This is terrific, thanks for making this video. My Grandfather had a beautiful orchard, which I always loved, but he died before I could learn anything about caring for trees which really sucks because I love them. I'll learn though, thanks to people like you!

The layering makes so much sense! Little start up plant is getting all the juice it needs from the parent plant! Great video - thanks for sharing this info!!

Thank you Mike. My hydrangeas on Cape Cod propagate themselves this way as well. No wounding, clips or rocks necessary. It just happens. Thanks for showing me how to help it along a bit.

Hi Mike, I planted a potted Forsythia last week ,and ,one branch broke off. I brought it into the house and stuck it in a glass of water. It has flowered and now it is sprouting some leaves. I don’t see roots developing yet. Should I keep it in water until they develop roots on their own or should I do something else to get the roots to start developing? Love your channel! Jan

I want to try the layering method starting here in mid june. How long do I wait before digging up the new root and replanting? Do I have to pot it and let it grow or can I just stick it in the ground before the fall? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you so much for this helpful video. I want to move an established forsythia that is leggy. I plan to move it to a slope and I want to have it do some horizontal spreading.

How long does it take for the roots to grow when left on the plant. I’ve done this with a broom.
