    I look at a lot of these product *reviews* for the Fobo Bike 2 TPMS and Paul Pomerleau left them all in the dust. He not only answered 99.999% of all my technical questions - but he summed up the product perfectly. He didn't spend a lot of useless time *OPENING* the box, but got to the nitty gritty of showing the product, installing and *USING* the *APP* and then configuring it. Most useful and very well done.

    Great review. I just installed them on my 2008 Goldwing. I might add that without a Wi-Fi connection when pairing the sensors to the app they will not connect. My bike barn was too far away from my house so I didn’t have a Wi-Fi connection out there and I had to move the bike within range of my Wi-Fi in order to complete the set up.

    Good video. The locking nut is not for an unlikely thief, but to keep it from over time vibrating and backing off, use the locking nuts! Gunna be annoying and expensive to buy a new sensor if it falls off after 2k miles. You could use loctite too, either way it is not a thief problem you are addressing. Any thief could have a pair of pliers, that’s not what the locknuts are for.

      I have gone through several tires in the 5 years that I have been using these tire pressure sensors and I have never needed to re-balance my wheels. But I guess there is nothing wrong with doing it if you want to. The sensors are 7.6 grams so you can add that amount to the opposite side if you wish.

    I know this is gonna sound crazy with the fobo bike 2 but I wanted to add or remove air after putting them on bike how do I do that do I just remove sensor and do this

    • @PaulPomerleau
      @PaulPomerleau  3 роки тому

      Yeah, you are going to have to remove the sensor to put air in the tire. People are starting to change the valves to a T-valve so the sensor goes on the top part and you can add/remove air from the side part. This way you don't need a gauge, you can simply use the sensor info on your phone to see the pressure. Thanks for watching.

    Great video Paul, I scanned the manual and watched a few videos, no-one seems to talk about the Bluetooth connectivity issues and limitations. I already have my GPS and Headset connected to my Android. Does each TPMS sensor use a Bluetooth channel, are there any limitations to this effect, thanks (Montreal, FJR1300), Dan

    • @PaulPomerleau
      @PaulPomerleau  4 роки тому +1

      Well you got me there. I am not sure of the communication protocols that the FOBO company uses in its devices. If I were to guess I would say that it only uses one bluetooth channel with multiple frequencies in that channel for the sensors. You could try contacting the company, and when you get a reply please post it here to let us all know. Thanks for watching and ride safe.

    Great video, Paul! I just got my Fobo2 for my Spyder. I'd heard through various research that, since we're changing the valve stems from stock (presumably rubber/plastic) to steel (I've read those stems are stainless) that it was recommended to have the tires balanced before re-mounting them on the bike. Have you heard any rumor to that effect?

    • @PaulPomerleau
      @PaulPomerleau  2 роки тому

      I have not heard of that and the weight difference between rubber and stainless is probably not enough to worry about, but if you have the wheels off I guess it would be a good idea to have them balanced, at least it will be peace of mind. Spyders are a bit different than our bikes, we would use balance beads or in my case I use Centramatic Balancers so it's always balanced. Bottom line, if you can get them done quickly and easily then go for it, if not then it's not a big concern.

    Ok, so i ordered these and was so excited to get them because I hate checking the air pressure on my back tire with my saddlebags in the way. So they came, I installed them and right away the front sensor showed low pressure and a low battery. So i put air in, double checked for accuracy then changed the battery out put it all back on. but the tire pressure still showed low (but it wasn't) and the battery still showed dead with the new battery in. Yes, plus side up. Tried everything but no go. Finally just shut it down again and left it. Then, I go up this morning and what do you know I turned it back on and now it's working. But now the back tire battery shows dead. Yesterday it was at 100%. Show I changed out the battery and nothing changed on the app. So I took it all off disabled it so I can put it back on and check it again... then it occurs to me I'm going to have to go through this whole thing every time I got to put in air unless I put in a t valve. It was at that point I realized these suckers are too freaking much work! This was ridiculous it never should have been this hard. So I'm sending him back and imma get my money back. But you all have fun with them.😳☹💥

      I have not installed the t-valve yet. I have never disabled the sensors. I remove them to add air, then put them back on. When I am storing the bike for winter I will remove them, then remove the battery, then put the sensors back on so they don't get mixed up, as I have 3 of them. I brought up Google maps and then removed the front tire sensor simulating a blowout. The audible alarm sounded on my phone but never brought up the FOBO app. The only way I found it to work is to enable the "overlay" in the settings so you have a small image of your sensors that you can place anywhere on your screen. Thanks again for all you do and your help.

