C8: 245/40 R21, C5: 225/55 R17, so the difference in diameter is *50,1 mm* . Does it really make such a difference in the test result?
Let's recall the extreme case where the difference in diameter was *121,1 mm* - *Audi Q5 (255/45 R20)* vs *Suzuki Ignis (175/60 R16)* .
Assuming that the diameter of the tires has a colossal influence on the test, the Q5 should slay the Ignis. And how was it - check it out in the link above!

@@4x4.tests.on.rollers sory mam audi c5 2.8 quattro2000 r i w życiu by się tak nie zachowała. Wyskoczyła by z tych rolek w sekundę. Może wychodziły jakieś lepsze napędy? Ja mam torsen i dochamowywanie kół więc jak się koło uślizguje to słychać jak pracują hamulce i idzie jak pocisk do przodu. Zimą tarcze podczas długiej zabawy nagrzewają się prawie do czerwoności.
@@maniekcivic Zapraszam na test i jednocześnie zapewniam, że nie wyskoczy w sekundę, to jest znacznie trudniejsze dla układu niż się wydaje. Co innego, jeśli koła mają zbliżoną przyczepność (np. zimą na śniegu), a co innego kiedy przyczepność jest różna. System hamujący koła (EDL) miał w tamtym czasie dwie wersje, inna była dla samochodów z ESP, a inna dla samochodów bez ESP.

I have Audi A6 C5 quattro with 2.7 biturbo engine end manual transmission. It is a great car end i dont change for 4 new cars. My car is old but, the new models have many, many electronic on them. Electronic = many problems !
Exactly!!! I love my 2.7biturbo. It's 25years old, 250'000 km ... And every 20yo Golf GTI-Driver cries in his ridiculous teenage-mustache, when I'm behind his little farting car. 😂
The old allroad was also available with Low Range, zero wheel spin when one axle is on rollers. It would also do much better with 3 rollers.
i have allroad 2003 manual 6Q with low range,but no rollers to test it :D
manual says there is more agressive EDS and ABS as low range have much bigger torque... so it also needs more agressive EDS and ABS ,else it would not be effective at all compare to increased torque

Wow. Awd has come a long way for these cars.
Te old one is torsen (clasic quattro) and the new one has quattro ultra that functions the same as xdrive using a transfer case, that makes it a lot better. But anyone thinks tosen quattro is the best because audi spent a lot on publicity... But xdrive and quattro ultra are far better as you can see.

@@czarnykurczak A było, ale tam były różne rodzaje AWD w zależności od skrzyni. Wkrótce będzie porównanie dokładnie takich samych samochodów pod każdym względem, tylko z inna skrzynią, chodzi o jedną z największych wtop ostatnich lat :)
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers hmm... Tiptronic odpada. oczywiście nie mówisz też o DSG. Skrzynie aisin z volvo to dobre skrzynie tylko nie lubią jak nimi szarpie haldex. Skrzynie automatyczne w bmw to mistrzostwo. Jakaś CVT Korea/Japonia?

What a nice a6 the New one
The diagonal and one-wheel test should have a better chance the on low wheel speeds. Since these are open diffs, they use EDS (electronic differential lock using the ABS system to transfer braking force to the spinning wheels), which deactivates above a certain speed (e.g. 30km/h on an older Quattro). If that happens, chances to get down from the rollers are very slim.
These are low speeds.

Witam! Dzięki wielkie za testy!!! Super pomocna robota! Prośba i sugestia, by zebrać ile się da modeli Subaru. Np. Forestera i Outback. Porównać różne automaty ze sobą i kontra manual. W różnych modelach rocznikowych stosowano inne rozwiązania kończąc na najbardziej skomplikowanym w Subaru Impreza STI. Mnie by zależało na tych bardziej uterenowionych. Dodam że automat w pozycji pierwszego biegu spina międzyosiowy. Super jeśli są chętni do użyczania aut i pomogą w trapiącym wielu temacie co lepsze!? Podobnie z chęcią bym zobaczył czy sprawa nie jest podobna w Audi C5 Allroad?! Automat vs Manual? Serdecznie Pozdrawiam! Będę czekał na coś takiego gdyż nie ukrywam coś takiego chcę kupić dla fanu ryby grzyby i tak po prostu!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

What gearbox is does the old 2.7 have? Automatic, Manual, or LowRange? Does the Gearbox differ in it's functionality, compared to the normal A6, or is it just the ground-clearence, that mainly differs?
Manual, no low range. I don't know if it is different from normal A6.

