    UPDATE: If you have Nvidia RTX in your PC you may be able to change from AMD FSR sharpening (default) → Nvidia DLSS sharpening in the "System Settings" > "Graphic Settings" and thus address the issue that way. Seem the problem may be an issue with the FSR default setting and doing the scaling method 100 to 99 method helps whatever is happening to be bypassed.
    Hopefully there is a more concrete solution in the near future, but wanted to make this video to help in the meantime :)

      It may be a me problem but after 7.0 my game with nvidia DLSS sharpening has made character models look all pixelated. I have RTX 3060 12GB. Switching it to AMD FSR With 99 scaling helped the problem though so I guess until I figure out the issue with NVIDIA, I will just keep the option set to AMD FSR

  • @olebrumme6356
    @olebrumme6356 Місяць тому +18

    It was the same when WoW had it added. At 100% resolution scale it's deactivated, so what you're seeing is the actual default graphics, not some bugged blurry one. Setting it to 99.9% even would activate FSR. DLSS runs like shit and you can't even change quality currently.

    • @noasaitoshii
      @noasaitoshii  Місяць тому +4

      Oh! Interesting. Hmm so like in my case I don’t have Nvidia at all in my computer so my understanding is that I don’t have access to DLSS even if I wanted to.
      Could you help me understand: so is it that
      A. At 3D scaling 100, AMD FSR is OFF and what we are seeing is the base Dawntrail graphics that overrides any of our computers built in sharpening. Then at 99 FSR is allowed to kick in? (FSR is a good thing here)
      B. At 3D scaling 100, AMD FSR is ON and somehow overcompensating and “downgrading” the graphics. By turning scaling to 99 we cause FSR to no longer activate which allows the actual graphics as they are meant to be to shine through.

      @@noasaitoshii Option A would be most correct. However, I wouldn't say the game overrides anything. With Nvidia GPU I don't have FSR on a driver/software level, but can still use it, because it's integrated in the game.
      Currently I'm using FSR + Nvidia overlay sharpening. DLSS was a letdown in this game, think they messed up the integration.

    • @buzzdx
      @buzzdx Місяць тому +3

      dlss runs perfectly fine imo. just be aware that as long as you are above the threshold fps, it will not use actual dlss, but dlaa, the anti aliasing solution, which makes the game look absolutely amazing and smooth, but comes at a slight performance hit , not a boost. only when your fps goes below your set threshold will dlss kick in for improving performance.

    • @olebrumme6356

      @@olebrumme6356 no when selecting dlss there is another setting saying "below 60 fps" or "below 30 fps" for me. if you drop below that amount of fps, dlss will kick in

    Please note that the way this works is FSR 1.X injects a very basic crude sharpening filter to help with the upscaling it does. This effect while It might look pleasing to some is NOT the intended look of the game. If you WANT sharpening I'd look to try adjusting your monitor/tv's sharpening setting Or for PC players using Reshade for a more advanced and customizable sharpening shader.

    • @noasaitoshii
      @noasaitoshii  Місяць тому +1

      Good clarification! Agreed that it makes sense that this isn't the intended look and there's other ways to potentially get more optimized results. This was just a quick lil trick to get a more sharpened look with super minimal effort.
      For those that enjoy it great! for those that want to explore a more in depth "fix" or preservation of the intended graphics, they'd be encouraged to delve a little deeper into settings and optimization :)

  • @pabs9550
    @pabs9550 Місяць тому +3

    As people have already said this happens because FSR only activates if the render resolution scale is not at 100%. But the extra sharpness you see if because FSR has its own built in sharpening effect. Which I actually think is terrible, it adds so much noise to the picture making everything look jagged and unnatural. But I guess this is a matter of personal preference. There are better sharpening filters through reshade as an example, that do a much better job of sharpening the image and not making it so incredibly noisy.

    • @Rynn21

      mhmm!! totally agree that this is not necessarily the most optimized "fix" for this. I'm sure that with the right shader/other tweaking of settings you could get a much nicer and more balanced effect. this was just a really quick fast and easy fix for those that might like this look :)

      @@iaintdepressed Prior to Dawntrail release I was using Contrast Limited Sharpening. Now I am using AMD Fidelity FX Contrast Adaptive Sharpening. With the graphic update I find it to be a little more subtle than the other one. But with most of these you can play around with the intensity. I personally don't like it when the game is too sharp as it makes the image too noisy specially when looking at stuff at a distance.
