To my sweet Texas cross stitchers , I ALWAYS enjoy your UA-cams. But Molly, I thought that you hung the moon, BUT really, 3 cats!!! Ok, for the moment, I’ve moved you to sitting on a cloud. FYI, it won’t be long before you’re back to moon-level!! You and Kathy make me smile and chuckle. Keep stitching on
lolololol...I know, right? How in the world did we end up with 3 cats??!?! But we are their servants for now...and loving most every minute of it. I teased our grown son...we only got cats after he moved out to college and then on to life...so it's his fault. All strays that "hired us" as their full time care givers. Jeesh, really.... Thanks for watching and I'll try my best to get back to "hung the moon" status soon...teeheehee...hugs, Molly D
Molly and Kathy, I always enjoy spending time with you both. Wish I lived closer so we could be neighbors. Molly, your saying just crack me up. I have to stop and rewind the video because they are so funny. I need to start writing them down. The stitching is stunning. I to sometime struggle with colors and how the look on the fabric even if it's the called for. LOL, Kathy, I had to also stop to search some charts. I love patriotic pieces. Unfortunately, I only found 2 pieces of my patriotic finishes. Love spending time with you both 😍
Good evening & Hi ya all👋… being good this video😉… so many treasures… love learning from both of you…thank you for all you bring to this community…history, colorways, crafting with what you have to technology. Loving it… safe travels Kathy… when visiting with MD ask about the need or not to wear compression stockings while traveling…also think of using each foot to trace the alphabet: a thru d…small font one hour then lge font next hour. Cooler of ice paks @ your disposale😉. Have fun Kathy. Molly i am excited to see more of your print experiments onto fabric.

Loved seeing all your patriotic charts, Kathy! Glad you are doing better with your knee. I didn’t feel like I was back to normal until about 3 months from the replacement. Hang in there, it really does get easier to walk!
Such a hoot! That poor little eagle's been in a dust storm. 😂 The eagle sampler is called American Sampler by Jane Chandler Leisure Arts June 1994. It's so fun watching your videos. So much knowledge, info, and beautiful items to see. Thank

I love everything you ladies do. Molly your project bag is great. I just bought a brand new sewing machine and that's my plan for the weekend- to make my first bag. Wish me luck! I sure wish you two were my neighbors.
As always I really enjoyed this video. You ladies are an inspiration to all of us. I finished Land That I Love by Teresa Kogut last year and I really loved it.
Just love y’all I could listen to you both all day. What a fun video. I always learn so much from the both of you. Thank you for taking the time to share with your viewers.
Thanks for sharing. I use the DMC needles and the Artiste from Hobby Lobby. I have had good luck with them. They do tarnish after using with two projects.
Had so much fun seeing your patriotic. I highly recommend byAnnie Soft and Stable. It's an excellent product and I use it for all my bags. And you will support a small business. Have either of you used vinyl record covers for anything? Have a great time at The Attic Kathy. Happy stitching
Putting my pen down and not taking pics of all the "stuff" I'm trying hard to Not make note of Everything you show to stitch you two are Dangerous!🤣Love to watch your fun videos.Take care 💚
Thank you for sharing. Can’t wait to hear about the needle that will be the winner. I use Pat Carson…and am running low so I will be needing something soon. Happy stitching
Good Morning, I am just catching up with your videos, I love listening to you chit chat! Molly I use Pellon 987F fusible fleece to make my project bags, I bought it at JoAnns.
Your video turned out so good today the lighting was perfect and looks like you reached 7000 congratulations! And thanks to Kathy now I’m looking at all of my Crosstitch fabric, taking it out of the plastic and rolling it up like she does! 😊
Hi Molly and Kathy, I enjoy your floss tube very much. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and talent with us. I just wanted to let you know that Jane and Julie’s Floss tube is named, “Running with Scissors,” I to enjoy watching them. Great job on the videos the picture quality is much better. I always look forward to see what you will share with us. 😊
Thank you, Karen. I am a huge fan of theirs, just have a horrible memory...but thankfully UA-cam alerts me when the have a new one...lol. Thanks for watching and the great comment.
The projects you two are working on are just beautiful! Thank you for sharing so much info and charts, etc. I hope your AZ trip goes well. It would be fun to go sometime. And, ty for the shout out for Purple M. I'll go watch it today. Have a blessed week. ❤
Lovey as always. Warming up here in the UK though no where near your temperatures ladies. I always enjoy joining you with my coffee and crafting session. Thank you :)
It's 100 + this week...in Fahrenheit...that is super hot...supposed to hit 103 this week...but we did have a beautifully cool Spring. Thanks so much for watching and the sweet comment!
