The opening shot of the view of the Mountain and the grass, the grass in Ireland is a different kind of green brighter more vibrant. My wife goes pictures dont do it justice the views are on a different level here, nothing to compare it with in the US.
Your tours of these beautiful old graveyards and ancient ruins are so interesting. It's sad that so much is deteriorated, but there is beauty in the plant growth too. The ancient church ruins are gorgeous. Such a lovely setting...peaceful and Mother Nature overtaking all. Thank you for such an interesting tour! I agree that seeing graffiti is so sad and frustrating!
One can only imagine how lovely this graveyard was when new,it over grown.disgusted how some beings can desecrate a church whether in ruins or not.Dunno maybe it’s a blessing that Mother Nature is reclaiming the land and perhaps providing protection to those who rest here.
What a crying shame, not only from neglect, but from the hoodlums that desecrate the resting place of our ancestors. You did have a lovely day to share your respects and share the adventure with us Sue. A very tranquil serene place thank you again for sharing with us.
I live in Vermont and each town takes care of the cemeteries. My grandfather use to mow cemeteries for the town of Milton. I use to help him to earn money to go to the big fair we have here at the end of summer.
My 5x great grandfather has been dead 200 years. He was an immigrant to Pennsylvania from Switzerland with his German wife. His small family graveyard is maintained by the township. I never knew that graveyard was the final resting place of my direct ancestors!
@zombiemom6701, every time I watch one of Serenity Sue's videos, I wonder whether my ancestors' graves have been preserved. I have some ancestors in Pennsylvania as well. The first of my ancestors who came to America (pre-revolution) purchased Poor Island in the Delaware River from William Penn. Our family genealogy buff has a copy of the deed. The island, I understand, is now the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. I don't know where those ancestors might be buried, though. Sadly, I live far away, so I've never done any exploring there.
It's a shame that when a person dies and their intered in a vault that over time that vault is going to deteriorate. And if there are no descendants to take care of it then you can be sure it's not going to last. As for those who desecrate cementaries they should be prosecuted. Greetings from Connecticut 🇺🇸
This must have been incredibly beautiful when the church was whole and tombs were newer. It’s still amazingly impressive with nature taking over. It would be nice if it could be restored, the tombs anyway, and trimmed & mowed. Thank for letting us see this place ❤
Hi Serenity Sue. I absolutely loved this story. It's just breathtaking there. So incredibly green and beautiful. I was sorry to see the church and crypts crumbling like that. It's to bad they couldn't have been restored when it first started. I was saddened to see the bones lying in there. You are Amazing and I was happy to see your husband there with you. It looked like it would be easy to fall in that cemetery, especially with the sunken in ground and the overgrown areas. What a blessing you are. Thank you very much for sharing that story. I would never get to see anything as Beautiful as that. I'm blessed you took me along with you. Thanks again ❤️👍
I live in rural Texas and we have a very old abandoned cemetery near our home I brought it to the attention of our area Boy Scouts and they took on the clean up as an Eagle Scout project. Win win for all
I'm a new subscriber, from Denver, Colorado. Spent three weeks in Ireland last month and love visiting historic places, including churches and graveyards. I appreciate the respect you afford the forgotten and neglected dead. Thank you for these videos.
I found this information: The mostly protestant graveyard was in use from the mid-18th century. The current ruined church was probably built on the foundations of an earlier one. The church was rebuilt around 1770, but quickly fell into disrepair with the bankruptcy of the local landlord in 1793 and was abandoned in 1810.
So wonderful yet so sad to see the state of it. Are there not societies in Ireland that are formed to deal with volunteers to clean up these old places? The idea of leaving such to families that may have died out is sad. So many vaults opened up and remains exposed. I hope that your videos might bring attention to places such as this. Thanks for all you do.
Thanks, yes on occasion we have historical societies and volunteers who come in, clean the area and record the names but then that's it, these places need continual care
My family came from Ireland in the 1840's so when I heard you say maybe their family isn't here anymore, it made me think. You are right tho, there is alot of beauty in the nature taking back what we have made in our past things we think will last forever only last a few generations..

Hello from Montana, USA. What a beautiful place. Cemeteries don't bother me at all. I don't see them as scary. I think they're one of the more peaceful places to be.