I think the problem of the C5 is that it doesn't get enough torque onto one wheel when on three rollers and additionally the ESP responds rather sluggish compared to the much newer C8. However I think that on the road the C5's AWD is more than adequate :)
You think? :) If a car doesnt move.. yes, that means not enough torque to the ground :) Always.
Problem is though that its not just sluggish... it never responds enough. No matter how long you wait for it.
Of course that AWD is still a great improvement over 2WD. What's irritating though is that the system is not programmed to make full use of what it actually has to its disposal already.. They could easily have done it better by just altering some rows of programming code. Or maybe just remove most of it...
But its far from the only system like that.
@@martinsvensson6884 I totally agree with you, Martin! It could've been better like you mentioned and in some tests it performed better without ESP than with it...
old EDL only brakes one wheel at a time for a short "burst". ideally it would brake all 3 on the rollers to get grip to the one on the ground.
@@martinsvensson6884 my best guess is that the ABS module does not allow for braking more than one slipping wheel at a time, also its just a very short brake duration. I'm pretty sure the hardware does not allow for better EDL. a modern ABS module retrofit would be awesome!
If he would hold the brake pedal down part way, there would be a torque reaction at all wheels and the Torsen could then have something to multiply. Without using the Torsen correctly, the thing is not going to work. User error.

How did you guys make those cars rwd then fwd?
We didn't, they are awd.
The systems should be faster. Just put some clutch plates that electronically engages as soon as one wheel rotates faster.. if you cant make the brakes do it. Should happen in not more than 1/4 wheel rotation if you ask me... if even that. Much less should be possible.
You dont want the wheels to spin several turns like that if you're on sand fx.. they will dig themselves in before the other wheels fully start pushing and then you're stuck regardless...
It can't happen immediately because it will start to turn on just when you will make fast turn on road, so it's safety feature
@@janisduncitis8533 Haha :) No its not a safety feature :) Its supposed to turn on to stop spinning wheels. If you take a corner and get wheel spin.. THAT can be dangerous.
How then would the motor get any kind of power? When the wheel isn’t even allowed to spin once?
There are situations where you want a lot of wheel spin to get unstuck. There are much less situations where you don’t want hardly any wheel spin. PLUS, I’ve seen Audis stuck in the sand and out of fear of digging himself deeper, the owner doesn’t spin the wheels. I’ve then seen the same Audi, same sand, different driver. Driver mashed the pedal, wheel spin and sand flying everywhere and the Audi had ZERO problem of getting free!!!
What I’m getting at with everything that I just I said; is that it’s ALL RELATIVE!! Situations, locations, temperature,weather, tire wear, driver, etc etc etc etc

On c5 the amount of traction supplied to each wheel depends of the ABS model/software.
Even though it is torsen, without abs it's just a car that won't move an inch if the wheels are on rollers diagonally. (Right front-rear left)
I have 4 of them (C5) 2 low range, 1 manually swaped, 1 auto.
Didn't know that C5 ALLROAD came with a low range , although it would be great in bad road conditions :D
@@granit96 yes, manuals, have the low range option. All of them. If there is no low range, the gearbox was probably changed with a normal one.

Nowe quattro lepsze pod każdym względem. Gdyby nie elektronika to C5 by w żadnej próbie nie wyjechała.

Wheel size is helping a lot to new Audi. Doesn't get so "trapped" in rollers.
Actually the difference in "trap" is marginal, ~2 mm.

@@4x4.tests.on.rollers But the height of the center of the wheel axle above ground must increase more than just 2mm.... ? Wheels look quite a lot bigger.. That will also have an effect. The other wheels will then have an easier time pushing that wheel forward out of the trap. The force * distance (center wheel axle to ground) will be greater.

These are original Audi wheels from A8.

No. Their gearing is different, especially with the manual transmission, but the Quattro system is the same.
There's a difference in EDL system - A6 C5 Allroad with low gear has additional stage.

Смотрю второе ваше видео и понимаю - что-то с вашей а6 не так, у вас проблемы с ESP. Моя машина так себя не ведёт - малейшая разница в скорости между колесами - начинает зажимать буксующую ось. На подъёмнике в автосервисе приходится выключать ESP если нужно покрутить колёсами. Поищите на Ютюбе по запросу - диагональный свес а6.
Everything is fine, no ESP problem. That's how it works in Audi cars from those years with ESP/EDL. System is based on torque balance, not wheelspin.

