  • Inspired by Birgit Koopsen, I've been experimenting with using PanPastels on my gelatin plate (Gelli Plate) to create super cool monoprints -- both with Balzer Designs stencils from The Crafter's Workshop and without. In this video, I give you lots and lots of tips to ensure that your efforts are successful.

    I have to say that years ago I had a ton of pan pastels and wound up getting rid of them because they never stayed put! Always rubbing off and no one knew how to deal with them. They have come back the a vengeance and I love it. Also, they can replace paint because they never go bad like paint does after a while! I really appreciate the video. 🌻👍

    Wow, Julie! This is definitely the most informative video on using pan pastels, I had gotten some and did not really know what to do with them. Also one of the best videos on using the gelli plate with stencils. I have done that before but did not know about the layering and all that so Thank u so much for sharing. Wonderful video and absolutely love your round stencil design. You always design such great stencils and I’ve been buying them for years. They are always my favorites.

    This is fabulous! What tool did you use to press the paper down on the gel plate?

      It's a baren. If you read the supply list in the description of the video, you'll see it listed with a link to purchase.

    This video answered a lot of questions for me! I was about to give up on my gel plate with PanPastels. Fluid acrylics. Use colors instead of white for more vibrancy. What brand paper/weight/gsm did you use? TY!

      It's not special paper. It's cardstock from the office supply store.

    Thank you for your creative ideas. Is it possible to incorporate pages with Pan Pastel in the art
    Journal because in my experience they are color-reducing? Do you apply some material to keep the paint from getting dirty?

      There are lots of videos on sealing PanPastel. It's easy to do with a gelatin plate.

      I don't know. Especially if you wanted to wash the fabric.

    Hi. This is a great tutorial. I never imagined trying Pan Pastel on Gelli plate. I have a question. What did you have around your stencil and why? It looked like duck tape or something. What is the purpose of having it around the stencil? Thank you!

    • @BalzerDesigns
      @BalzerDesigns  4 роки тому

      Duct tape. It gives me more space to work with.

    Dear Julie,
    I guess I have been living in a hole, but I recently found videos about Impossible Cards and was wondering if you might do a video on them for the ScanncutDX, especially using clear acetate as the base card. I am not sure how the scanner and blade would react with the acetate or if there is a work around.
    Thank you so much for your sensible and clear videos which has helped me overcome my apprehension of using the ScannCut dx.
    David

      Acetate and the ScanNCut are fine. It's the same as cutting stencil plastic.

      @DavidNBerg 4 роки тому

      Dear Julie,
      Thank you for your reply. Since this video was using the ScanNCut2 you can adjust the settings. However, since I want to use my ScannCut DX with the autosensing blade and clear acetate, would the machine be able to see through the acetate and adjust the settings for the cuts?
      Thanks again for your help.
      David

      I think you're misunderstanding how the AutoBlade works. It doesn't "see" anything. The blade checks the the depth of material by feel, not by sight. Clear or opaque makes zero difference in the process.

    • @DavidNBerg
      @DavidNBerg 4 роки тому

      I guess I was confusing the auto blade and the scanner. Thank you for clarifying that for me. I am so loathe to do something to damage the scanner or blade that I am rather timid. Thank you, too, for your patience with me.
      Sincerely,
      David