Hello from United States, State of Kentucky. I find it a little neat seeing the older styles of cemeteries, from all over. Think I will tag along , if you don’t mind? Tc.
According to what I read in irish law the holder of the land, which is a cemetery or burrial ground, is to maintain it in good order. It even has provisions for fencing. It doesn't mention deconsecration as an abrogation of responsibility. Human skeletal remains are not really a health hazard. Mainly disconcerting to some people. This site as noted by you has a serious structural safety issues. In fact I wonder why the area has not been fenced off. By the looks of some they should be demolished and filled in. Then any found markers placed back on top. That would also secure the remains. The trouble is money and will. However when the wild flowers come out that place must be pretty.
I have seen this type of thing on my graveyard walks. I always carry a bag of plain whits flour to rub onto any inscriptions that are difficult to read, it does no harm and can be washed off with water. I keep all of my info stored, as I have had a few people contact me to see if I can help them with any family names, and where the graves are. Another little gem of footage.
There is something about old overgrown graveyards that I like beauty and decay, I find it very sad that someone can desecrate the place just why they do it? no respect for the dead. Thank you Sue 👏👏💜💜
Hi Sue and GV ! Sad to see the ruins and destruction. But after seeing the big dips in the ground, i wonder if there is a cave beneath the cemetery. That would also explain some of the destruction. There are lots of caves in Ky. But actually both grave robbers and caves could be responsible. Regardless it's ashame. So disrespectful . I appreciate that you shared this video ! Ireland is such a beautiful place ! Thanks !
That,s so sad how those tombs are crumbling. Time and decay claim everything back. What beautiful crosses though. These cemeteries in Ireland are absolutely so green and peaceful. Stay safe Sue!❤😊
These grave yards breaks my heart..I understand that most are very old and, no family left to care for them. It's so very sad. I personally think every city, county, country. Who ever..There should be money grants to preserve these resting places..That's why I'm being cremated and, enter with my husband who died at 21 while in the navy. War didn't get him it was lack of the medical care. He had a tooth pulled and 3 months later died from and abscess that the tooth caused that traveled through his nasal cavity to his brain😥. That was 1981. I never remarried, and raised our 18 month old daughter. I'm 63 now. 20 when he passed. Sorry for the long story but cemeteries like these breaks my heart..Love your videos, I live in the US so it's very interesting seeing other countries resting places. Thank you. God Bless.🩵🙏
Thank you for sharing your story, I'm so sorry you lost your husband at such a young age. That must have been heartbreaking for you all. Yes, I agree, the church is rich enough to take care of these old graveyards I'm sure, or at the very least a grant should be there to help take care of these forgotten graves
Is there anyone that can help in these extreme circumstances? Because it’s so old,is there a heritage fund ,or someone else that can help, church of England or the catholic community,Vatican even? Council? When there’s no family, completely derelict? Surely there must be some sort of help somewhere. I share your thoughts. This is a serious problem. Thankyou for doing the right thing calling the cops xx
We've tried to get help so many times, we've reached out and asked for help but the answer is always the same, which is no or they'll look into it. They never do
I truly appreciate the care, and respect you show. I live in Texas and my grans family settled in KY a VERY LONG TIME AGO. Her family tree goes back to County Cork.
Sue, of course your content was great as usual. I must say though……I’m from NWO Canada 🇨🇦 and in our graveyard we have someone who works there daily. They keep all the grounds cut and weeded and edged out they keep the sidewalks clean and maintain the grounds greatly. If there is something wrong or out of place with a grave the family is immediately called and arrangements have to be made to fix the issue. Therefore, The cemetery is always kept up and cleaned. Im really surprised that doesn’t happen there, especially in these beautiful big old historical places. Just saying is all. Much love 💚❤️💚 to all and take care and stay happy, healthy, and safe!!! ❤️💚❤️
I hear you, our new cemeteries work like that but the old... well unless volunteers go there to care, it becomes forgotten plus we need family permission to be allowed to touch headstones
Hiya Sue. Just sub'ed your channel. Loved the respect you showed to the graves lined by the iron ring. Absolutely beautiful blue sky. I visited Ireland back in 1987 while I was based in England in the U.S.Air Force. I was 24 then and I loved it. I am about to retire soon and am looking forward to a return visit.
