 clicks from off to battery check, then 2 click to temp check). Now flashlight should blink your current ambient temperature. You need to enter setting s mode (7 clicks and hold until flashlight blinks second time, as thermal limit is the second setting). After 2nd blink you let go the switch and the flashlight should enter light strobe to indicate it is waiting for your input. Now you click n times for 30+n degrees limit, meaning Of you want it to step down when it reaches 50 degrees C you need to click 20 times (as you cannot go lower then 30 degrees by default). Hope it helps!

Brake the contact, i.e. loosen the tailcap or flashlight head. That is the only way

In stepped mode, how many steps is the maximum?

I've been trying to calibrate the temp on my D1 B35AM and it's been nearly impossible... getting the seven clicks right is super hard on this light, I managed to turn off the button light after multiple tries, but now with the 7H for the temp calibration it's nearly impossible, I've tried fast clicking, slower clicking, but no luck. Very frustrating. What am I doing wrong?
My light drops from turbo within 5 seconds. The ambient temp where I live is around 30-31C.
You might still be in simple UI, where 7 click won't work... Usually faster clicks work better in my experience, D1 should have quite distinct click
@@FlashlightEnthusiast I did a reset, tried again, I'm in advanced mode, I turned off the button light and switched to stepped mode, but getting the number of clicks right for some reason is extremely difficult, I gave up on changing the temp calibration.
I love how the light looks and feel, but changing settings on my light is a nightmare.

Hello sir I've followed the steps you have instructed me for temperature control. Before there was 2 blinks and 7 blinks. After adjusting it says 3blinks and 1 blinks. What does it means sir? 😊😊😊
2 and seven means 27 degrees C for setting before you changed it. Then it displayed current setting of 31 degrees C ( 3 and 1 blinks)
OK sir can you not check the status of temp control when you set it to 60°centigrade? With 7clicks then hold and pressed 30 clicks after.

Hi, you would have to change Turbo style - it is available in newer Anduril 2 versions:
1. Ensure that the light is in the ramping mode
2. Click 10 times, hold on the last one until the light starts to buzz
3. Wait for the light to stop buzzing to set your Advanced UI’s turbo style to: No turbo, only ceiling.

It is painful way to config a flashlight via push button. Will it be easier for manufacturers allow smart phone to configure the flashlight via usb connection? 🤔

Why cant they just have usb interface so you can plug it into the computer and click simply on or off.
Ive got a sofirn light that i just want to turn the annoying bright green light off on standby.
no matter how many times i click 10 times and hold on the tenth the bloody light wont go into advanced mode.
Maybe it has Anduril 1?
Thanks, nah i finally got it to change to advanced mode. i just had to click super fast. This is a really handy video. Once you get it working ie into advanced its great.
I still think a simple usb interface with basic flip on off or enter text would be easier.

Click, click hold then double click to cycle between different special modes. Once you are in desired mode turn off the flashlight. When you hit click, click hold from off you should enter the desired strobe. Beware that you have to be in advanced UI

My sofirn q8 plus keeps on lowering its brightness overtime until it gets to a low mode
Actually it lowers itself until it turns off
When i check battery it flashes 2 times then 4
Then batteries need recharging. If it happens on full battery, then unfortunately driver is broken and needs replacement. It should be covered by warranty
I have a k9.3 and there is no s.o.s. mode,it goes from battery check,temp check,beacon then back to battery check.Have you heard of anybody else without it?
Yes, confirmed - K9.3 lacks sos mode, but surprisingly it is present in the code for this flashlight
Had they simply added a second button the features could be accessed so much more efficiently.
True but the thing about anduril 2 is that it's a flashlight programming logic specifically designed to give single button flashlights the most functionality. What would be even better than any amount of buttons would be a Bluetooth connection so you could alter all the values from a spreadsheet on your phone.

It needs to power many different types of flashlights, some may or may not have more than one buttonr, if they add a second button then all flashlights from all manufacturers have to add two buttons to their flashlights
Modern flashlights have become more like computers than a simple device. So many features are buried in sub-menus to a point where they become difficult or impossible to access immediately. @@digginggopher
That would be a very good idea. Install app on your phone and customize everything much more really, like wireless ear buds. @@Camrographer
Where did you get that helpful sheet? My flashlight came with a credit card sized instruction manual that was a joke, you can’t even read it with a magnifying glass 🔍.

