- Hi folks. This video gives you the specs of the drum set, a drum by drum audio sample and a brief demonstration. These are the drums out of the box with a quick tune, stock heads, two over head microphones and a kick mic. No EQ and No compression. The bass drum is closed with no dampening. All drums are completely wide open. I'll follow this video with another one, this time using Evans UV1's on the batter side and I'll give you a more thorough playing demonstration. I am very impressed with these drums out of the box. Packing was done very thoughtfully and I appreciated the addition of a Mapex drum key and a bass drum hoop saver. A big thanks to @JustPercuss

Love your kit, man. Personal choice, I replaced all the stock heads with Evans Onyx on mine.
Thanks Mark! I'm keen to try the UV1's as I've never tried them. A thicker 10mm single ply head makes a lot of sense. We'll see how they sound... keen to try the UV1's as I've never tried them. Some black heads would great on the kit. Cheers mate

These are the only kit under 1,000 dollars I can compare to the Stage Customs. The PDP Maple are bad ass and Super Star classics as well, but these are just amazing when I played my buddies kit. Often compared to the stage customs even if they sound different.
Yeah! They belong amongst those other makers. They are great sounding drums that feel good and the price is excellent! There are some innovative features. I'm looking forward to hearing more drums from Mapex. Cheers.
