I remember beating this when I was 8 years old when it first came out. It was the very first game I ever beat, followed soon by Super Mario Brothers 2. I was SO EXCITEd! I still remember it, 30 years later! Thanks, Dad!
same here! I played a lot of NES games as a young kid, but my brother and I never really beat any early on, even though all our friends did (punch out, zelda, etc.). We just didn't have the patience (hyperactive twin boys, heh). I loved the mess out of this game because it was the first game I truly beat on my own (and it's easy to see why..... the game is redonkulously easy, and fast).
any other games I beat prior to snes days were via cheat codes (Ikari Warriors - "abba abba abba") or w/ the help of game genie, lol. Quite a few snes games I couldn't even play w/o cheat codes. Y's III is one of them, lmao. Just didn't have the patience for that game.... jesus... even with the debug menu and invincibility I was always in awe of how hard it seemed (by how much dmg I 'took').
Zelda 2 was the first NES game I beat back when I was 9 years old but then that game is one of the easiest game on NES. I did beat this game soon after though.
Oh yes! My mum gave me this when I was 4 or 5 years old. I remember how I enjoyed the final screen with Tic, Tric and Trac when I first finished this game. This is so nostalgic! Loving it.
This game brings back such sweet memories it makes me tear up. The remastered version is just as sweet and exciting, but this... This was my childhood.
+RedYellow Blue It really was a good game. You should find an NES emulator and play it all the way through. It was based on the DuckTales Cartoon which I didn't care for that much, but this game is just so much fun. There were a lot of lame games in this era and this one was well done. You can spend hours getting though it to the end. So many good memories.
this is what you get when a company actually cares about the product they are putting out. a great game that is no doubt a classic and has really held up well over the years. there were so many garbage nes games that were so clearly rushed and mass produced and turned out to be shit. same can be said about a lot of the games today as well.
Us old gamers used to be with it, until they changed what it was. Now what we are with isn't "it" and what is "it" seems weird and scary to us. But the upside is that it'll happen to today's gamers.
Well actually it's not only about caring about your product. Disney at that time was already a rich and huge company with hella lot of game devs wishing to make some money by working for them.
Chances are, if a Japanese dev was working on a game based on a western based property, or even their own country's, it would turn out fine (not always the case, but still), if a western based developer was working on a property from the west, chances are, it would ultimately end up in disaster. That's just the nature of the beast from that era. As for today's games, outside of a small handful, I could do without ever playing them.
The music in this game was just amazing, the game could also be a little scary at times back when I played this at 5-6 years old. I like that they didn't shy away from that. It added to the thrill of treasure hunting.
Currently playing the remake, and wow, I forgot how true to the original they actually kept it, with the stage design and everything. I loved this game as a kid. I also like how in the remake, I'm listening to remixed versions of these tunes, and they still bring back memories! :)
Wow, Fantastic walkthrough. Not one hit of damage and so many secrets. Thank you for finally completing the moon stage, When I was ten the moon stage was unbeatable to me and I finally gave up. This walkthrough gave me the closer I've been looking for. Thank you so very much. Much love. Be easy!
This in my opinion is the perfect Nintendo game it was when i was a kid and it is when i played it the other day it is not to easy but not to hard and graphic wise it is pretty good this game is worth owning :) i love it
Yeah, easiest game I had. Even at 7 years old, had to throw it on Difficult and try for good ending to have any sort of challenge. Still, it was just so much fun. Short and sweet, great game.
@@rac1equalsbestgame853 - Those aren't the only possible choices, but yeah. To be fair, it was only easy on Normal. ...and I probably played it a TON since it was my first NES game. (Mario/duckhunt came with the NES) I was already a big fan of the cartoon, so I went wild for the game. People were always asking me to borrow it. Make no mistake, it was great!
Man, so many hours staying the night over at my cousin's house when I was a child playing this....amongst others, of course. This one always sticks out in memory though as being one of the most fun to play. I remember liking the cartoon as a kid, but I didn't like it as much as this game. 30 years ago...wow.
