- The Greens moved in the Senate to end the massive tax handouts for wealthy property investors.
If Labor were serious about tackling the housing crisis they’d stop tinkering around the edges.
They’d scrap negative gearing and the capital gains tax discount. They’d make it easier for ordinary people to buy their first home than for investors to buy their fifth.

Labor won't stand up against wealthy property investors because they are the wealthy property investors.
This reminds me of a staunch unionist & Labor man who proudly talked about being a socialist. He would ridicule capitalists almost daily but then one day we learned he owned almost 20 properties, both commercial and private.

Yes, I have been getting advertisement$ on how to legally reduce taxes through property investing... Owning multiple properties by rorting taxpayers is not right just because it's "legal" to do so... Needs to change as years of tax incentives to property investors have only made a few richer while creating new generations of renters for life... One has to ask the question, why isn't these tax incentives extended to first home buyers instead of multiple property owners if this was truly about adding to housing supply and helping people own their homes into retirement instead of paying off someone else's??? If we are going to continue to hand out tax incentives for property, why not to the people that need it???

These tax concessions are white collar charity. It's basically class warefare by growing the landlord class and the powerful Real Estate industry. The Greens sadly don't want to acknowledge that high immigration is exacerbating the problem by creating more demand then supply. Why can't they see the obvious? Still support you Larissa but you need to do more for the poor and soon to be homeless.