Thank you for the fun video, girls! I think I need to try Permin needles, Kathy. Thanks for inspiring me to try something different. Ada looks beautiful, btw! (I really want to watch the part of the video you didn't know you were recording. 😉 Lol)
Great video! I have almost all the patterns shown. And I have done about 3/4 of them. I decorate my entire house in patriotic pieces. I know you have alot more patriotic because I have done alot Prairie Schooler Brenda Gervais and Threadwork. I just ordered pony needles. My favorite one is Pat Carson needles. But sadly no longer being made.
Soft and Stable is the project bag stabilizer I believe. Nichol Spohr also just did a cute tutorial using charm packs for the bag fronts, if you're interested! She used Soft & Stable. Thanks for another fun video Molly and Kathy, it's always fun and educational, and dangerous to my wallet! 😁 Let's get patriotic! 🇺🇸
Lots of nice patriotic charts today and I found a couple that I will need to add to stash. Thank you for sharing. I was unsuccessful in trying to find a good picture of "Cherries Jubilee" to get an idea of colors used but I think you could easily add blue in the thin borders or the wording. I'm not a blue person so I'm usually trying to change blue to red and minimize that blue. Have a nice trip to the Attic, Kathy. Molly, I agree with you about GPS; just give me a street address to plug in and i'm good to go. Even better than sliced bread. Hope to see you soon.
I use Soft and Stable by Annie in all the bags I make for myself. You don’t even have to quilt it if you don’t want to. Just smooth your fabric over it nicely. Fat Quarter Shop sells it in a couple of sizes. It’s very inexpensive and gives the bags very nice support. I use it for vinyl front bags. I would recommend only using it on one side of the bag unless you want an extremely firm bag. I always enjoy your videos and seeing your beautiful creations! ❤❤
Another great inspiring video. I have been wanting to try making a project bag so am pleased to hear about the interfacing. Wish I got as much accomplished as you two gals!
You two are so creative! It is such fun to watch you both. I love the way your creative brain works Molly and it’s fun to watch you as you get excited about what you are learning and doing. I’ve learned a lot from you Kathy. Your work is amazing. I did What Remains Is Love from Blackbird for a memory of my mother. I put her birth and passing dates on it and “In Memory Of” with her name at the bottom. It’s going on a box that will be full of her keepsakes and old pictures of her parents and sisters.
Oh, be careful, Sandy...making a list is what gets me in trouble every time...it's the step right before "add to cart"...lol. thanks for watching! Hugs, Molly D
Hi! I’m a first timer to your channel!! Yay!! I have never really done a patriotic piece. However, I’m excited to start the small tins from Fat Quarter Shop. P.S. I’m interested in #2 two. Thanks!
What fun I had watching the two of you this morning!!! Love allll the patriotic charts you shared. I was busy scribbling down the names and designers! (I like I need more patterns) - but that’s what we do ◡̈ .
Hey you two! You always make my morning so much fun, and finally you've given me the itch to start stitching patriotic patterns. Well Kathy, I accept defeat. Hopefully you'll never have to pinch pennies and will always be able to enjoy having the original paper pattern to hold. Though I love paper patterns, I actually prefer to work from digital so I can enlarge the chart and not worry about damaging that precious pattern.
Thanks so much for your videos! It makes my day when I see that you have a new one uploaded. You do cost me alot of money, though. I had to find the sunflower sampler that Molly showed last time and have a good start on it. Keep it up, girls!
I use fusible fleece for my bags. Bosal and Pellon have foam. So happy to see you ladies. Such nice work. Please show how you use the tape for Cabochons. I use Gorilla glue with the brush. Where do you get your pictures for your Cabochons?
Kathy I’ve had fabrics stored in plastic bags since 1997 when I closed my store. As long as they’re not exposed to light, the fabric remains intact. Granted if it lives in plastic for 100 years it may change some, but we won’t be around to care LOL. As for folds, even on hand dyed, using the steam function in your iron should remove the fold lines. If not, a quick spray of water and immediate ironing with a hot iron will remove the fold line and not give dyes enough time to run 😊
I guess experiences can be different. I bought two pieces at two different places.. one a blueish color and the other a red. Aztec red.. both have fold fading. I only suggested as something to watch for when purchasing linen. Here in ElPaso we have extreme sun ☀️ 363 days a year. Bright in every room even with minimal direct sun as we have blinds on all windows.. my sofa was ruined. Dark mulberry and blue tapestry… so just a suggestion.
