Basically Del dealt specific cards to Boycie so he'd have a poor hand - effectively they were both cheating each other. It also follows grandads "something up his sleeve" line as the implication is poker cheats hide cards up their sleeves.
Just sayin' - if this was on a real poker table, Del Boy wouldn't have won. If he'd announced "two pair" vocally like that, the dealer would have declared his hand void and the money would have went the other way.
Verbal Declarations - Cards speak to determine the winner of a hand. Verbal declarations as to the content of a player's hand are not binding; however at Tournament Staff discretion, any player deliberately miscalling his or her hand may be penalized. simple really.
+Klate Wilson you can say what you want although you may be told to stay quiet if there are more than 2 people in the pot and there is someone with all there chips in play

"I fought Del Boy might 'ave somefink up 'is sleeve!" Not only is this fantastic comedy, but the acting is brilliant too. Del Boy's reaction when Grandad says that is superb!
Damn...I was just a little kid watching this for the first time and it was SO satisfying seing Del got Boycie on this one. And nothing has changed...I feel the same way today after all this years :D Best show ever.
Del Boy's a Serbian national hero, You know. He's one of us now, really - if David Jason shows up on any door here at 4AM, he'd be treated better than family.
@@PianoGesang Because he portraits how hard life is for working class people. This show aired in Serbia doring the shitstorm of the '90s in east Europe. We felt the same struggle they did
@fifthof haahaha "lovely jubbly" is well known phrase used widely in Serbia.. Not sure about exact translation. Unfortunately I think that Only for Fools and Horses is only popular in the UK and Ex Yugoslavia. We should give medal to Dave and Del Boy!!
I was lucky enough to meet John Challis at Wales Comic con who I was initially anxious to meet but he was absolutely down to earth, even recited this exact scene with me 😄 genuinely lovely bloke
What I always loved about Only fools and horses was that it was a complete story not just a 30 minute set up for laughs each week. It was always hilariously funny but you got to see their sad moments and their struggles as well which made you root for them even more, which in turn made the comedy funnier. A genuine work of genius.
the writing is of the highest standard, and carried out to perfection by some of the greatest character actors to have appeared on tv. the timing is absolutely spot on and the facial expressions are the icing on the cake. peerless British comedy.
I can remember watching this when it first aired. What you don't get from this YT clip is just how tense this scene was. All the build up, everyone chipped in, Rodders and Gramps putting up their savings, Trigger putting his car in the pot. So tense, then Del Boy does what he always does and fails again, but no! Two pair of Aces! Great stuff!
Love this scene, love the show, love the characters, love the storylines. Love the whole God dam era. Now we're subjected to today's reality TV bullshit.
I have never seen this show despite being a brit surrounded by Blackadder and The Vicar of Dibley, I'm definitely gonna pick up the show because this scene was so perfectly written!!
I think we all knew Del had a trick up his sleeve but I can't imagine anybody thought to take it literally. Sheer genius in this scene which demonstrates his character perfectly 😂
I notice a lot of people from Croatia and Serbia commenting on how much they like the show, I remember that Norman Wisdom was a big hit in Albania the little man getting one over the boss.
Absolutely loved norman wisdom... lucky to meet him and see his show at the york barbican centre with my dad when I was like 13... one of the best nights of my life!
I feel sorry for this and future generations because they will never know the joy of watching this great British legend of a series. First time round, no down our road went out or did nothing when this was on
