- Today we enjoy the street food scene in Durban. A quick background, all areas in Durban are not walking-friendly due to safety reasons so the street food is very limited.
In this first part of the series, we explore Durban’s Blue Lagoon situated at Lagoon Drive and Snell Parade circle. It mostly comes alive on weekends from about lunch time. With a very Indian influence, this place has become a favourite for locals - no matter the weather.
Hope you enjoy!

Proud South African lovely guys
Thank you 🙏
I think the Sub Continent influence is over riding our traditional methods of cooking, this is across the country. South African Indian cooking methods, techniques, flavours are unmatched worldwide..Kerelan cuisine comes close but no cigar. We are allowing the Sub Continent as an influencer. Our flavours are heritage linked..our mothers and grans cooked the most outrageous cuisine and passed those methods to us, yet we depleting our very own talent and talented we are. Dont let our traditional methods die a slow death or even being replaced. We need more traditional outlets boasting our authentic methods and cuisine, its something to treasure and be proud of...and with that I am now craving a mutton bunny however alas !! This concrete jungle has very little in terms of proper cuisine.
We totally agree with your comment, can never beat an authentic Durban curry. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts with us ❤️

Love me some Kashmeers sugar cane juice! I go every 2 weeks for a couple of liters! Glad to have met you guys last week and keep it upppp!
Thank you for the kind words and for watching ✌🏽
Not all of those are South African Indian snacks. Patha is eaten with food in South India very frequently. Veda is actually masala vada from South India that’s found on most street corners. The culture got so diluted or lost in translation it’s actually crazy
We’ve been to India and have had these foods and there’s a big difference in taste. In our opinion the only thing they have in common is the name ✌🏽
@@ordinarysouthafrican yeah ours is the knock off. That’s why the taste is different. It’s not South African at all and that’s a fact. It’s not my opinion. We didn’t create it
