Abstinence is like fasting. It requires discipline. If you aren't able to refrain from sex for a period of time, not necessarily celibacy, then that could be a sign of being controlled by it. Same thing with junk food and other unhealthy food and drinks; If you can't refrain from those, you are probably addicted to it. I feel as though if both of you are moving off to different parts of the world or something like they you’re going to find different people with different vibes and personalities that you might find interesting to you and It could be something that could start up a connection between someone. Your vibe and life back at home in your environment are different from your college environment and there you get to adapt to other people culture and aspects which give you more a understanding. So I say no you can’t
