This video has been marked as "unsuitable for advertisers". UA-cam continues its grand crusade to fight hate speech by silencing advocates of the Autism Community.
Wow that's surprising I am very upset with UA-cam and I have disliked the You Tube rewind because You Tube has been ridiculous this year.
Yeah. And trying to contact them has gotten me nowhere.
wow thats ridiculous
Can't believe they so against the freedom of speech of us Autistic people.
The tag has been removed.
To me it's not about the insult itself. It's about calling things/people autistic that have nothing to do with it, spreading more misinformation.
Yeah I get that.
Thank you. I see people using autism as an insult so often nowadays, and I just find it sad how people are so misinformed. We're supposed to be becoming more tolerant, not less accepting! I have autism, and yes it can cause problems, but I'm not stupid. And that's how people are viewing me.
Exactly! There needs to be more than just awareness.
this is an important message. autism is not bad.
Thanks :).
Stephanie Dove Exactly! :)
I slightly disagree with this since autism can be bad for a lot of people however I still agree that it shouldn't be used as an insult and that people with autism deserve respect.
Yes
Respect Bro.
I am Autistic..... I am also an Artist.
Way I see it, Autism + Art= Artism. And Artism to me is Art Work that's Hard Work and is the Hearts work.
I've introduced "Artistic Autistic" as a warmup to speech teams in the past.
OOOOOOOOOO HELLO THEN- SORRY MY NAME MAKES THIS WEIRDLY PERFECT
Love this video, thank you so much for speaking out about this!
Of course thanks for watching.
I didn't learn that I was autistic until a few months ago. I looked it up when my mother said that I had autism, and I finally understood why I did the things I do. Mt sensitive hearing is the biggest problem because I went to the ent and got cat scans, they found nothing. Finally, my mother told that it could just from my autism because according to her, I had a lot of sensory issues when I was little. I didn't like touching certain things. I also had to have speech therapy because I struggled at speaking. So now I understand why family members I meet after a while were surprised to know that I was talking... When I met them as a toddler, I wasn't talking yet. Now I'm about to go to college, and I'm hoping and PRAYING that the other students aren't going to be as loud and noisy as my peers were in high school.. Otherwise, I might have a total meltdown.. 8th grade was a total nightmare for me because that's when my hearing started getting more and more sensitive, and I didn't have earplugs then. I was stuck in classes with loud students, I got stuck in the gym all the time, I had a total meltdown every day to the point I was banging my head. Teachers started getting mad, even when they KNEW the noise was too much for me. That really offended me, and that I wanted to go deaf. Now I'm wearing earplugs everywhere I go, so I don't have another meltdown in public. If I do, I try to hide it.
I would say that overall college was a more Autistic friendly environment.
@@OakCroftFilms in college now, and they have a disabilities thing to where I can get accommodations for my extremely sensitive hearing.
I Almost Cried! :') This topic is so sensitive but was worth talked about! Thank you so much for your videos as always Nathan! you're SERIOUSLY the best! i don't know what i would do without you friend! You've always shown Not only your logic and funny side, but your Seriousness of heart and that takes a real Advocate! YOU ARE DA BOSS!
Awww thank you so much :).
I FREAKING LOVE YOU DUDE!!!! AND ALWAYS, ANYTIME FOR YOU! :D
I love your Chanel so much!!! I love how you talk so honestly about what autism really is like and you help others on the spectrum by sharing your experiences, thank you.
Oh course. I'm glad you like them.
So much truth! Thank you! I am going to share this with my students. They often come in embarrassed by the diagnosis and, like you, I think it is pretty cool...
Thank you I hope it helps them.
I feel VERY powerful rn. This guy is my motivational speaker now.
You are an awesome person!!! Love your videos. And as a mother to a child with autism, YOU ARE VERY INSPIRING ☺😄
Thank you so much. And thank you for watching my videos :).
Loved this so much. My favorite way to respond to somebody saying "What are you, autistic?" as an insult is to grin at the person and say "I am, thanks for noticing!"
If you're taking suggestions about future topics, may I recommend doing something on those well-meaning people who become overbearing in their attempts at "helping" with stuff? It's embarrassing to have a person fuss over you when you keep insisting that you don't need any help doing this task.
Alright I'll take that under consideration.
Struck me way too close to home lmao. I'm lucky to have an understanding family but everyone else is NOT lol.