@@linenandscraps4821 I think you need to be more careful when buying as the stores need them to be on display for you to see. Mine are stored in plastic bags inside of totes and kept in a closet with mirrored sliders to keep them in the dark, although I hate mirrored sliders as they always need to be cleaned LOL
Joann Fabrics does have foam interfacing. It would be cheaper than ByAnnie I would imagine. They accidentally sent me a ton by mistake and told me just to keep it. I make and sell project bags and have used it for certain bags I've made and it works perfectly fine. I use 505 basting spray to adhere it to the fabric before quilting.
Hi ladies, another great visit. So many patriotic patterns to choose from, of course I want the one I can't find! Our Flag by Hands to Work. Not like there aren't enough in my stash to keep me busy. Molly your printed fabric is wonderful! Happy Stitching 🪡🧵
Soft and Stable is the ByAnnie product and is pretty pricey. I use a Pellon fusible fleece from Joann’s but I do buy the clear vinyl from ByAnnie because her product I think is the best and worth the price. Batting will not make your project bag stiff enough and the fleece gives it a little extra body and fuses very nicely.
Thanks for the info, Jeanne, I ran to Joanns and bought the Pellon brand people were recommending...now to actually sew the things...lolol. Great to hear from you! Hugs, Molly D
Molly I looked up what I use for my project bags, it’s Pellon 971F, Fusible Thermolam Plus from JoAnns, I buy it by the bolt with my coupon. It’s a thin fusible fleece, fusible on one side only, but I really like how it makes my project bags sturdy. I use it on both the front and back if I’m not using a clear vinyl front. I use a regular fusible interfacing on the zipper strips of fabric. I love the vinyl from ByAnnie’s, very sturdy.
Hello, Jeanne! Thank you so much for the info. I plan on heading out today to get one kind or another. Looking forward to trying my hand at a bag with vinyl. Thanks for watching! hugs, Molly D
Congratulations 🥂🍾 on your project bag it’s beautiful I think it came out great I am will to buy it from you 🤗Thank you both for sharing your goodie’s and information 👍 please keep them coming 🤗 Can you both tell me what patterns are 14 counts I can buy ? Because I see a pattern on video every thing is on a higher counts 32/40/45 Etc. Please take care of yourselves 🙏✌️
JoAnn fabrics carries a foam for bags. It is not the Annie brand but I like it. They carry fusible on both sides and a sew in. I have used it and love it for my bags.
Love the patriotic parade!! Kathy, where did you get the huswife from Needlemade designs?? The Tallman House by Chessie and Me is a historic house in Janesville Wisconsin that was part of the underground railroad. I am stitching it .
Hi guys! Kathy, I am a monogamous stitcher so I just wanted you to know it is never boring that you just have the one WIP. I love looking at all the WIPs folks have out there, but when they have many going at the same time and say “oh, I wish I could get this finished by a certain time” I want to laugh and say, “just work on it exclusively for a time and you can”. And as for needles, I didn’t even know that there were so many different kinds. I have used DMC needles for 40 years. Maybe it’s time to try something new. Love you both❤.
I also use DMC needles for my cross stitching and have never had a problem. I use Bohin needles for my needlepoint but am branching out into Tulip needles. They are smooth but I still really like my Bohin. I will try something different for my cross stitching now.
Use by Annie soft n stable for the vinyl bags, and you might find quilt batting better for the fabric bags, although that means you have to “quilt” the top fabric to the batting. The soft and stable has more structure but means bulkier seams when doing the all fabric bags.
Thank you for answering my question and showing the back of how you stitch your letters. Good to know I won't need to stop and start at each letter.😀 I have another question I hope you can show/demonstrate in a video. How in the world do you change motif sizes to fit a piece? I like several samplers, but they have a heart/s, cross/es,...in them that I don't like. How do you swap out a motif for a different motif or letter and get it the right size if it is too big or too small? Hope that makes sense.
I’ve done it often but with no rhyme or reason. I chart out on gridded paper starting with the count of squares I want to replace.. then fill in with a design I want to use (other charts, google an item) and make modifications as needed. Hope this helps!!!
Such a wonderful video filled with all kinds of inspiration! I am curious as to the name of the machine embroidery design for the project bag for 4th of July that Kathy made. I have looked on google and can’t find an “ITH” design like that. I have an embroidery machine and would love to make some project bags like that. Thank you so much for your tips on how to store our cross stitch fabrics. Never thought about rolling the fabric so that it doesn’t get such hard creases in them. All great ideas! Thank you again!
