Thats what would make it so fun, even if they didn't do it there would be some good entertainment value. I think Seth would do it but I also know that he tends to wreck alot... This sounds like I want him to die and that isn't actually true.
BCpov No, it totally ruined the visual of 3 small bikes on a near vertical cliff. It made the feat seem pedestrian, really cheapened the sense of incredulity into something almost mundane.
@@waddyhirshy2989 Logic fails you. I critique having a camera man follow on foot & you infer A: I am criticising the feat & B: that constructive criticism is only valid from those doing the same thing. Neither is true.
your subjective perception doesn't constructively criticize, it makes you sound ignorant. appreciate the work that goes into letting you sit at home and watch safely.
Actually the wide angle makes an above perspective on a slope or peak look more narrow than it really is. It's the one time, IMHO, when the camera makes something look more dangerous than it is.
That was intimidating! I'm glad to hear about how seriously you took your safety for it. I know you are more than capable, as well as mature enough, but the reminder serves its purpose particularly for others who might be inspired by the video and have skills that aren't good enough or if they're not conscious enough of the consequences. Great job, Phil!
I used to hang glide and we had a rule that probably applies to any sport in which you could die: Never more than one new thing at a time. When you're comfortable with everything else, you can give your full focus to the new thing. So in my case, new glider, new harness, new site, new weather condition, etc. In your case this would include new site, new bike, strong winds, light rain, and maybe more. I enjoyed watching, but I think it was unwise.
Phil, this might be my favorite video you've made. It's definitely in the top 10. I love the documentary feel to this one. And your I think your choice of music at the end was spot on and also perfectly timed. Again, it's nice to see the stuff that will make even some of the best think twice (or three times). Thanks for sharing this, man! I love seeing videos from my home state. Stay upright and keep the rubber side down. -Brian
Todd Spaanstra :) all 3 of these guys have more skill in their little pinky than I could dream of having. So much respect for these guys. Plus I'm scared of heights.
That is insane!! I've seen other videos of guys riding the white line but I felt like I was there. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. You da man!!
When you have bike skills, but also huge mental skills ! Good job Phil ! Really cool to see a guy like Eric Porter riding again ! A real Mtb video legend !
Great video! I've ridden up to Chicken Point many times and looked up at the White Line. Never even considered ridding it myself and have never seen anyone on it. Pretty cool to get a first person view through your video. Thanks and well done!
Phil I wish I could just automatically give you 100 thumbs up you are awesome and aren't afraid to do anything love your vids and love seeing them i watch atleast 4 vids every day and it makes me smile every time your truly someone i look up to and and i wanna be just like you.
Happy to see you all made it back safely. I have was at that location back in 2015 and pictures can never do it justice, its way over my skill set. I used to rock climb back in the day and you can never underestimate what exposure can do to your mind and nerves, it can really shake you up. Now that I am on the older side I always have have to run the question past myself when doing risky stuff, risk vs reward, on this one I would have to pass, its not worth dying for. Take care and be safe.
How does one decend efficiently on that steep drop at 6:19? I want to know because im trying to improve my brake and handling control on intimidating drops like that and even though it looks a bit short, i want to know how to immediately stop like phil did at the bottom thanks in advance..
I was on Hangover that day, the wind was really extreme so that really makes this POV even triple double more impressive! Yes, triple double more impressive! Nice work.
Awesome!!! Your videos on Sedona are making me plan my next bike trip to Arizona. Sick trails! Awesome composure in the whiteline. Great point of view from the video. Keep those videos coming!
We were driving out of town Sunday morning and I saw ya walking down the stairs that you put into the video. Oh, and that trail...I know I couldn't even walk up there let alone ride a bike. You are a freaking animal!
I think you're bravery for drinking Arizona tap water than doing whiteline! Haha, freaking awesome Phil!! I love the way you edited it. The build up was great. So cool.
The story telling in this video was on point. The pucker factor got up to 12 a few times watching this. I absolutely would never attempt this even in perfect conditions!
I don't think this is something that most people should ever consider trying. Honestly besides for the "I didn't die factor" and the views, there's nothing that cool about this line.
I have seen numerous videos of guys riding the SW but you are the first that I know. Great work and hats off to ya, man for doing that. When I first saw what this video was about I said to myself, "If there is anyone that can do this, it is YOU."
I ride the Little Horse trail up to Chicken point all the time. Each time I sit and stare at that white line thinking "some day", then I awaken from my daydream and realize that it's never going to happen.... you guys are nucking futs!
Right now I'm in Michigan freezing my ass off watching guys in Arizona riding mtn bikes ! Great vid man 🙏👍 I love mtn biking so much. I race motocross too but the past few years I've found myself spending more on mtn bikes than I have on any motocross stuff. Mtn biking is so addictive ! It keeps you in shape and is a whole lot more fun than looking at yourself in a mirror at a gym ! So cool. I recently purchased the Giant Fathom 1 with 27.5 " tubeless tires , dropper post, 1×11 drive with air forks and the wider / longer thru axles. It is a hard tail but I frikin love this bike. I'm itching for spring
Nice. I saw that white line when I did a tour and the guide talked about it. It's really cool because today I went to the broken Arrow trail too in Sedona
I have been to Sedona AZ the past 2 years for vacation. Hit all the big 3 there. i rode up to whiteline and that was scary just to look at. Glad you made it. I am from Long Island like Seth. I raced BMX for 30 years and took up downhill hountain biking 4 years ago. At 46 years old i needed a safer sport, lol. love hayleywood, it feels like a bmx track. i once did it with no breaks and no chain. fastest way down the mountain. I also have videos of doing windham mountain wilderness roll on a BMX bike! lol
I’d do that for sure. But I might not have done it on this day because of that wind. Sometimes you have to listen to that little voice in your head and mine may have been saying “nope, not today”. Nicely done fellas!
Dude you are absolutely crazy. I've seen that from down below on one of those pink Jeep tours and there's no way I would even walk that but great video he got my heart racing and love watching you stay safe brother
Nice video Phil. Bummer it was so windy. I hope to see you do this again in more ideal conditions...also without the stopping before the turn around :D. Such a sick line.
I am very, very happy you made it out alive ;) Also, I am genuinely surprised at the amount of risk vs reward negative nancy's in the comments. Yes it was windy but they made a plan and felt it out. If they had ridden it without looking at it, without discussing the risks THEN I feel the argument that they were irresponsible could be presented however, that was not the case. Keep in mind that these three guys have extensive experience on two wheels and that even though a move like this is out of their comfort zone that they are still in much more control then your regular joe-smoe. If a subscriber of this channel (or any badass outdoor channel) sees this and thinks that it is child's play and that anyone could do it then those same people have most likely participated in the Tide Pod challenge.
True. But there's plenty of ways to challenge yourself on a bike besides risking your life unnecessarily. I guess I don't get it. Even if you're a great rider, why risk your life on something like that?
Just got back from Sedona, and holy cow.... that Line is SO much more intimidating in person... it’s unreal. Otherwise I fell in love with the town. Hope you guys hit up the Cowboy Club! Their rattlesnake bites and Elk are SO delicious.
Phil, Your skills are exceptional! Ive been watching you ride for quite some time and you are very inspirational. I can only dream of having half the skills you do. Can I make a suggestion though? Please, Please cut that mustache!! lol Keep up the good work and showing us how to do things. Love the tutorials you do.