      Hi David, my phone is not mounted on my bike. Before I ride I check the pressure on the phone and then put it in my pocket. I have bluetooth intercom on my helmet in case my wife calls me and it will relay the TPMS alarm to my helmet speakers in the event of pressure loss. Also everytime I stop somewhere I take a quick look at my phone to see the pressures. But yes the TPMS quadrant will turn red and the alarm will sound on the screen. I am actually thinking of taking an older phone and mounting it somewhere on the bike so I can see the screen at all times while riding. I don't need cellular service for that, just bluetooth. In the settings you can tell it to keep the screen on.

      @@PaulPomerleau thanks again for the reply, I thought the same thing about a older phone for just the bluetooth capability but wouldn't you need the phone hooked up to a service to be able to download the app and register the sensors. I do plan on buying it and giving it a try as my current doran sensors should be done within a few months as I only get about a year out of them . On to something new I guess. I'm also going to get a set for our bushtec trailer for when we travel, beat the way I usually check them at a gas stop by kicking the tires..lol

      I would take the old phone and set it up at home while connected to wi-fi. There is also a monitoring "Share" feature on the app to send it to a second phone that we could use. I was also thinking of permanently mounting it inside my speaker grill since I never use the radio. Might have to modify it to have a little window of some sort. Anyway, it is just an idea for now.

    How do I remove my ownership of the units so that another user can use them?

    • @PaulPomerleau
      @PaulPomerleau  4 роки тому

      In the app, select the tire and press "Release Sensor". I show this on my video at the 9:45 mark.

      @@PaulPomerleau That seems to release the sensor from the app, but ownership seems to still be written in the sensors themselves. The new owner has the sensors. All I can figure is to have him mail the sensors back to me so that I can remove the ownership.

      You have to be logged into your account on the app. It removes it from your online account and then the other person can add it to his account through his app. You can do it remotely, you do not need to have the sensor with you.

    I can’t get the front tire sensor to sync....any ideas? Thanks

      Try it without it installed on the wheel, it gives you more room to work. Try also changing the battery.

      I tried new batteries. Sensor on the wheel off the wheel. Downloaded the app a dozen times..signed in.....Bluetooth on. And on and on....I just boxed it up sent it back to amazon. My experience wasn’t positive. I guess it’s back to the ground with an old fashion tire gauge lol.

      I am sorry to hear that. I haven't had any problems with mine but I guess there is always some bad sensors. Did you try contacting the company?

    Hey Paul. A great video as usual. My current bike has right angle valve stems. In your opinion would adding the fobo sensors to them throw the wheels off balance. Thanks. Take care and be safe.

      I don't think the 7 grams sensors would throw the tires off. I was using heavier ones with the previous Doran system and all was well. You should be fine, just ensure they don't hit anything first by hand spinning the tire to check for clearance. Thanks for watching.

    Great and very informative video!! I'm going to get a set of these for my Harley...when you have to add air to a tire, is it as simple as removing the sensor, adding the air and re-installing the sensor, or does it require a bluetooth re-connection to the phone??

    • @PaulPomerleau
      @PaulPomerleau  4 роки тому +1

      Remove the sensor, (you will get a zero pressure alarm during this time), fill it up and put the sensor back on. It is already linked to your system so you don't have to re-connect with it again. Also, I am going to install a T-valve on the rim next tire change so I can leave the sensor on and have it tell me the pressure while I am filling.

    I feel like I can still easy remove the sensor while the nut is tighten. Am I doing it right? Are suppose to be able to remove the sensor with the nut on? I don't want my sensor to get easily stolen.

    • @PaulPomerleau
      @PaulPomerleau  3 роки тому

      I imagine if you turn hard enough it will come off. The nut just acts as a jam nut. It is just there to keep the kids from taking it, but if someone really wants it they will get it off. I use the nut only on the front tire as it is the most accessible and I have not had a problem yet. Hope this helps.