Ludzie myślą, że jak masz napisz quattro to nic ci nie grozi i częściowo mają rację. W quattro nie chodzi o jazdę w terenie ani o pokonywanie przeszkód gdzie wymagany jest napęd na jedno koło. Od tego są samochody z blokadami dyferencjałów i żadna elektronika tego nie zastąpi bo do jej działania nie wystarczą tryby ale potrzeba czujników i sprzęgieł elektrycznych co zwiększa koszty i awaryjność. Nie wiem co bym dal za możliwość blokowania torsena w mojej roladzie... nigdy nie wjeżdżałem na rolki ale jeździłem po wszystkim innym i z moich obserwacji podstawa to nie zatrzymać samochodu. Jeżeli koła ciągle się kręcą to z wyłączonym ESP da się za pomocą gazu fajnie kontrolować trakcję a ABS "czuje" które koło się ślizga i czuć jego interwencje bo nie da się całkowicie wyłączyć elektrycznego mózgu. Z włączonym ESP jest super na drodze ale w gorszych warunkach moc jest odcinana i auto zwalnia więc jest to zdecydowanie system na drogę i auto też. Współczuję ludziom uważającym, że Allroad to auto terenowe. To jest tylko auto o zwiększonym prześwicie. Zawieszenie nadal pracuje w takim samym zakresie i nadal jest aluminiowe, wielowachaczowe, dyferencjały nadal są otwarte. Można założyć trochę agresywniejsze opony i to sprawdzi się na śniegu o wiele lepiej niż zimówki ale kiedy jest możliwość, że opona nagle zetknie się z twardą skałą czy korzeniami to ryzykujemy ukręcenie półosi albo polowy ekspresowy demontaż przegubów. Bo to jest auto drogowe! Ale i tak nie chcę już auta z napędem na jedną oś, no chyba, że amerykańskie.
Z tego, co pamiętam to Allroad z reduktorem miał możliwość zablokowania torsena. Precyzującąc - nie była to blokada tylko pominięcie centralnego dyfra po wpięciu reduktora.
dajcie 16" do tej C 8 takie jak ma C 5 to zobaczymy haha... a jak by do C 5 przełożyć te 20" albo i 21" za pewne na minimum szerokie 235/45 z C 8 to by ta C 5 na zgaszonym motorze wyjechała bez problemu i jeszcze na haku by mogła mieć zapiętą tą C 8 chcąc pokazać jaka jest różnica i coś porównywać jeszcze przede wszystkim jak w tym przypadku jeśli chodzi o napęd i przyczepność. To Pierwszą najważniejsza i podstawową rzecz jaką by do równych rywalizacji wypadało zastosować to Koła i ich ogumienie które powinno być dokładnie takie samo w jednym jak i w drugim samochodzie, cale,firma i model opon jak i szerokość z wysokością powinna być identyczne w obu autach,
Obydwa samochody mają oryginalne koła/homologowane rozmiary i na takich mają być testowane, a nie na jakiś ulepach. Rodzaj opony sam w sobie nie ma tu żadnego znaczenia. A różnica w tym, jak siedzą w rolce to jakieś 2 mm:
245/40 R21 (promień 364,70 mm).
225/55 R17 (promień 339,65 mm).

Zrób natomiast to, co proponowałeś w pierwszym swoim komentarzu, czyli pozamieniaj koła w tych samochodach i zobacz, jak to oceni komputer, jakie prędkości pokaże i jak z tego tytułu zaprzęgnie do pracy odpowiednie układy. *Samochody stoją na swoich oryginalnych kołach* i tego nikt zmieniał nie będzie. Some owners say that stages 3 and 4 of suspension level are changing the operation of EDL. I haven't seen any official info about it, only about low range changing the EDL intervention.

@@4x4.tests.on.rollers for every version but level 3 and 4 controls more esp than edl . EDL works different with esp off and special on cars with low range . When activated edl is than even more "aggressive" but suppressed when cornering because it would lead to undesirable EDL control activation . Activating low range or esp off "off road abs is activated also special feature on allroad . SAC clutch is in allroad ... lot of different things than in normal c5 . Very very interesting car but lot of people dont know all diferences .