I went to film camp during highschool with another autistic kid. It was fun until the staff there started treating my like i couldn't do anyone myself without hurting myself by accident.
It's also the condescending tone they use when they ask, "Are you alright Hun?" Or "Do you need anything?" Like the questions are fine it's just the way they're said that ick me.
Thanks for sharing this message. We so need to be able to advocate for autistics. Fair valid points you made and so agree with you... I've been trying to share my life stories with aspergers... Keep up the good work...
Thanks! You too!
Oak Croft Films you're welcome.
I'm sure that others will listen eventually.
Aspie Answers you watch Nathan’s videos too? Cool beanz ✌🏾🦋🦋
Thank You For Speaking Out Nathan! : )
Of course :)
God bless you for this video. We autistics have to stick together! 👊👊👊
Not really lol.. there's people that have autism even used it as an insult from the times I have seen two users one from twitter and a different youtube video from two users
That claim they have autism and they use it as an insult.
"An identity...a point of pride." Yes...this.
I'm going to have to watch this video maybe 3 times a day for 8 weeks.
The last comment I can die laughing love you so much!
Its honestly sad because I feel like the words " autistic " and " special " is the new r word, so many people at my school constantly use it as an insult or basically another way of calling eachother stupid. People are so fucking ignorant.
I’m sorry, I understand how that feels. My school does the same thing. It’s so incredibly annoying
This “autistic” as an insult is like a substitute for “retarded” I have a friend with autism and he gets upset whenever someone uses the word autism as an insult. Autistics are just as much of a person as a neurotypical person is.
I'm 14 and my two little brothers have autism and my while grade of boys use autistic everyday as an insult and I have posted on the media how upset it make me and it's not funny to use it honestly it's not funny I'd like to see them deal with someone with autism. We're all the same autistic people are just like us it makes me so mad when people use autism as an insult, I ask them why, what is it? It leaves no mark :(
I am sorry to hear. That. Perhaps we do need to think of more ways to fight back.
When I was 14 I discovered that I was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome in 2007/2008.
And I really *hate* whoever uses the word "autistic" as an insult, I don't care if they were joking or not, I consider that as a lack of respect for people who are actually like that. Maybe somebody could not be proud of being like that and they can't even "find a cure" for it because there's not cure. They can improve, but they'll be like this forever. Yeah, it's strange, but it's the truth.
I could say the same about the word "cancer". I was never diagnosed with cancer or something like that, but I perfectly know that we shouldn't use that as an insult, because there are people who actually have it and they could even die for it. Why we should make jokes about serious things?
People can make jokes about whatever they want, but I think they must be respectful towards who has autism or cancer or something else.
i have autism and i overheard my 15 year old BROTHER using it to insult someone on his playstation. realllyy ignorant and it just hurts that he speaks before he thinks.
Yess!
:).
I have autism, OCD, and ADD. This was five minutes worth watching.
One of my special interests is anime and I also like gaming. Both of which have annoying assholes who think it's okay to make fun of autism. Sometimes, if you ask them to stop, they'll just make autism memes anyway and be complete assholes. And take a look at BBC's video on "Why Autistic People Love Manga." There's a lot of anime fans who commented on it to make fun of autistic people because IRL autistics aren't as cute as their "autistic" waifus. That or they hate autism in general.
I've gotten used to it and all but it sucks. As someone writing an anime/manga series with the main male character having autism and being deaf, I wouldn't be surprised if people reacted negatively toward him.
How have you gotten to where you are now? Im 22 and almost 100% sire i have autism. I was already diagnosed with processing and executive functioning issues as well as a general mood disorder. Autism makes a lot of sense. I just dont know what to do about it.
Mostly I studied what I was really interested in while I was in college. But I had a lot of support along the way. From my parents, my wife, my friends, and my service dog.
I hate when people are like “Ha your autistic” and think it’s savage XD
Your troll is lucky I haven’t met him! 😡
Thanks. I guess it's just a job hazard.
I’m kinda upset how youtube sees autism as a bad thing from what I feel since they marked this unsuitable for ads
And there are even people that are born with it even see it as a bad thing too since I have seen two users on the internet that claim they have autism
And they use it as an insult one of twitter and the other one from youtube that give out different reasons on why they use it as an insult.
this is a pretty small channel. 3,622 views and no dislikes. :)
Yeah. Hoping to keep growing though :).
