See, now this is how Umbrella Corps should've been. Here you are, armed to the teeth, decked out in military gear as well as a gas mask, and yet it still feels intense. You're tempted to just go around blasting zombies, but you only have so much ammo, meaning that you have to save it for when you need it the most. Emphasising on staying alive rather than mowing down everything that moves, now that is the mark of a true survival horror game.

@@Commodore22345 you are right, your words are true but something you are missing about this game, certain characters won't die, they are gifted, they are lucky or they are a master survivors (plot armor) I would give you an example Chris is a soldier and if you know him (Re5 and Re6) he cares for his men but in some missions he is the only survivor... Hunk cares for his men but he is more detached For example when he was assigned on a mission to deliver a container, the company refused to detail exactly what was inside and he says that such missions were a possible danger to the safety of his team

6:12 that must be terrifying. Imagine being in that situation. You’re minding your own business. You turn the corner and then you’re suddenly face to face with Hunk. Scary stuff.
I know everyone in the RE community treats Hunk like he's Chuck Norris circa 2007, but I really do love that he's stoic and purely objective-focused yet you can still tell none of this is easy for him when he gets grabbed or chewed on or smacked around. The guy is the elite of the elite, and he's doin it by bangin on all cylinders at high RPMs. He gets a little mad and a little scared when some mutant abomination latches onto him and slows him down, makes him bleed. When a licker leaps on him he screams in pain and terror, and when he kicks it off there's a grunt of relief, and he keeps going cuz he's redlining hard as hell and showing off what the human body and mind is capable of under extreme conditions. He's not even killing the zombies (if you wanna actually complete this mission in a reasonable time frame for the average player), but running past most of them and only temporarily disabling some of them. Hunk is peak human performance, and peak human performance isn't easy. It's top of the line, specialized, and exhausting. Hunk is *trying* and everyone is painting him as some guy who does it without breaking a sweat. Hunk is mighty, and strong, and powerful, and skilled, and he's also trying his best and giving his all. He is not some superhuman that no one else can compare to. He is a mortal man, and he struggles, and he perseveres, and he fears for his life - but ultimately he wants to win and complete his objective. His drive and skill are why he's an awe-inspiring character, not because he's some mythological demi-god who was never in any real danger. Hunk's life is on the line constantly, and he never stops. Hunk is cool.
H.U.N.K. is so admired by the audience because he is a character who went through the most difficult missions of umbrella Corp. and survived all of them.where most of the time his companions died.
Nah don't. It will ruin his mystique part of him. He's a badass. He survived raccoon city outbreak. He manage to retrieve the samples. He is HUNK. And that's all you need to know. Though i want him to appear more as a cameo in future RE.
I’m pretty sure hunk came out of the womb during a zombie apocalypse full grown wearing his gear with 700 different weapons and enough ammo to kill everything in raccoon city because he’s that badass.

I love the final lines said at the end of this. "Why’d you come back?" "I wanted to meet the Grim Reaper." It’s so cool and this was a painful but overall enjoyable challenged that tests your skill of survival.