Perhaps a local townspeople could get together, start a “go fund me” and just make it a point of closing permanently all those that are open or partly open. Then put a fence around it! Obviously there’s no one left to care about the people buried there. Sad I such a beautiful place! 🤔🤔✝️🇨🇦🇨🇦
It is a beautiful place and very remote, we had to walk down a lane to find this, considering police and the church were asked to take care of it and no one did, I'd like to hope that locals can organise something to sort out the place
Very unique cemetery, so many open vaults, I was starting to get a little worried when you showed us the dip in the Earth. With so much overgrowth you can just never tell what secret slide (secrets lie)beneath. Thanks Voice text for the typos😂 TY for the walkabout, stay safe and please don't slide beneath LOL always enjoy these videos with my evening tea. Hi from Indianapolis Southside 👋22:06
This does look like a beautiful place , it's always a shame to see cemeteries and the people buried there left abandoned , unfortunately here too I get frustrated when I see such cemeteries and make enquiries only to be told it's up to the families to restore thier graves but like you said when there is no one left who is there to look after graves , and it is terrible to tag or graffiti ruins or graves so sad Sue but thankyou for sharing still beautiful in its decayed way ❤
Awesome video I live in the United States 🇺🇸 in the state of Kentucky it's beautiful here were I live because I live in the mountains it's so peaceful here
Most enjoyable video. Had a similar experience locally when I found apparent human bones in a local graveyard. Caused the local police a lot of bother when I reported it,they brought in forensic biologists, forensic pathologists, and other ologists. Turned out they were 500 year old bones. Too hard to solve. Thanks again. From the UK.
I am fairly new. My grandfather was of Scottish & Irish decent. His parents brought the whole family over at one time. I was born and still reside in Texas, U.S.A. My father was from LA, my great grandparents were traders and owned two trading posts. I see both my fathers and my Moms maiden name here and there, I was only 9 years old when I started loosing the stories of my father's grandparents. Their early death's made it difficult to know all the stories, we know allot about my Moms family through DNA searching the history. So I find your efforts interesting. Keep up the great work! A new fan, Angie
Holy Batsh*t Batgirl, nice find and proper thing to do. I may be crazy but something actually very charming and serene about Nature actually reclaiming of the land. I would be fine with interment in a place like that. I do like nature and history so I am most likely biased. Hope you both are doing well. Cheers
Sue, thank you for making the visit to this place. These are the kinds of places that although beautiful have not been looked after and your right it always boils down to what family is left to do the care then once they are gone this is what we have. Take care. Peace & love.
What a shame that those remains are uncovered. You live in a truly beautiful country. Have you guys ever done a night visit to any locations and if not have you been tempted.
Hello Serenity Sue. I am playing catch up on your videos. I have been to Ireland Beautiful Country. So, Sad to see vandalism in these beautiful historic burial sites. Heart breaking. Thank you for all you do. Cheers Jean Crosby
I retired as a Police Sergeant 29 yrs ago and on two separate occasions in my service have known of vaults being vandalised and on one occasion a human skull was left in a shop doorway. Th only thing we could do was hand it to the local vicar of the identified graveyard who returned it to the vault. As for the maintenance and repairs of private tombs it is down to the deceased's family and not the church. There are so many abandoned graveyards that exceed the scope of local volunteer groups who willingly try to tidy them up. If only we had an organisation like the war graves commission who make such a wonderful job of maintaining war graves throughout the world.
There is an old Mausoleum not far from my house here in the states. It is falling apart since the owner past away decades ago. Unfortunately the cost of moving the hundreds of caskets out of the dilapidated Mausoleum falls totally on the family (as you mentioned there in Ireland). The adjacent cemetery too is in unkempt condition and the city refuses to step in.
It's amazing how nobody wants to take responsibility for something like this. We do have problems with grave robbing in the US too and loads of abandoned cemeteries.
My Great Grandparents came over to the States from Ireland, it saddens me to think my ancestors graves could be in such a state. My Dad born in 1901, in the states didn't talk much of Ireland. I would love to go there and learn more ! Well if you run into any Carey's let me know. God Bless you for caring ! 。⌒° ᵗʰᵃⁿᵏ ʚ(ෆ❛ั▿❛ัʃƪ)ɞ ʸᵒᵘ ♡°⌒。

Hi, yes I'd love if you tagged along xx
Thanks John, I put the newspaper report under the video, what you say makes perfect sense, thanks
@@SerenitySueGraveyards Good thing you go as a team to places like this. Safety first.
