Omg I’m so happy u came to our little historical park kennywood! I live very close and we go all the time and we absolutely love Noah’s ark it’s one of a kind! I wish there was a love button for this video! Love that u love it as much as people who grew up here!
There is one other in the world! It’s at Blackpool pleasure beach, and it was very complex back in the day. I ‘rode’ it about 15 Year’s ago, but it’s since been closed, and converted into the park entrance building!
I always liked those shaky floors and the squishy tongue! Some of it was changed twice since I was a kid in the 1980s, but I'm glad those are there. I know they removed the whale entrance and then put it back; I'm not sure about the floors. I'm just glad they ditched the 1990s renovation and just made it an updated version of how it had been.
YAY...so glad you did feature this...the whale entry used to have this super squishy flooring (before they redid the entry to the weird mine thing and then changed it back) When the old one from the 70's /80's would get wet it stunk to high heaven but thinking back only made it more fun and realistic as to what the throat of a whale would be...LOL It got wet enough that it would wet your shoes LMAO at your reaction to the boat moving ...it takes some getting used to. ..the kid crying..(throw that one off the boat..lol) Trick to doing the stairs...wait till the boat goes all the way forward or back then quick down them. Outside the boat where there was an airgun sound...they used to have an actual air cannon under the deck entry that would make the girls dresses blow up..there is a video that shows it happening to a few ladies. (i want to say in the late 50's early-mid 60's )
Don't know how I missed this one from you! So glad they changed everything back to how it was when I was young in the 80-90's. The whale tongue, the animals looked like the originals but cleaned well, that last vortex tunnel with the black fence around it. There was another way out so you didn't have to walk through the tunnel and I always skipped it... should've known I get vertigo easily back then! Those jagoff kids screaming and going the wrong way... THAT brought back everything. Happy to hear that they still use the same whistle tones on the Arc. This would be the last attraction that my friend and I would run through before the park closed. Thanks for the memories.
I havent been there since the 80's. But this video reminded me of the smell. Old wood, like an attic. I once took a wrong turn in noah's ark & ended up in a staff breakroom
Yes I got the same feeling, the musty, wet wood smell n the vibrating floor. We try n go there every year but haven't been in Ark in about 5 yrs.......
Such an unusual, unique, and fun ride. I've never seen anything like it. I've always been a fan of walk-thru rides like this. I always loved how they made the boat rock for real. You get inside there and everything is constantly rocking. Then there's a place down below where you get off the rocking boat and onto solid land. They did a really good job making it easy to transition back.
I glad you enjoyed kennywood so much. It really is my all time favorite park. It has a kind of charm that just cannot be beat by any other park. Its been a long time since I last went too. And Noah's ark is my favorite fun house in the world as well. In the Ark they used to have a elevator that made it seem like you were falling hundreds of feet down a mine shaft, and a room like you were in a flooding submarine.
I remeber this once had holes in the floor with plexiglass over it you had to walk over with creaking vibrating boards and the sinking ship scene with all the water and pipes spraying about
I remember that as well. Scared the crap out of me. Then had to go to the turtle to get my stomach to quit feeling queezy. Wonder if he ate at potato Patch fries
At Christmas they decorate it inside and I always sing "I wanna Hippopotomus For Christmas" when I go through the jungle lagoon room. 🤣 I have loved this ride all my life. Used to literally run though it as a kid. Still loved it through the 2000s rennovation with the elevator instead of the whale, but I am glad they put it back. You should experience Kennywood for the holidays and for halloween.
this is the new and improved noah’s ark, i remember b4 tye added the whale entrance u had to go on this creepy elevator n walk on top of bones and shi. that was the last time i ever went on that ride
This ride has changed a lot, I’m glad they restored it. When I first went through they had a sinking ship part, which scared ~5 year old me half to death
Lived in Braddock till 1969, my parents would take us there all the time. I remember swimming in the pool, "driving' on the Turnpike ride, the opening of the Log Jammer, the clock made from flowers, the diving shows and the Beatles, the Lone Ranger, and so much more. Oh and the tickets: ride, refreshment and tax.
Very Cool that you're at Kennywood. Ive been going there for about 33 years now. At one point they removed the whale entrance and we all flipped out so they put it back. Also the movie Adventureland was filmed at Kennywood (albeit not the best movie but eh). Great work!
I would have to say that many people also flipped out when they turned The Old Mill into that Garfield themed boat ride. I'm hoping that they turn it back into a more classic form someday in the next few years. :P
I was so excited when I saw you were at Kennywood! My mom grew up in West Mifflin so we went to that park every summer, even though we lived on the other side of PA. Such a great place that I now take my kids ☺️
Oh Carpetbagger, dude, you were in Pittsburgh. I know you must have a had a field day in and out of that city since it is full of strange places, mysteries, urban legends, bizarre museums like the Mattress Museum, and small towns stuck in a time period like Tarentum, Cheswick, and New Kennsington. I use to live in downtown Pittsburgh for a brief period and usually had a good time exploring outside the city. There's also an abandoned turnpike not too far from Pittsburgh.
There used to be something very similar to this in Blackpool Pleasure Beach. It is still there but you can’t go on it anymore. It’s become part of the entrance way of the park now. Some of the animals that were part of the outside display have been reused for displays around the route the little park train takes around the park now.
They actually still have a Noah’s ark in Blackpool pleasure beach here in the uk! Unfortunately you cannot walk threw it anymore but it’s still an amazing thing to see it moving! I myself have never been lucky enough to walk threw it but I hope one day they will re-open it
The one at Blackpool still rocks back and forth bit it's not been open for a while you can however still the inner workings of the ride Noah's Ark is a type of amusement park walk-through attraction built between 1919 and 1936. It features a fun house in the shape of the biblical vessel found in the Genesis flood narrative. As such, most Noah's Arks featured scenes depicting animals and the biblical prophet Noah alongside traditional fun house gags. There is only one remaining Noah's Ark in operation at Kennywood Park near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Although there is a Noah's Ark at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in Blackpool, England, it has not been operational since 2008.
I still vividly remember my little kid experiences from the 1960s - the squishy whale’s tongue, walking into the rocking ark, the moving stairs with rope for railings, and bouncing and side to side moving floor. The spinning tunnel at the end would make you want to fall over (like vertigo).
This reminds me of a scene in a Charlie Chaplin film, the name escapes me, but some guy ends up chasing him onto it and to avoid a cop patrolling the area, Chaplin and the guy chasing him pretend to be part of the display being animatronics with Chaplin conking the guy on the head with a billy club several times XD neat attraction!
Last time I was on Noah's Ark ride, there was a tinny old song playing, "Noah's my na-ame; and this Ark is my claim to fa-ame; Noah's my NAME!" Just think of an old Victrola playing Al Jolson.
@@Erstwhilebilge I remeber every octoner going with my grama and grand when pleasure beach wasnt silly prices and you got free ride tokens from the paper. We went in and in the dark corridor it had a door in the floor with compressed air that sprayed out. The rhino and cow bums were there as well ha ha it still rocks back and forth now :)
🎵”in came the animals two by two hippopotamus and kangaroo in came the animals three by three two big cats and a bumblebee who built the ark? noah! noah! who built the ark? brother noah built the ark!” 🎵
There's a Noah's Ark very like this at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in England. Sadly, it's not been open for the past few years, but it still sways back and forth.
We had the same attraction right here in the UK at Blackpool pleasure beach but sadly the attraction is closed now but the ark is still there on top of the booking office still moving as well
If you made it as far as Pittsburgh, but did not see Knoebel's, turn back. One of the best Haunted Houses ever. In addition to the rides, the park food is amazing.
I remember as a kid going in there you turn a corner and theres a massive gorilla staring you in the face, it scared me so bad that I refused to ever go in there again
I was worried watching your Kennywood video that you MISSED NOAHS ARK somehow! I love Kennywood... you should visit Knoebels too (if you havent already)
i'd love to go to one of these attractions now that my weights gone down, i'm still working on strength regaining though. Know of any crazy stuff in the bristol tennesee virginia areas?
There used to be a place where something was trying to force its way through a door and Noah was pushing back against it. Maybe a lion? I don't remember.
There was actually a noahs ark fun house here in the UK at black pool pleasure beach open since the turn of the century but the only thing that remains is the rocking boat since it closed in 2010. It's a shame I always wanted to go on one!

