Well, if you survive the inhuman pressure from your parents. I don't understand how all this praise is happening without mentioning all the students suicide cases in the past and now in India. It's rather like the successful people are the survivors of an inhuman rat race. But it's so typical for westerners to praise everything that serves them without going really into detail.

it was and I still think is the same in Slovakia - although I'm conflicted on this topic as I don't see the value of some education. Like in Slovakia, everyone has a master's degree but you don't have plumbers, or essential works - tradesmen which I don't like. Same in the UK - so what happened as people perceived those jobs as "dirty" - the people that stuck at it - and had a trade make way more money than most people with degrees. There is a book I think it goes along the lines I learnt Everything I needed to Know in kindergarten - I'm still yet to read the book🙈

Both my children are Canadian born, and highly educated; extremely hard working; emigrated to Silicon Valley, Alameda County, California. What the gentleman said in that clip is Spot On!

I’m an immigrant myself, now in Germany. What I have noticed is that we Indians live below our means, save and invest the rest back home. We also (at least Most of us) as parents ensure that our culture and traditions are kept up although we are in different countries. We are also strict disciplinarians who do not tolerate any nonsense from our children.
Probably the only thing we do differently is to stick to the basics which help in the long run. No YOLO crap is tolerated.

Why we Indians do better in USA,
    (1) America has freedom & liberty. America has built in infrastructure. All we have to do is do our best.
    (2) We get more money for our work than we would in India. That is major incentive to work hard & honestly.
    (3) We gave total importance to education. In fact. suicide rate is highest suicide rate among students. Kamla Harris was asked about her Harvard education & she gave credits her Indian mother.

As a society India was on survival mode. That striving generation is now giving their kids more than just 9 to 3 school. My kids go to one art and one sport classes after their school hours. My wife runs a music school and she has 400 students in 11 months. So , you can understand that i and my kids are not exceptions. When we talk to these 400 parents , they too are keeping their kids occupied with couple of things other than just school. We keep kids more busy than ourselves. 3 idiots movie is true and depcits my generation and prior generations.

Its better to be exhausted and go to bed than get bored and find ways to spoil yourself. Will do this until they keep their foot down one day 😅🤣

I think a kid should know how to move (so any dance would be a must haha) and then for a girl self-defence class for sure; and ideally a musical instrument (if talented - I was forced to play the piano - still hate it to this day - lol ) and some sports activity - and who knows maybe coding as well :D.

Because of the hardships during the foreign rule and also after the independence Indians are chiefly driven by a sence of insecurity especially while living abroad. That's why they stick to subjects with higher income potential and also maintain close family units as a support system. 🙏

It is amazing that it took so long for someone to create Patrick’s video because the success of Indian immigrants in the US is not new. Until recently, American TV shows and movies portrayed Indians as convenience store workers and cabbies. I met Jay Choudary because of aa business deal in the late 90’s. His networth was I believe $1.6B and he drove an Chrysler minivan with a missing hubcap. Lol.

Indian family is run by big dedication from the mother from making breakfast for the family to washing clothes, cleaning all the kitchen and all small chores and then go to work. After that she does most of the shopping, comes home prepares dinner for whole family and has a small break until all members in home. They eat together .those who study she will prepare packed food for them and drop them at school and arrange all her duties as a loyal mother and father earns the family for upkeep of expenses such as mortgage, school fees and running expenses of cars and home. So a joint family with a bond where everyone helps in home and business to be lawful and be good parents and in society hold good values.

In india family structure always comes first(respecting elders, learning from the generational wisdom, questioning them which is the most important part but within the designated respect and learning from their mistakes), because when you have disciplined family structure, which leads to discipline in society, discussing problem in local communities and working toward it, which inturns leads to great results as an individual and as a society.
So the learning starts within the family.

