The Niners don't have to do this, but it would be a show of good faith and after we win the Superbowl he is free to play for Washington if that's what he really wants.

My patient with this team on the field is totally different. The Juice pay cut was not just about BA. All the restructuring they have been doing is in preparation for the mega deal we are going to have to make for Brock next off-season. We have never had to pay a guy $50-60M and we don't even know what Brock will ask for yet. It is very likely that we won't keep someone very valuable because of it so re-doing Juice's deal insured he is with us an additional year. The extra money it freed up was an added bonus, but Brock is the reason they don't want to cut such a large check for BA. Just look at Dallas this year with Dak and Lamb. The reason I say that this won't be a distraction to the locker room is because they have dealt with this before. This veteran group dealt with so many key guys holding out and even Deebo requesting a trade. Bosa missed so much time last year and he didn't even meet the new DC until September. There's still plenty of time and in all likelihood he plays on his current deal anyways. I remember the dark days which is why I don't think jettisoning an All-Pro during our supposed window is a good idea. If we can get value in return to help this year then fine but there's a reason why high profile players are usually traded for picks and not other players.
BA has already proved himself to be like one of the top four or five receivers in the league. He's worth paying that amount since we have other big hitters we need to pay going forward. The only reason to trade him is if some other team wanted to pay him at Justin Jefferson's level, offered a couple #1 picks, and he wants it despite being on a less competitive team.

I don't see how trading an All-Pro helps us get over the hump when we more than likely won't get quality players back for him. We all want the same thing, which is to win, and our best chance is by figuring it out with BA instead of without. We are all-in to win, right? If they trade him for useless picks and our offense dips, then we'll all riot. Maybe Ricky can take over, but that's a huge risk if this is the window.

As I said before, the money they have been freeing up is in preparation for Purdy, who is coming up next off-season. He is already projected to cost about $50M+ a year, and that's before any potential success or accolades this year. The team is trying to create as much space as possible now because in all likelihood, we will also have to let go of someone as well to afford such a contract.

The Juice pay cut was not just about BA. All the restructuring they have been doing is in preparation for the mega deal we are going to have to make for Brock next off-season. We have never had to pay a guy $50-60M and we don't even know what Brock will ask for yet. It is very likely that we won't keep someone very valuable because of it so re-doing Juice's deal insured he is with us an additional year. The extra money it freed up was an added bonus, but Brock is the reason they don't want to cut such a large check for BA. Just look at Dallas this year with Dak and Lamb.
The reason I say that this won't be a distraction to the locker room is because they have dealt with this before. This veteran group dealt with so many key guys holding out and even Deebo requesting a trade. Bosa missed so much time last year and he didn't even meet the new DC until September. There's still plenty of time and in all likelihood he plays on his current deal anyways.
I remember the dark days which is why I don't think jettisoning an All-Pro during our supposed window is a good idea. If we can get value in return to help this year then fine but there's a reason why high profile players are usually traded for picks and not other players.