O and utube vids are always in slow motion..its hard to gauge how speed of nike..How slow can u go to successfully manual pivot..slow bunnyhops are they useful..Thx keep up the good vids..P.s nobl wheels update...28 or 24 spoke wheelset would they last
That’s a big jump up for db in my eyes!!!!first for lending the bike and second is seeing the bike handle that 4idge! Definitelychanges my perspective on db as a bike company!
Skills With Phil lol no one gets that they call me 10 - "aCe" bikes lol good stuff I will tell you I like that you don't cuss alot cause my kids watch with me I also support Seth, and Alex and mtb drop in I would love to see an episode with you 2 he is a very small channel that I think is gonna be huge I plan to support you in any way I can to keep this thing going I think you are amazing for the fact that you build your a pro turned pro UA-camr following your dreams I am a bike mechanic and I really love it it's obvious you love this too

hi Seth. i love you.

The ian shawrtz of mtb! Anyone who can do a handrail pegless is awesome in my eyes! Riding bmx my thing was hand rails so hats off to you eric!
Damn guys I think I pissed myself! Was a very cool video to watch for a passive rider thank you very much.
I’ve seen videos of people riding the white line before. This is the best I’ve seen yet.
What helmet is the old guy with the earrings wearing? NOVV? NOW? Googled and can't find it.
I love Sedona! Can't wait to go back. I looked at the white line, but didn't want to ride it alone. Next time!
It looks similar to riding along the southern slopes of Bartletts Wash in Moab, but steeper. Both deadly though if you clip a pedal or freak out.
I've walked it and it scared the crap out of me. Just watching you on video made my hands sweat. Huge kudos to you for doing it on a rental bike.

Wow my heart skipped a beat. I still feel the adrenaline!! Great work!
How much tire pressure should your tires have in order to maximize its grip?
Depends
Salaknib Guardia take off your tires for maximum grip
Sadly there's no one size fits all, and it's actually quite complete. Factors from tire casing, rubber compound, rider weight, terrain, conditions, rim width, tire width etc can affect how much PSI is idea. In this case we were not traveling very fast which means pinch flatting is unlikely. Also Lower tire pressure gives us a bigger surface area / contact patch with the ground. If we go too low, we risk rolling the tire and as well it squirm underneath.

HOLY CRAP that was gnarly and just crazy. Wow, glad you all made it.
This scared me more than Conjuring ......Respect maann.........

That roll- in when they turned around was mental! The craziest singletrack ever.

Dude, I swear I was sweating just watching you guys do this.... So intense.
So glad to see you out again! Do you watch off the ranch- Matt Carriker?

How was the diamond back bike was it up to par?
Are you doing "The Ridge" like Danny Macaskill next?
Sick! The video can’t capture it I am sure, looks amazing
Did you just google “suspenseful western music” for the background tune? Haha nice riding man
Was there an option to keep going or was that the whole trail because that would be really crazy

That’s why he’s running around filming them on the white line 💀

When do you ride with Jeff Kendall-Weed? Would be awesome!
How uncomfortable is it riding with such big balls. Great ride brother