India was never unsuccessful. it was portrayed as such in the west & people thought they were poor when India was solely holding more then 55% of the GDP alone but was Looted/dropped down to 27% then 3% in the past 200-500 years. Nalanda & Tashya Shila, Vikramaditya and many more universities were destroyed and they Brought Mclayan Education system to make obedient slaves who followed orders without questioning them. there's a Famous quote " if u want to destroy an entire generation destroy their freedom of Thinking & Learning ". cause Learning is creation not Consumption, Knowledge isn't something a Learner absorbs but a Learner Creates. Batukeshwar Dutt & Bagha Jatin, Mastarda Surya Sen and many more were killed who opposed it. its a long history of war crime & such and i saw one person who came to India talk about it & how they were never tought this part of history. Truth to be Honest Good people are everywhere & loved that people like you are out there who are Conscious & doing whats possible for the betterment of society and spreading Good messages to everyone. one thing is true when ur on the path to become better nothing will stop you and we are with you. love your videos & keep doing what u love

One other important factor is Indian parents take care of their parents as well and live in the same household . The west doesn’t realize that Grandparents love and care from the very childhood has a profound impact on their children’s well-being and they too inform take care of the parents . This concept of living together is laughed at by westerners but that’s the secret . Tye child is under constant scrutiny and also gets love and emotional support . Also you will see Indian Mothers will make their children pray and they also go to temples regularly or weekly once actually so spiritualism and the sense of doing good deed over bad deeds gets instilled like an iron pillar from very childhood so that’s you never see an Indian robbing a gas station .. what I find most problematic in western parents is they do not make them pray regularly at home and also generally not strict in maintaining discipline and gives them an open leash . Children needs to be monitored like a hawk untill they cross their teens until they become responsible adults and Sven after that Indian parents will baby sit their kids , save save save for their kids so that they have a stable life so sacrifice is also important until western parents YOLO concept spend , splurge on vacation , cars etc useless material things and save nothing for kids and tell them to get at out 18 and go make your own living … Save money , live together for life with parents , take care of parents and children and pass your inheritance to your next generation so they already have a head start rather working from ground up .. That is why HUF - Hindu Undivided Famiky has been success for centuries and will continue to be successful . It’s an institution on its own .🙏

In the West, I feel it almost expected that a family is with kids, and you follow a status quo of not investing in the child for thier own good. It is more that you buy a puppy, and see this as a toy so you fawn over the puppy and buy the best toys, but you are not developing the puppy. Kids are not an extention of ourselves, we can never bring up a kid, as each person is an individual. It is the parent's duty to understand that we have to find the potential of the child and nuture this. We as a culture do not want thanks for this, by means of a special Christmas gift or Diwali gift, we try to enhance the reality of life and encourage self growth of personal potential. Having said this we never abandon them as we are still bonded by a family bond. We will remain their parents and look after the kids when they need to earn money and by living with us we save money and they save money. The Kids then have a respect of elders as well as a second generation knowledge. As with arrangenged marriages, this is a falsehood, we have introductions, these can be agreed upon or even shunned, but when agreed both families are totally binded, and if there are any family problems we come together as a family to try and help. At the end of the day if you instill trust in your elders, who knows you better than your parents. The problem with the west they want to outsouce care, love, and even their kids, so the culture is when you are 18 you are out the house, and now I have my freedom, as a parent that supposidely has done my duty for 18 years it is all on the kid. Maybe that kid will see his parents or Grandparents a Christmas. You isolated them and threw them to the wolves.

So why would someone work hard even if he is capable to do so. In pragmatic sense we are very punctual to the work.

The 10 points he mentioned makes sense in the more richer and educated households in India, they are also the ones who mostly emigrate, but some of them are not true for normal middle class parents in India especially the talent one😅
Also the father-daughter and son-mother thing is actually very true, I feel very close to my mother and so do most of my friends whereas my sister feels more connected to my father, maybe it's not that u would share everything with them but generally u feel more emotionally connected to them (mother-son and father-daughter), that's what I've experienced too. I also think it comes because for girls it's mostly their mothers who take on the role of instilling values in them and teaching them right and wrong so they are generally more strict with daughters and same is with boys and fathers, so they are generally more comfortable with the less strict parent
