The flight attendant announced the start of drink service, but first if my future wife would marry me would she hit the call button, which she did and the flight attendant brought over the bottle of champagne and two cups. Before she gave it to us they made us go to the front of the plane and I had to get on one knee and make it official (I had the ring with me). The passengers were applauding and congratulating us, and I think some that saw me hand the note over were relieved!

Me too! Two reasons: 1. The video abruptly ended when she said it (comedy timing thing). 2. She's a sweet sweet girl. Even after the jig was up and the deal was sealed, she was still trying to follow his directions, which made her even more adorable. 😀

The biological reality is that women give up and sacrifice a lot more in relationships, especially child baring. it makes sense for men to traditionally be the one to make these gestures. Not that men don't also need/deserve romance, but biological asymmetry is real and these gestures help reassure and offset that.