Leon: easily has the best weapons in the game, a normal pistol with the normal sized magazine that loads in less than a second which can easily be upgraded to fit more rounds and become much more stable and if you want, faster fire rate. he also gets a really powerful handgun in his b run a shotgun that blasts through zombie's heads and can be upgraded to 1 shot all of their heads, can also upgrade its handle for more accuracy/shoot faster. plus its ammo is fairly easy to make and find. finally, he has a flamethrower with lots of ammo and a magnum that will 1shot everything, again, can be upgraded to deal more damage and more accuracy. Sherry: was protected by her parents, even when Birkin transformed and then she was found by Claire who protected her. and then healed by her mother later on. she definitely had to work harder than the grown-ups to survive when she was on her own but after that, she was protected. Claire: she has more weapons but some weaker than Leon's and are unique in a way that can be annoying. first, the starting revolver holds 6 rounds and until you can upgrade it will take years to load slightly more powerful than Leon's handgun (Matilda) but even then 6 rounds are not enough to get you out of a pinch. can be upgraded to magnum but way later and the magnum rounds in her playthrough are hard to find and cannot be crafted. her b run gun is more powerful and has faster-shooting speed but shit loading speed, you can get a normal upgradable laser sight handgun when you reach the garage, personally my favorite handgun in the game. her smg: useful to use against bosses and to take a couple of zombies down in a pinch but weak as hell and you will run through the ammo quicker than you'd think. can be used to shoot the orange bulbs on the plant monsters when you shoot one by one. rounds can be crafted, can be upgraded to hold more ammo and become more accurate and silent. her grenade launcher: flame rounds are super powerful, very useful to one shot kill plant monsters and two shot a licker.downside is that ammo is rare and you can't craft it. acid rounds are useful overall for lickers and bosses, especially final boss and can be crafted. grenade launcher itself is accurate on its own when used properly but can be upgraded for more accuracy, the only bad thing about it is that you have to load after each shot spark shot: found later, rare ammo but mean damage and stun capability. personally only used it a couple of times when I ran out of ammo in the sewer area and in the final boss. found it very useful when I used it on the final boss, you have to poke his eyes out first tho. Ada: one pistol and hacking device, not anything else. literally, except her wits perhaps. hunk: starts with the best items but have to fight through way more than he can shoot. tl;dr: Leon has the strongest guns in the game, Claire has the less powerful ones, sherry almost protected by everyone even the chief in a way, Ada has only one pistol and one hacking device, hunk barely has room to move.

in the past iterations HUNK was a kinda a dick, but here they add/change the context to what he says and does. for instance, he ripped on his guy who shot up birkin, but then essentially covered for the same guy by exaggerating the story to their boss on the radio. He's basically Mission>team/self.

When the Dev. Team puts a "Scoped MP5 with Extended Mag" into a SURVIVAL HORROR Game just to do Justice to a side-character. that is how you know that *HUNK* is quite high in their priority list.
Even still, ammo runs dry real fast using that thing, and uses the same ammo type as the pistol, which is easier to aim and use reliably. Huh... pistol being better than SMG. Words I thought I'd never say.
What I love the most about this mode is the actual enemy placement. You really get the sense that Raccoon City's situation has deteriorated so much and totally that now you have shit like Adult G's and Ivies roaming topside in the streets, not just Zombies. Really cements how nuking it was the only option. And you're in the very heart of that chaos in it's final moments.

MrFIRESEAL117 I think I'm gonna be struggling with hardcore more than I struggled with this mode, only took me around 2 hours of learning where to go to dodge the enemies and when to use my items
George Rodger Isn't it like 2 hours 30 I have to beat it in to get the smg? I barely beat it on normal in less time than that and I feel like the bosses take double the bullets
Hunk it takes a couple of tries, just be sure to save every milestone you hit and use the samurai edge if you have it, I highly recommend it if your going for the smg, I got the le 5 in 2 hours 20 minutes with the edge and 13 saves, it is difficult but not impossible, I would say it’s above average rather than hard
Like srsly, everyone in comment section saying he is as badass as doom guy, but in this gameplay he just tries to run around zombies and shoots only to stun them, even though he has more health than Leon and Claire. Like srsly, he is not as badass here as in other games, he is just lucky.
Mr. Cobra Badass doesn’t mean blasting through every monster you see. Badass is facing those monsters with super limited equipment and still focusing on the goal without showing any fear despite how stacked against you the odds are.

By your logic Forgotten Soldiers are also badasses. Badass mostly doesn't let anyone stay in their way, it doesn't matter how they do it, beating enemies up or making them regret even by disturbing you. Hunk would be badass if he know how exactly deal with all zombies not only by running through them. I don't judge his character here, I judge only this exact gameplay here. You don't feel badass while playing as him here. You are just another survivor.
This low-key has some Halo vibes to it-- A badass soldier described as death itself fighting through hordes of monsters making one last push (one final effort) to get the hell out of there before the place is blasted to nothing.
When I got to the main entrance, i thought that was it. I burned through all my supplies, healing items, ammo, and was on danger, and the tyrant was still on the move. It turns out I still had ways to go.
Wow, despite Capcom not giving Hunk his own campaign, your gameplay of him sure made him an absolute badass. Walkthrough the zombies like they ain't a threat to him or worth his time at all.