Each memory has sweet and bitter taste at same time. I am afraid the bitterness is more intensive as being aware that time cannot be turned back. In my room, playing this game and enjoying the Moon stage music. Priceless.
I appreciate that whoever made this video left it on the main menu long enough for us all to jam out to the epic theme. I know I do that myself, but when other people do it too...amazing.
I came here for two things. The first was too see what the original DuckTales game was like. The second was to hear the iconic Moon Theme. I was not disappointed. 👏
I beat this game when I was 4 or 5. My parents thought I was some kind of prodigy. Kids today don’t have enough appreciation for these older games that didn’t tell you what to do at every turn. It was all trial and error, you had to improve every time you got to a part you couldn’t beat before. Could be really frustrating but rewarding when you finally beat the game. I remember playing this, Super Mario 3, and Mega Man 4 for a LONG time when I was a little kid.
Today's attention spans aren't long enough for younger gamers to be able to have enough patience and perseverance to finish games from the 8 and 16 bit eras. Now I know there are some who would be willing to take up that kind of challenge, but today's games are catered to them for that reason, the attention span of a fruitfly.
6:03 in order to trick the totem and save money, you can go back to the left until you see a spearman who will walk towards the right. Wait for him to walk a little closer to the totem and jump on him with the pogo stick, and then grab the vine and keep going.
I'll never forget winning a Super Mario contest (sm1 for nes) in a small local video rental store. I was 8 or 9 years old and the contest was who could get the highest score in 10 minutes. Still got the picture somewhere of me as my little nerdy kid self holding the score I got, lol. I think I scored around 180,000 points. I won a free game rental and chose Ducktales. I made a great choice, cause Ducktales is one of the best NES games of all time. You think Shovel Knight gets made if not for Ducktales? When I first saw Shovel Knight's attack, I immediately thought of this game. Definitely had to of been inspired from this. Hopefully one day Wayforward makes a remastered version of the 2nd ducktales game. They did a great job remastering the 1st one.
Anyone who loves this game and hasn’t played the remastered version on Wii U, needs to do so. It’s basically the same exact game with incredible graphics, voice overs from the original actors, tons of cut scenes and a lot of cool unlockable extras. It’s definitely worth the $20 price tag.
Sadly not long after Remastered came out, Alan Young and June Foray passed away. Looks like they both got to do the one thing they loved before moving on to the great beyond, voicework of their famous characters, though Ms. Foray had a long line of voicework she did, while Alan Young got to star opposite a talking Horse named Mr. Ed.
When my friend had this game, and Chip and Dale 1, I wrote them off as silly kids games, these days I no longer do so, and have both games, their sequels, and both Game Boy Duck Tales games as well. The sweetest deal I found, Duck Tales 2 NES, and Chip and Dale 2 NES, combined $60 cart only at a retro game shop years back (the games were both in the $100 to $150 price range each, even at that time!), a steal of a lifetime (till I found Cowboy Kid, also locally for $5, cart only). Now Duck Tales 1, and Chip and Dale 1 have steadily increased in price.
One of my favourite games on NES when i was a child. In Italy i played it in 1991-92. The music was also the same of the cartoon and was translated in Italian.
Brings back SOOOO many childhood memories! I used to have a TON of Nintendo games and this one was at the top of my list! I still actually play this & other classic Nintendo games on one of those game emulators I downloaded from the Google playstore. Plus, I also play Game Boy AND Game Boy Color games together through ANOTHER emulator.😊 For Nintendo, NES Boy PRO emulator and for the Game Boy & Game Boy Color, Pizza Boy Pro. While there are many game emulators, those two for me anyway, are the best around.😊👍📱💻
It is found that when the transparent plate with photo-detector matrix is installed before TV screen, the shooting game gun, which projects light beam through LED lense, could work on LCD/OLED screen with instant and precise aiming.

The moon

Severus Jake The Moon stage is such a Mega Man style stage and music. Then again this was a Capcom game.
It has become a meme
Brandon Schreiber You're right. It is a meme. 😂
I'm playing the remastered version on my PS3 now! I gotta say, it's a wonderful example to how remasters should be truly made! It's duck-tastic!
