Dan has been my favorite artist since i discovered him on DeviantArt when he was still concepting LMS. I hadn't seen much new from him for awhile now, glad to hear he's still working on it.

I don't know if it's just that Dan is so interesting to listen to, or his story is so compelling, that I had to watch this twice in a row (or listen to it while working actually).
I found this vid and the channel because I've been following Dan's work, and today out of nowhere I started wondering about him, because it's been years since I saw something from him or from LMS (which had me so hyped and inspired back then when it came out), and I googled him and I stumbled upon here.
So, I'm glad I found this!

Dan's story is amazing and inspiring. I always like how he avoids sugar-coating how difficult is to fight for your dreams. Thanks a lot to Jan and Emmanuel for having him. He really deserves the title of "The Struggler" :) He knows why

Yes its good to get a dose of reality. This is what it takes to get YOUR story made. Everybody who thinks they can just throw some images together and Netflix knocks on the door needs to watch this I think :)

By far one of my favorite artists, not just because of his incredible work but because of how sincere and authentic he is. Super real guy.

Gotta be honest. Dude is an amazing artist.
Like inspirational for a whole generation.
But I think he kinda lost his mind, with his ideas on politics philosophy etc.
And I personally think he is vastly overrating LMS, sounds more like standard anime or fighting game plot to be honest. Like yeah sounds fun, but it's just a power fantasy at the end of the day, it's not that deep.
I really hope he gets his dream of a movie or any media property based on LMS done, because that's awesome.
But I can't help, but try to pull him down to earth a little, we are not talking divine inspiration here, this is all derivative, like his main guy is just SWAT Boba Fett and he's going around killing weird characters at the end of the day.
Also and I'm not a psychologist, but he should be looking into therapy. Maybe it was his coke head movie friends that gas light him at seemingly every turn, but something has warped this mans sense of reality. He seems super unstable, but sometimes that creates the best art, what do I know.
And before anyone says I'm just a hater ass bitch, I have told people about this movie and followed this guy for like a decade. I really hope he LMS gets done and also I'm a hater ass bitch, I admit it.

While I respect his patience, I also worry that every year another piece of that originality pie is getting gobbled up by new entertainment properties.
I mean, Dan said himself, when he first started all of this, John Wick and Deadpool weren't really a thing. But now they are.
Patience is one thing, but what happens if the train passes while he's waiting? I mean, look at something like Cyberpunk 2077, it might not have been a huge success but now if LMS releases, it's going to draw a lot of comparisons to what CDPR and Pondsmith did with that.
I work in a slightly different industry, so maybe I'm waaaaay off-base, but following up, being that nagging girlfriend/boyfriend is crucial sometimes. People will forget and they will leave something to wither if they don't have it at the front of their thoughts.
I want to see Dan's vision finally realised. I want to see this dude succeed, for all of us.
Still remember back in 2008 discovering his work on DeviantArt. Man, that feels like multiple lifetimes ago.

I bought the kill book a decade ago in college. Now I'm married with 3 kids. I understand it's hard to get a start in the industry, but it's just sad nothing has come from this world he set up.
I remember shortly after getting the killbook, he was toying with the idea of making a black and white comic based off everything. But then scraped it because it didn't have the ultra colorful tones of the killbook.
I'd kill for that comic now, because it would have actually told the story we've never got to see.

@@higglybiggly1174 Hey, I'm married with 3 also XD
Never got the Killbook but always wanted it, this being said, the typos might drive me nuts since a lot of my day job is finding and correcting them haha.
I remember the first time I heard that Universal was looking at it for a movie, got so excited to see an artist take his dream that far. Didn't pan out, but I agree, this universe is just begging to hit the big leagues.

@@takoshihitsamaru4675 it's an amazing read. He sets up an amazing, beautiful world. I spent days pouring over it, it's so packed with material. Now it just makes me sad, because all these awesome characters and plot lines he set up in it have never come to pass. Back then, it's understandable. But he could easily release a digital comic all under his own label and brand on today's internet and become huge.

@@higglybiggly1174I know this is an old comment but he should have just focused on making a comic and then do a movie thing. He put his chicken before the egg.

@@artdepartmentpodcast Back in 2012 on a Crimson Daggers podcast with Dave Rapoza an Dan Warren I heard Dan talk about his arm injury. Did this ever come back and does he have any practical tips? Got wrist issues, doc (orthopedist) says there's nothing, bones are perfectly fine, just overuse. "Rest and take a pill if it hurts" he said. Nope, not taking pills. Went to a physical therapist and his stretches plus a full body workout help, but it's very slow. Maybe I'm missing something or Dan had some newer experiences in this area (I hope he's been fine though). I'm looking for the magic solution it seems, maybe other viewers of the podcast could use a few pointers here, too. Thank you guys.