Filling your stomach would be comparable to for example playing the game on some cheated, easy difficulty and just steamrolling through levels and skipping cutscenes. Like yeah you beat it but didn't experience a fraction of what you were supposed to.

@@naruto67845 The Fourth Survivor was honestly harder in the original. Getting through a massive horde with almost no supplies is the point of the game mode.
I like that despite his fearsome reputation, he still cries out in pain or surprise, or grunts with exertion. It’s easy to make a feared character be utterly stoic and unflinching, even silent, but adding those more human reactions just adds to the badassery in my opinion. He’s still human, and still has his limits, just like the rest of us. What he does with those limits, and the lengths he’ll go to accomplish his mission and survive are what built the legend he’s become.

@@PersonalAccountIndeed Running through locations I actually had a feeling that Hunk escape is before Claire/Leon arrival. The way he runs from the severs to the police station through underground (where the 1st encounter with Birkin was) is untouched, yet in original the piece of platform is broken and there is no way to return to the police station by that route. Yet again, if he escaped before their arrival the police station will be a real hell with crowds of zombies in each room. So this is just an alternative version really, this happens neither before nor after their arrival.
Watching this, I want a full Hunk/USS story campaign for RE2 Remake. All we ever got was Operation Raccoon City and the terrible Umbrella Corps. A full story/single player focused RE game based around playing as an Umbrella soldier/merc would be great. That and please remake Dino Crisis 1 & 2 in this game engine. HD dinosaurs...
Imagine if we got an actually good resident evil movie and after the second movie this was the post credit scene. Hunk escaping, theme and all. I'm not even a huge fan of resident evil but that would be pretty dope.

Leon: easily has the best weapons in the game, a normal pistol with the normal sized magazine that loads in less than a second which can easily be upgraded to fit more rounds and become much more stable and if you want, faster fire rate. he also gets a really powerful handgun in his b run
a shotgun that blasts through zombie's heads and can be upgraded to 1 shot all of their heads, can also upgrade its handle for more accuracy/shoot faster. plus its ammo is fairly easy to make and find. finally, he has a flamethrower with lots of ammo and a magnum that will 1shot everything, again, can be upgraded to deal more damage and more accuracy.
Sherry: was protected by her parents, even when Birkin transformed and then she was found by Claire who protected her. and then healed by her mother later on. she definitely had to work harder than the grown-ups to survive when she was on her own but after that, she was protected.
Claire: she has more weapons but some weaker than Leon's and are unique in a way that can be annoying.
first, the starting revolver holds 6 rounds and until you can upgrade it will take years to load slightly more powerful than Leon's handgun (Matilda) but even then 6 rounds are not enough to get you out of a pinch. can be upgraded to magnum but way later and the magnum rounds in her playthrough are hard to find and cannot be crafted. her b run gun is more powerful and has faster-shooting speed but shit loading speed, you can get a normal upgradable laser sight handgun when you reach the garage, personally my favorite handgun in the game.
her smg: useful to use against bosses and to take a couple of zombies down in a pinch but weak as hell and you will run through the ammo quicker than you'd think. can be used to shoot the orange bulbs on the plant monsters when you shoot one by one. rounds can be crafted, can be upgraded to hold more ammo and become more accurate and silent.
her grenade launcher: flame rounds are super powerful, very useful to one shot kill plant monsters and two shot a licker.downside is that ammo is rare and you can't craft it.
acid rounds are useful overall for lickers and bosses, especially final boss and can be crafted. grenade launcher itself is accurate on its own when used properly but can be upgraded for more accuracy, the only bad thing about it is that you have to load after each shot
spark shot: found later, rare ammo but mean damage and stun capability. personally only used it a couple of times when I ran out of ammo in the sewer area and in the final boss. found it very useful when I used it on the final boss, you have to poke his eyes out first tho.
Ada: one pistol and hacking device, not anything else. literally, except her wits perhaps.
hunk: starts with the best items but have to fight through way more than he can shoot.
tl;dr: Leon has the strongest guns in the game, Claire has the less powerful ones, sherry almost protected by everyone even the chief in a way, Ada has only one pistol and one hacking device, hunk barely has room to move.

