    It's amusing how most of the comments are rather negative just based on this one trailer, and all have not seen the film yet. Have seen bits and pieces, and trust me, it tackles a lot of material, most interviews are current (a few are archived by artists no longer with us, but they are keeping their legacy), and super 8 films never seen before by anyone but the owners of the films and those who constructed this. This film only tackles the 'classic' years. From 1959 to 1972. Wait, see it, then make a comment. Those who love Motown will no doubt enjoy this

    • @Dion_Mustard
      @Dion_Mustard 4 роки тому

      @@mic6434 the only reason Diana took Motown to the heights of entertainment is because Berry put 100% of his attention into her and the group. Brenda never got the same treatment. Mary Wells did, but she sadly left the group. There were other artists at Motown who had hit after hit - such as Kim Weston - but she is always excluded from these Motown shows. It ain't fair.

At 6 years I had my own little transistor radio listening to Cousin Brucie and Murray the K spinning records across the river. Watched the entire documentary on Showtime, and it was superbly crafted, except that...Jamie Foxx was in it. Huh? Seriously? NO MENTION of The Contours, The Andantes, The Commodores, Dennis Edwards, Edwin Starr, The Spinners, the Ruffin Bros., Willie Hutch, Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons and numerous other towering Motown artists. Only one tiny, passing mention of Tammi Terrell and The Marvelettes, but time for the inclusion of Jamie Foxx? I love Motown and grew up on the music and culture so this was informative, but at the same time so lacking and disrespectful to the pillars of the label who put it on the map.

      MOVIES R US Usually these Motown documentaries typically turn out the same, re-telling the same stories that focus on the same select few artists on the Motown roster while others just casually get mentioned in passing. I want to see all the artists get their proper recognition and not just The Supremes, Temptations, Smokey, The Miracles, etc.
      But this latest documentary looks better with a lot of never-before-seen footage and in HD. I have higher hopes for it, and hopefully it won’t disappoint.
