You guys must be out of your mind.. Gras carp is the best tasting fish in the world.. "GUARANTEED " no joke... I don't know who told you that you couldn't eat them... excellent fluffy delicious and it's not boney
Cool tip, thanks! I’ve used “bread balls” for catfish and bluegills for decades, but I prefer to use hot dog buns. The buns are denser than sliced bread, and I dunk a big piece in water for just a second, which makes it “dough-y” so it stays on the hook even longer. For bluegills I use a small, long-shanked hook with a split shot around 8” above the hook, and a small bobber about 8”-10” above the weight.
Bro thank you for making point of telling me to just wait..... Bro these carps in the ponds at my apartments are crazy I got to get bag one. They keep teasing me , I'll be waiting for days now lol.
I live in Minnesota and in my local waters people throw goldfish and carps in the lakes so I catch em and I end up eating them this tutorial is useful but it's winter and the carps are shy and not active so it's kinda hard to catch goldfish or carp for that mater I'm subscribed.
Nice video...keep up the solid work! Questions ;). How line shy are they compared to bass? I want to catch a couple grass carp to control vegetation in a small neighborhood pond. I generally use 15# braid to 8# flouro leader, on spinning tackle, with a 5-6ft leader...careful not to spook the bass. The short leader Im sure helps keep the bread at the top of the water column, since braid floats but Is a 4-5ft leader too long? With my normal "bass fishing" leader length I also use the FG Knot and find it way stronger and more compact to go through the line guides better. I'm sure you're familiar with it and its definitely not easier to tie than the Albright, but what's your thoughts on knots and leader length on catching these big carp using traditional bass gear...like 9-10bb baitcasters and 2000 series spinning gear with good drag and 6'10"-7'2" MD HVY to HVY rods.
This realy wont work in my country. We fish grass carp with corn or boiles on bottom carp rods. Its actualy hard to catch big ones like you did cause they are more shy and careful while biting.
Great catch, but I must ask why don't you use a net to land the carp? Much better for the welfare of the fish. Also holding the fish up at head height for camera surely isn't a good idea, as these fish are notorious for flapping about out of the water. From that height, if they fall to the ground, it could cause permanent damage to the fish.
I've watched these huge fish behind my home for years rolling and foraging near the shore their dorsal fin and tail breaking the water like a shark never knowing what they were.I live off the griffin canal in broward so it could have been any number of fish after this monsoonal rain we had one came close enough to shore for me to see it completely! Thanks to you I now have a chance at catching one! Thanks guys loved the info, laughs and the genuiness of yall😊
I have a lake here near where I live with some giant grass carp, could I just cast it in front of them slowly to have them to take it while Im on my kayak?
This invasive species just got in the river right next to my apartment. They are everywhere. No one is fishing that river cause it's polluted and in the middle of the city but Imma try my luck! If I can have a few fun fights while also helping the ecosystem, it's a win win!
@@bobkowalski7655 it's so weird, I see a lot of people on the internet vouching for eating carp yet where I'm from (Quebec) every fisherman grimaces at the idea of eating carp... Apparently they're bottom feeders so they taste like mud...?
I hade a dream 💭 mike was a fish being caught over and over again !!! And every time he was caught the fish would laugh at him , and kick him back into the water to be caught again. It was a pretty crazy dream…

The carp in my lake are really picky and don’t usually eat, thanks to your tip I caught one. Thx
Grass carp actually eat a lot, but they are smart enough to distinguish bait from food.