Moim zdaniem jest to z dupy, bo tutaj to już kwestia jak gaz wciskasz, a nawet jeśli pomijając to. To czy na obydwóch autach są te same opony? Bo chyba nie
Gaz wciskany jest podobnie, do 20-25 km/h. W momencie wykrycia poślizgu kontrolę i tak przejmuje elektronika. Opony są inne i nie mają wpływu na wynik testu, kołom na asfalcie przyczepności nie brakuje.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers co do gazu to robi złudzenie jakby w C8 był on agresywniej wciskany. Ale może mi się wydaję. Ale co do opon to wydaje mi się,że dużo roboty to daje stan bieżnika i miękkość gumy bo robiąc test na 10letnij zimowce, a na świeżej to dwie inne bajki
@@robot4359 Wciskanie gazu to czynnik ludzki, dlatego też powtarzamy podejścia jeśli są jakieś wątpliwości, ale zasady są te same - nie za delikatnie, nie gwałtownie, prędkość do 25 km/h. That's not possible. Both cars have original, homologated sizes of wheels, they can't have the same ones.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers I understand but the test won't be completely fair with different sizes, small wheels go inside the pads while the big ones sit on top of the pads. Bigger ones have better grip.

Let's recall the extreme case where the difference in diameter was 121,1 mm - Audi Q5 (255/45 R20) vs Suzuki Ignis (175/60 R16) .

Po kolei. Przede wszystkim celem testu jest sprawdzenie, czy system sam skutecznie będzie hamował koła, po to jest EDL, żeby kierowca nie musiał stosować takich tricków. Po drugie - większość nowszych samochodów ma priorytet hamulca nad gazem, więc trick nie zadziała. I po trzecie - wyjechanie z rolek nie jest takie proste, zobacz test Audi V8, które miało torsena na tylnej osi - używanie hamulca w niczym nie pomogło: ua-cam.com/video/R10r396Laho/v-deo.html
Za kilka dni będzie kolejny test, gdzie kierowca używał hamulca, także ręcznego - nie pomogło.
Ale ta stara A6 duźo mniejsza. Rosną te auta.

Różnica 7.38%, czyli 50 mm na średnicy, czyli jakieś 2 mm różnicy na rolce.
245/40 R21 (promień 364,70 mm).
225/55 R17 (promień 339,65 mm).
a możesz coś więcej powiedzieć? Nie potrafię sobie zwizualizować co mił by promień koła do wyjechania z rolki. Może powierzchnia styku opony z asfaltem tej nie na rolce to tak. Kurde 21 cali felga to prawie tyle co u żony w fabii całe koło :P
@@marzar9819 Chodzi o to, jak głęboko koło siedzi w rolce. Na tych rolkach samochód musi się dźwignąć do góry i wtedy ruszyć do przodu, bo koło jest w dołku. Nawet przy dużej różnicy promienia/średnicy nie ma wielkiej różnicy w tym, jak głęboko koło wpada w rolkę.
Tylko Audi haldex albo Subaru symetrical AWD 💪
S-AWD to kilka różnych typów napędu na cztery koła, z układem podobnym do haldexa włącznie.

Дизель всегда лучше бензина будет на офроуде т.к лучше тянет с низов.+ радиус колёс и ширина - пятно контакта разные.
This is biturbo petrol, a lot of of torque from low rpm. Besides there is not much torque needed here, that's not offroad test. When it comes to wheels - there is ~2 mm difference how they sit in rollers.

Both cars have their original, homologated wheel sizes.
The rolling circumference is different, so that's nonsense on the test rollers. The test conditions are not the same, the same deminsions have to be installed in such tests.

@@AndreiDragonulBGS This petrol is biturbo, it also has a lot torque starting at low rpm. It doesn't matter much cause cars do not use their max in these tests.

С5 ведро какое то. У меня с5 и там блокировки работаю идеально. Делал такие же тесты. Возьмите нормальную машину на тест

@@Taganskii Seriously, I don't understand how torsen works? Listen carefully - in this test torsen is responsible only for front/rear torque distribution. When front/rear grip difference exceeds TBR ratio then EDL must kick in. And it does but not effective enough. Left/right torque distribution is entirely based on EDL as front and rear diffs are open. That means that at the same time the EDL must help in front/rear torque distribution and left/right torque distribution - and that's a difficulty for the system. Newer EDL systems are better tuned for such tasks.
I never ever said that roller test is the only true method, I very often repeat the opposite thing so stop talking about the things that I never said. Any by the way - torsen (A, B) behaves like an open diff only when grip of all wheels is the same. But it never ever behaves the same when grip is different.