@@FlashlightEnthusiast - Thanks, I should have known to search, color me dumb. Mine was that sheet coped to a bi-fold credit card 💳 size. I figured out the basics on my own. It was weeks later I accidentally locked it and couldn’t figurine out (immediately) how to unlock it. 🤣

Nothing new but SOS mode is okay. I think it should be Anduril 1.1.0
Some signifficant changes happen, mostly in separating simple and advanced UI. Some additional modes (SOS, timed lockout, Voltage correctionm turbo momentary) create a sense of more than just small improvements.
This Anduril firmware is ok only for playing with it. For throwers is absolutely useless. Narcil is way better than first and second version of Anduril. Is this Anduril 2 can be configurated with only one setting - 100%/Turbo and simply click for on/off? Anduril 1 can't....
I agree that Anduril is a bit overkill for throwers, although I like ANduril way more than Narsil. I guess personal taste strongly matters here. Try setting the ramp for one mode only, with floor and ceiling set to level 150. Should work both in Anduril 1 and 2
I tryed many times on FT03S and no luck with this setting only 100%. And it's annoying to setup Anduril, so many options and clicking, and clicking and more clicking.... With NarsilM everything is fine with Astrolux FT03. Like I said for EDC is fine, there is no need only 100% but why for throwers? And yes it's personal opinion :)
Yeah, a bit complex to click 150 times in floor setting I guess, but theoretically doable. With fixed modes in Narsil it is way easier, I agree
I just need a reliable flashlight in dark places with a great battery life to serve me. That's it.
I understand, that's a pragmatic approach. There are numerous flashlights on the market that can serve that purpose. I would avoid those with Anduril in that case ;)
Anduril will never become widespread the way it is build. They need Bluetooth and a phone app to program the flashlight...

@rayoflight62, I think you are right. We all have things we would like to change, and an app would be the best option. But I'm pleased we have something until then.

Because enthusiasts designed it ;) Seriously though it is the most advanced flashlight UI that was intended for advanced users, who craved a bit more than 3 modes in the loop. Nowadays with more and more enthusiasts, manufacturers fall in trap offering this advanced UI for budget flashlights intended for masses, and flashlight forums also recommend then as good for everyone. And the circle closes :)
Even as a somewhat casual enthusiast I find myself disappointed with non-Anduril UI's now. Especially if they don't give me ramping. But besides that; I want to know my battery voltage to the tenth. I want the built in thermometer. I want to lock out the top of the ramp when my 2 year old nephew wants to play with a 3000lm light. I want the 4 click lockout for pocket carry. etc etc. So nice once you get used to it. This video has been a great reference.

It’s to much way to much. May be a couple different settings here in there like Muggle mode or whatever but it’s too much. Give me. Turbo, High, Medium ,low, and maybe like a moonlight or fire fly mode . And then strobe and SOS.
I find stepless dimming feature extremely handy and being able to switch to stepped mode is also a big plus for many users. Anduril is thoughtfully designed to have all those features hidden and after all, you can forget about them as long as you don't click multiple times randomly ;)

I HATE this flashlight because it's too much to do in a situation. I work security. So help me figure this out. I want to be able to ramp up to turbo or directly to turbo and be able to instantly go to tactical fast strobe when needed. So how do I do this? If I get in a situation, I can't stand there and tell the problem person "ya...hold on until I find my strobe so I can strobe you." There is absolutely no reason why they couldn't do a fast switch for instant strobe. Is there a way??!!!
I understand, for law enforcement and security it is not the most fortunate UI. However, if you set your ceiling level to Turbo (so 1 click only in the settings), you can rano up directly to Turbo, also double click will take you there. In case of strobe, there is double click and hold function from off, which brings you to special modes (last mode memory, so use strobe there and you are good to go)
@@FlashlightEnthusiast Was just playing with the strobe function a bit and it's actually not that bad imho for quick access strobe. Little practice and it's faster than most solutions out there.