@@linenandscraps4821 Thank you so much for replying so quickly! I am on it! Never heard of either of these website for machine embroidery designs! You are a wealth of knowledge, Kathy!
Thank you for addressing my silks question. I have used some when they’ve come with a kit(Shepherd’s Bush), but I know there are many brands out there. Kathy, do you roll your fabrics onto something, or just roll them up on themselves? Can you share a photo of how/where you store them? I let my LNS use two patriotic lap quilts in a window display and they faded so badly. 😭
That light is killer on fibers! I roll on themselves and tie with cotton string. My bigger pieces I roll on a dowel, tie and all are standing tall in an antique box covered with a vintage tablecloth..
I have a favorite needle as well... I don't know what it is... it has an eye big enough to put my metal threader through, the size is 28, Bohin is great although when I buy a pack, it seems that 2 out of 6 work with the threader, I don't understand that!!! I have been buying different kinds of needles trying to find the one!!!
Love to watch you guys. Wanted to know Kathy what ITH embroidery pattern are you using to make the project bags? I've sewn regular ones but didn't know of one in the hoop. TIA
Kathy and Molly…thank you both for another awesome podcast…enjoyed all you shared…best wishes and happy stitching ❤❤
You are so welcome!
To my sweet Texas cross stitchers , I ALWAYS enjoy your UA-cams. But Molly, I thought that you hung the moon, BUT really, 3 cats!!! Ok, for the moment, I’ve moved you to sitting on a cloud.
Love your videos!! Great patriotic parade!!! Happy stitching!!
Hi ladies, another great visit. So many patriotic patterns to choose from, of course I want the one I can't find! Our Flag by Hands to Work. Not like there aren't enough in my stash to keep me busy. Molly your printed fabric is wonderful! Happy Stitching 🪡🧵
Thank you so much!
Hi y’all! Thanks for sharing with us. I enjoy your channel so much. Have a great day!
Thank you so much!
Hello Molly and Kathy. The video quality looks great! Thanks for sharing your stitching!
True on fabric storage. Also, stuffing stitched pillows and drums with acidic wood (sawdust) is not a great idea either.
Great tip!
Yep!
Love your fun and informative videos! 👍❤️
Thanks so much!
Another fun and inspiring video! Hope you make 7,000 soon.
Us too!
Linda Vinson is the designer and lives close to the Attic in Mesa. Try there..:)
Molly! I was getting whip lash trying to see your patterns. You certainly were whipping through your whips! 🤗
I know! It’s crazy the number of brands! And I have more so stay tuned!!!
Iron on fleece
Use by Annie soft n stable for the vinyl bags, and you might find quilt batting better for the fabric bags, although that means you have to “quilt” the top fabric to the batting. The soft and stable has more structure but means bulkier seams when doing the all fabric bags.
I also only stitch one project at a time.
OMGosh!!! A friend indeed!!!
Thank you for answering my question and showing the back of how you stitch your letters. Good to know I won't need to stop and start at each letter.😀
I have another question I hope you can show/demonstrate in a video. How in the world do you change motif sizes to fit a piece? I like several samplers, but they have a heart/s, cross/es,...in them that I don't like. How do you swap out a motif for a different motif or letter
and get it the right size if it is too big or too small? Hope that makes sense.
I’ve done it often but with no rhyme or reason. I chart out on gridded paper starting with the count of squares I want to replace.. then fill in with a design I want to use (other charts, google an item) and make modifications as needed. Hope this helps!!!
Thank you🤗

Such a wonderful video filled with all kinds of inspiration! I am curious as to the name of the machine embroidery design for the project bag for 4th of July that Kathy made. I have looked on google and can’t find an “ITH” design like that. I have an embroidery machine and would love to make some project bags like that. Thank you so much for your tips on how to store our cross stitch fabrics. Never thought about rolling the fabric so that it doesn’t get such hard creases in them. All great ideas! Thank you again!
Embroidery Garden and Embroidery weekly both have vinyl bag, pouch designs. :)
@@linenandscraps4821 Thank you so much for replying so quickly! I am on it! Never heard of either of these website for machine embroidery designs! You are a wealth of knowledge, Kathy!
Thank you!!!
It’s been interesting to find so many choices! And there is even more! Stay tuned!!
Love to watch you guys. Wanted to know Kathy what ITH embroidery pattern are you using to make the project bags? I've sewn regular ones but didn't know of one in the hoop. TIA
Responded in IG..