in the past iterations HUNK was a kinda a dick, but here they add/change the context to what he says and does. for instance, he ripped on his guy who shot up birkin, but then essentially covered for the same guy by exaggerating the story to their boss on the radio. He's basically Mission>team/self.

Even still, ammo runs dry real fast using that thing, and uses the same ammo type as the pistol, which is easier to aim and use reliably.

What I love the most about this mode is the actual enemy placement.
You really get the sense that Raccoon City's situation has deteriorated so much and totally that now you have shit like Adult G's and Ivies roaming topside in the streets, not just Zombies.
Really cements how nuking it was the only option. And you're in the very heart of that chaos in it's final moments.

I think I'm gonna be struggling with hardcore more than I struggled with this mode, only took me around 2 hours of learning where to go to dodge the enemies and when to use my items
Hunk hardcore isn’t that hard, the biggest enemy in hardcore is mr.x and badly placed lickers but that’s about it

Isn't it like 2 hours 30 I have to beat it in to get the smg? I barely beat it on normal in less time than that and I feel like the bosses take double the bullets
Hunk it takes a couple of tries, just be sure to save every milestone you hit and use the samurai edge if you have it, I highly recommend it if your going for the smg, I got the le 5 in 2 hours 20 minutes with the edge and 13 saves, it is difficult but not impossible, I would say it’s above average rather than hard

Filling your stomach would be comparable to for example playing the game on some cheated, easy difficulty and just steamrolling through levels and skipping cutscenes. Like yeah you beat it but didn't experience a fraction of what you were supposed to.

The Fourth Survivor was honestly harder in the original. Getting through a massive horde with almost no supplies is the point of the game mode.
You get this mode when you beat both Leon and Claire's story. It's the game's way of just throwing everything at you!

I like that despite his fearsome reputation, he still cries out in pain or surprise, or grunts with exertion.
It’s easy to make a feared character be utterly stoic and unflinching, even silent, but adding those more human reactions just adds to the badassery in my opinion. He’s still human, and still has his limits, just like the rest of us. What he does with those limits, and the lengths he’ll go to accomplish his mission and survive are what built the legend he’s become.
I strongly agree, if he didn't have those normal human reactions, it would come off as cringe and/or edgy

@@kirbyis4ever So really Leon/Claire helped him escape. Opened doors with keys, pulled levers to bring down the platform... moved the cabinet out of the way to allow the elevator access etc. He owes them his life!

@@PersonalAccountIndeed Running through locations I actually had a feeling that Hunk escape is before Claire/Leon arrival. The way he runs from the severs to the police station through underground (where the 1st encounter with Birkin was) is untouched, yet in original the piece of platform is broken and there is no way to return to the police station by that route. Yet again, if he escaped before their arrival the police station will be a real hell with crowds of zombies in each room. So this is just an alternative version really, this happens neither before nor after their arrival.

Watching this, I want a full Hunk/USS story campaign for RE2 Remake. All we ever got was Operation Raccoon City and the terrible Umbrella Corps.
A full story/single player focused RE game based around playing as an Umbrella soldier/merc would be great.
That and please remake Dino Crisis 1 & 2 in this game engine. HD dinosaurs...

Imagine if we got an actually good resident evil movie and after the second movie this was the post credit scene. Hunk escaping, theme and all. I'm not even a huge fan of resident evil but that would be pretty dope.
