According to me, I guess there is a reference or inspiration from the film "Le ballon rouge" (1956). It was in his recent Instagram feed. The film depicts a dark and grey city which gives a depressing mode setting with a bright red ballon symbolizing hope and happiness. The red ballon is indeed a simple and beautiful symbol used as we can see in the MV that it leads him to that person in whom he found his hope and happiness and the desperate need to protect her.
Hai Cheng heals me to my bones. I just find it so precious that this song gives me peace every afternoon as i lay in our doorstep and enjoy the sun. I could never get over it. I've never experienced breaking up with a partner, but I've experienced losing a loved one more than once or twice. How i wish The8 and other members could make more songs like this.

I love the red balloon scene where he was holding it & gave it to the lady. Le Ballon Rouge was a symbol of hope & happiness in a grey city. In this mv, it’s like he’s saying that “i’m sharing my happiness with you”. And I think that is very beautiful.

The8 is a Chinese member of the kpop group SEVENTEEN. The group consists of 13 members, 3 units, and they are 1 team (added all together equals 17). The unit The8 (or Minghao) is in is performance unit which focuses on dance. despite the units of seventeen, all members are excellent in singing and dancing (they can all be main dancers if in other groups); perf unit is just more specialized (it is apparent if you check it their other mvs w just the perf team). Each member has their own vocal color and character. Minghao is one of the more artistic and introspective members. Over the years, he has released at least one solo project that shows a different side of him, a different development. He is a romantic, one who enjoys the serenity of nature, and has a love for his family and his home. Hai cheng is the name of his hometown in China and the song is deeply colored by him (he also co-wrote it). I recommend his other solos if you enjoyed this. Night and rain is a mixtape (watch from seventeenlyrics bc it’s an unofficial song), dreams come true, falling down, roots, and side by side. He also has contemporary art videos (he hasn’t had official training in contemp dance so he calls it art instead of dance). He has a few duets with his fellow China member of seventeen, Jun: My I (in Korean and chinese- both w different meaning), mother’s missed call and a couple other songs.

According to me, I guess there is a reference or inspiration from the film "Le ballon rouge" (1956). It was in his recent Instagram feed. The film depicts a dark and grey city which gives a depressing mode setting with a bright red ballon symbolizing hope and happiness. The red ballon is indeed a simple and beautiful symbol used as we can see in the MV that it leads him to that person in whom he found his hope and happiness and the desperate need to protect her.

Hai Cheng heals me to my bones. I just find it so precious that this song gives me peace every afternoon as i lay in our doorstep and enjoy the sun. I could never get over it. I've never experienced breaking up with a partner, but I've experienced losing a loved one more than once or twice. How i wish The8 and other members could make more songs like this.