Cheers for that
Beautiful scenery.Beautiful voice.Beautifully done😊
Thanks David ❤️
Love your accent!! Im from St. Louis Missouri, USA
Hi Michelle, from where I'm from my accent is called a bog hopper lol appreciate it ❤️
There is something about old overgrown graveyards that I like beauty and decay, I find it very sad that someone can desecrate the place just why they do it? no respect for the dead. Thank you Sue 👏👏💜💜
Thanks Jules, yes I agree with the beauty in Decay, like time stood still. No respect, ugh nearly made me sick that terrible spray graffiti
Thanks !
Thanks Denise, I never even thought of that
To clean up that cemetery? Is going to be one major undertaking. But, if and when it was to be done could be a beautiful place.
It would be a huge undertaking
That,s so sad how those tombs are crumbling. Time and decay claim everything back. What beautiful crosses though. These cemeteries in Ireland are absolutely so green and peaceful. Stay safe Sue!❤😊
Love that nature reclaims to an extent but I hate seeing the vaults as they are
These grave yards breaks my heart..I understand that most are very old and, no family left to care for them.
I could watch your and GV videos for hours Sue..They’re just so calming and serene 😊
Thanks so much Bailey that's so kind 😊
Enjoying this from British Columbia Canada. Take care Sue ❤
Thanks a million
Sorry guys I forgot. I'm watching the video now! Cheers.
Naughty step for you Kris...but if you watch the video, you won't get into trouble lol
They never do
@@SerenitySueGraveyards such a shame Hun .. it’s wrong them not responding.
I truly appreciate the care, and respect you show. I live in Texas and my grans family settled in KY a VERY LONG TIME AGO. Her family tree goes back to County Cork.
Thank you, Cork is brilliant, I love it
Sue, of course your content was great as usual.
Thanks for subscribing, I really hope you come
Thank you for another wonderful program. I'm from Pennsylvania.
You're so welcome 🙏
Thanks Sandra, my brain sometimes just makes me say the most silly things lol then in edit I'm thinking, What the heck!!! Lol
People from around there should volunteer and clean it up its a shame really war heroes and early pioneers the people that started this country
Unfortunately I've seen this many times, the generation who cared the most are all gone or too old
@@SerenitySueGraveyards that's why this generation should clean it how can you honor the dead with that mess
I agree but we've tried Fran, we get told no time and time again it's ridiculous
This does look like a beautiful place , it's always a shame to see cemeteries and the people buried there left abandoned , unfortunately here too I get frustrated when I see such cemeteries and make enquiries only to be told it's up to the families to restore thier graves but like you said when there is no one left who is there to look after graves , and it is terrible to tag or graffiti ruins or graves so sad Sue but thankyou for sharing still beautiful in its decayed way ❤
Hi Julia, thanks a million 😊
@@SerenitySueGraveyards your welcome lovely 😍
Thank you for all the hard work you do to bring us these amazing videos ... 🥰
Thanks Ruth, I absolutely adore doing this ❤️
You are so blessed to live in Ireland. It is so beautiful.
Thanks Terri, I do feel blessed. Its a beautiful place
Hello from the US. Beautiful countryside. Love your accents. 😊❤
Thanks so much
The bigger the tomb, the bigger the stones, the bigger the target for grave robbers. !!!
That's so true
Awesome video I live in the United States 🇺🇸 in the state of Kentucky it's beautiful here were I live because I live in the mountains it's so peaceful here
You are very lucky David
Most enjoyable video. Had a similar experience locally when I found apparent human bones in a local graveyard. Caused the local police a lot of bother when I reported it,they brought in forensic biologists, forensic pathologists, and other ologists. Turned out they were 500 year old bones. Too hard to solve. Thanks again. From the UK.
