  • Heated seats not working - how to fix them - Audi A4 B8
    Hi!
    Since I bought the car I observed that the seat heating for the driver was not working fine. The backrest was heating fine, maybe too much, but the lower side of the seat was not heating at all.
    In this video you can see me diagnosing the problem and fixing it.
    Now the seat is heating very well and I can enjoy the early cold mornings.
    If you want to see in detail how to disassemble the seats you can also check this video from a retrofit I did one year ago:

    That is a crazy repair! Well done man. Awesome video. I have an issue with my seat rocking a bit when accelerating or decelerating very fast. Going to have to get my seat out soon to see if I can do anything about it :/

      Thank you!!! 🙏 I’ve seen many people complaining about rocking the backrest, but mine are ok. I can only guess it’s something loose or worn out on the adjusting system. Good luck with the repair!! I hope you can fix it. 😁👍

    Thanks for this my A3 drivers seat doesn't work but passenger one does. I think they run off same fuse is that not the case, so cannot be fuse?

    • @istillplaywithcars
      @istillplaywithcars  2 роки тому +1

      Hi! They run on separate fuses as far as I know. Check that first, it might be a simple fix. 😁

    Just discovered my 2010 a4 q avant drivers seat heat wont work. Wont heat at all, i adjust the setting, light goes on for 10 secs, then off and I check the setting and its at zero. Any ideas? Great video by the way.

      Thank you! 🙏
      I would start with checking the fuse.
      After that I would slide the seat to the back, remove the green connector and measure if you have voltage comming to the seat.
      If you have voltage, measure the seat resistance.
      If resistance is also ok (3-5 Ohms) then the thermistor must be nok. Measure resistance of thermistor (the 2x thiner wires in the green connector).
      The thermistor has the role to shut down the voltage if seat goes too hot, so it seams to be what you have, but it’s best to check step by step.
      Good luck! I’m here if you have ather questions. 😁👍

      Hi! The fuse should be in the fuse panel, left side of the dashboard. Not sure exactly which fuse number, but you should find explanations on the plastic cover.

    Hi.. I have the same issue.. Teared apart the seat.. Removed the heating element and no breakage found... Did you find out whats the cause of this? Back of the seat works well.. Resistance of the left seat is 2.4 and 4.1...right seat is 5.6 for back and 12.4 for seat..

    • @istillplaywithcars
      @istillplaywithcars  Рік тому

      Hi! Also I found no brake point. But assuming that the entry side im the car gets the most wear and tear I’ve shortnend the circuit and excluded that part. After that the resitance dropped to normal values. I suggest you do the same.
      For sure, that small part of the seat is not getting worm now, but it’s a good compromise. 👍

      @@istillplaywithcars what about to solder another wire in the line to decrease resistance?

    • @istillplaywithcars
      @istillplaywithcars  Рік тому

      Only if you still keep part of the heating wire in. You need to get rid of the damaged part. But if the damage is in multiple places you can only fix it by replacing the complete bottom wire…

    • @damer950
      @damer950 Рік тому +3

      @@istillplaywithcars I finally found the issue. The wire was partially ripped apart. 1/3 of it was holding together. It was in the same part you bypassed and was pretty hard to find. I had to dig the cable out of the mat and rest of the glue. So the conclusion is that if there is bigger resistance the cable is "half" broken and you need to find where exactly to solder it together.
