Chichicastenango (Guatemala): The Sacred Mayan Mountain City

Chichicastenango, or simply Chichi, is a popular destination in Guatemala for anyone looking to understand more of the Mayan culture and traditions.
While it is less touristy than Antigua, for instance, Chichi still receives its fair share of tourists.
Most foreigners seem to be fascinated with the local market in Chichi, which is said to be one of the best markets in Guatemala. The second thing seems to be a colorful cemetery, which is actually what I thought to be the primary attraction.
It's important to note that the climate in Chichi is different from what you will experience in other parts of Guatemala. It gets chilly at night, and it is less humid and bearable during the day, while other parts of Guatemala are hot and humid.
I think that Chichi is a great destination if you like to get a bit away from touristy areas and want to understand more of the local lifestyle. The locals were nice, as always, in Guatemala, and I didn't have any issues driving to Chichi.