Wow imagine, very sad
I am fairly new. My grandfather was of Scottish & Irish decent. His parents brought the whole family over at one time. I was born and still reside in Texas, U.S.A. My father was from LA, my great grandparents were traders and owned two trading posts. I see both my fathers and my Moms maiden name here and there, I was only 9 years old when I started loosing the stories of my father's grandparents. Their early death's made it difficult to know all the stories, we know allot about my Moms family through DNA searching the history. So I find your efforts interesting. Keep up the great work! A new fan,
Angie
Hi Angie, that's very interesting
Holy Batsh*t Batgirl, nice find and proper thing to do. I may be crazy but something actually very charming and serene about Nature actually reclaiming of the land. I would be fine with interment in a place like that. I do like nature and history so I am most likely biased.
Hope you both are doing well.
Cheers
Hey Chubba, long time no see, how are you
Sue, thank you for making the visit to this place. These are the kinds of places that although beautiful have not been looked after and your right it always boils down to what family is left to do the care then once they are gone this is what we have. Take care. Peace & love.
Hi, you are so welcome as always ❤️
What a shame that those remains are uncovered. You live in a truly beautiful country. Have you guys ever done a night visit to any locations and if not have you been tempted.
Oh we are definitely going to do one, we did a live Halloween walk at night it's on the channel, at the end there were fireworks it was amazing
May theses forgotten souls rest in peace
What a beautiful place. It’s so quiet even with the airport near by
Thank you for showing a little piece of beauty.
It was beautiful, birds singing, a soft breeze. The woods around and mountains too.
These places need to be cared for
So much history
That's true 👍
Hello Serenity Sue. I am playing catch up on your videos. I have been to Ireland Beautiful Country. So, Sad to see vandalism in these beautiful historic burial sites. Heart breaking. Thank you for all you do. Cheers Jean Crosby
Thanks Jean
My husband is from Cork. Came to USA a kid. Love your beautiful Irish brogue. Love where you travel.
Thanks so much
I retired as a Police Sergeant 29 yrs ago and on two separate occasions in my service have known of vaults being vandalised and on one occasion a human skull was left in a shop doorway.
Thanks Barry, yes it's the same here, completely down to family
It is a beautiful place ! It must have been magnificent in its day ! I wish the property owners would take care of it. Its a shame .
Me too Denise, it's very sad
Beauty and decay indeed. Great video Sue ♥️
Thanks Cathi, I agree stunning
There is an old Mausoleum not far from my house here in the states. It is falling apart since the owner past away decades ago. Unfortunately the cost of moving the hundreds of caskets out of the dilapidated Mausoleum falls totally on the family (as you mentioned there in Ireland). The adjacent cemetery too is in unkempt condition and the city refuses to step in.
I just think it's terrible no one seems to care, I mean without our past we wouldn't even be here 💔
It's amazing how nobody wants to take responsibility for something like this. We do have problems with grave robbing in the US too and loads of abandoned cemeteries.
It's such a shame
My. Grandmother use. To. Say......don't. Be afraid of. The. Dead. ......be afraid of the. Living....
Well Edward, I still say that to this day, your Grandmother was right
The. Old timers believe in. That. Stuff.......now. I. Do. To..
Thanks Sandra, hopefully I will and you might be related

Hi Narelle, my pleasure 🙏
There are some very old Graves in the Springville Cemetery in Springville Iowa. There is a Cemetery just off Highway 151 near Springville Iowa. You can see it from Highway 151.
Hello Sue, Arizona here, this video is a good one, and it's a beautiful place to rest, or just to have lunch , you do a wonderful job on your videos 👍💯👍💯 thanks for sharing...

Thanks so much, you too ❤️
Looking forward to that
Thanks John
What a shame Sue how sad to see the ruins. Imagine if the trees could talk and tell you the history of this place. The church must have been so beautiful. Please take care am so concerned for your safety.
Thank you ❤️
In such a state it's heart breaking
Hi Marie, it sure is
Well, People had one or few photographs to remind them, the memories were in the head, and now Evertone has a thousand + videos in HD.
Hey Tom
That is a shame that it turned out this way
It sure is Sandra
Such a shame no family to take care of the graves but it was such a long time ago it would have been beautiful back in the day such a very interisting video god bless them souls ☘
Thanks Margaret
When you look at many of these very old cemeteries and how they have gone back to nature and grave robbers that cremation makes sense.
Yes it makes sense