Jessica Hrutkay From another Burgher- we will always love Kennywood and our quirky Noah’s Ark !
Connie Crawford absolutely!
I don't know if I'd call it a "little" park
@@thefiddlerontheroof983 little compared to Cedar Point.....

That's such a shame, used to love going on that when I was a kid.
That is the most I've seen of Noah's Ark and I've lived here 60 years. Im still the kid you hear crying in the background
Same here. I was so traumatized I couldn’t physically go back in.
I still remember White Swan park out by the airport, used to go to both as a kid....👍

In West Mifflin, Pennsylvania... THE BOAT ROCK YOU!
probably my most favorite ride/attraction of kennywood. it's part of the magic and nostalgia to experience there.

I have a horrific memory of like, walking over skeletons in this ride. I didn’t ride it for years after cause it scared me.
It doesn’t take much to scare Jacob! Go to the Pittsburgh Zoo/ PPG Aquarium and Randyland!
i once got my foot stuck in the exrlater going out of that zoo
This ride has changed a lot, I’m glad they restored it. When I first went through they had a sinking ship part, which scared ~5 year old me half to death
Be glad you only saw the current version of the attraction. The previous version was straight-up scary.
Before they added the new version recently, I cried during the old version when I first went in it.... I was 7!!! But now I’m 12 and not scared at all
You can watch videos of the previous version here on UA-cam.

You 100% need to experience Kennywood for Fhantom Fright Nights!! Even the ark gets a mini makeover for Halloween and becomes a haunted house.
Trapped on a boat for 40 days and nights with a bunch of farting animals! Is it any wonder Noah looks stressed?😁
That's a fantastic fun house! Thanks for sharing.

That was really fun Jacob. I really liked it.
Love Kennywood last time I went there Noah's Ark was totally different but now when I seen this video it looks so amazing and I can't wait to go back

Nor does it mention Jesus relieving his bowles.

This was featured on another channel about Dark Rides! Congrats, Jacob!
I saw you their filming. I walked right past you wondering what you were filming for.

Noah looks a little creepy! Cool!! Old school fun!

Would love to see this in person one day
That is fantastic! Thank you
They have one at Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Jack The Deer Too bad it isn't open anymore...
Amusement Now awww what? They closed it? I had no idea!
Jack The Deer It's still there (and rocking back and forth), it just hasn't been open since around 2008.
Kennywood has a new coaster opening in July!
I would love to visit that Noah's Ark funhouse.
Awesome video! 🙂👍
Thanks for the videos i enjoy them
You should visit the Indianapolis children's museum in Indianapolis Indiana
Awesome video
