To the dozens of people complaining about how fast this guy talks, there is literally a setting on UA-cam to slow down the play speed.
CX5 made in Japan. Huge plus.
Why is that a plus ? The cx-50 is made in the Toyota factory . And none of these cars are Hand built .... Google the Mazda factory .. robots aren't going to be less effective in a different location. And like I said. Keep in mind this is the TOYOTA factory . Toyota isbt exactly known for their lack of Quality..
@@chrisfree6372 widely recognized throughout the auto industry that the QC from Japan is far superior to that of any other country, incl Germany and the USA. The robotics are still monitored by people and the factories still employ many of them.
@@Michael-li3idbut there's German and American vehicles with better build quality, so that's not really true.
in some instances, sure. A Cadillac might have better build quality than a Mistubishi Mirage. But like I said, overall, car for car, the QC is better in Japan.@@trenton737
@@chrisfree6372 Yes they are Toyota has shitty interior and looks cheap now wouldn't pay low dollar for an cheap kia like Toyota these days.
Just purchased CX-5 after test driving both CX-5 and CX50.
Main reasons for choosing CX-5 are that the interior cabin is much much quieter over CX-50 and the seat is a normal Napa leather over weird middle stiched seats from CX-50 which actually is not so comfortable.
Wonderful family car ❤❤❤
The CX50 is a bit bigger all around. I have a CX50 and my mom has a CX5, so I’ve driven both. The CX5 feels smaller on the inside. Less cargo room. I agree with Ben about the interior feel. The CX5 does have slightly better feeling materials, but that’s not to say the CX50 doesn’t feel good, because it does. The CX50 steering is VERY heavy. I find that to be a plus. Both vehicles punch well above their price point. Many will say the CX5 because it’s made in Japan. Which is great, but the CX50 is assembled at the Toyota plant in Alabama. That being said, the engine, transmission and other major components are still manufactured in Japan and shipped to the US. That should inspire some confidence. Now, if the CX50 were made in a Chrysler plant…Mazda and Toyota have some joint ventures happening atm. It really comes down to which one you think looks the best. You will make the right choice either way you go.
Don't forget the CX-5 has a multi-link more expensive rear suspension.
Indeed it does. Although, I don’t think the average person is going to care one way or the other. The CX50 still handles and rides very well. It’s a bit on the stiffer side, but not a harsh stiff. It reminds me of a luxury sports car ride.
@@chrisfree6372 I have not noticed any difference. the rear torsion beam was engineered by mazda in some specific way for the cx 30. I had the mazda cx 5 for a few years they both drive really well. personally. I wish they would have stuck with the heavier steering in the 2023 models they caved into car reviewers who were used to fake electronic steering. The heavy old school sports car steering is something id have liked. but the softened everything up for the 2024 model
I don’t understand why most car reviewers get it wrong! The CX 50 on all trims has wireless Apple CarPlay play and android auto and it is a touchscreen once it’s enabled! Ugh!
The CX-5 looks so mean in the deep crystal blue. Man that color looks so good! I wish it was available for the Cx-50. Both great vehicles, but honestly waiting for the CX-70 then I’ll trade in my Mazda 3 loll
me too I watch all the EU youtube reviewing about it, the Interior just stunning, I hope i can jump from my cx5 CE to cx70 in 2more years
What about the Ingot blue on the 50. It’s a little bit lighter than the crystal blue on the CX five but it’s still fairly dark.
DCB, is almost like black. Very difficult to keep clean
For those trying to choose between the two, I already have an older CX5 and went with the new CX5 because of the 40/40/20 split on the 5 instead of the 60/40 on the 50; makes a difference when you're trying to transport long items like a beach umbrella while still accommodating 3 passengers. There is also independent rear suspension on the 5 whereas it's a torsion beam on the 50; big difference in corners/turns on bumpy pavement. And I'm going to be sitting inside the car most of the time, not looking at it from the outside, so even though the 50 does look better outside, the interior is a deal breaker when compared to the 5. The 50 is no replacement for the 5 and I think sales will show this unless they axe the 5 altogether.
Thank you for this review
I agree, and I'll also add that I think the CX-5 looks better on the outside. No fake vents and it's a sleeker package.
Про двойные стекла забыл
had the cx 5 for a few years just got the 50 not noticing a huge difference with handeling honsetly.
Gotta love Mazda Ben !! ❤❤
I test drove both and bought cx-5. CX-5 is taller, drives better and steering wheel is lighter. The interior also looks better. Also CX-5 is made in Japan!
I absolutely love my CX-50 GT Turbo. Highly recommend.
Mazda gave a loaner recently. '24 cx5 signature. I had never really driven a suv platform before (current car is a '19 mazda3 sedan awd). I have since been watching comparisons of the 5 and 50 ever since. Your video has made me decide on the 5. Thanks and algo's
*I want but don't need it lol.
Camera stabilization was an option? Who knew!?
on-screen bullet points would be nice also.
wish the 50 was available here, looks a lot better on the outside
For me the key difference in daily use is that on the CX50 you have a wireless touchscreen for CarPlay but CX5 is only wired and no touch
It’s wireless and touch on the 2024 model I have (South America)
Thanks for the quick review - I'm shopping for both these at the moment as well as comparing the Tucson and Santa Fe - basically anything in the < 45k range - - - currently the Meridian is in the lead - - - haven't found a 2024 Santa Fe yet though
A couple of aside comments: The Honda CRV interior to my surprise and utter shock - felt like complete garbage - I felt like I was sitting on a wooden park bench compared to the Mazdas and Hyundais
also, nfn - comparing the interior door materials of the CX-50 vs CX-5 - logically it makes sense for an off-road intended vehicle to use a harder plastic on the top of your doors - which would you rather clean accidental mud or water stains off of? plastic? or vinyl/leather?
Cx 50 looks more masculine like a mans vehicle where the Cx 5 looks more feminine to me like a ladies vehicle. I like the Cx 50 way more because its got that low wide and aggressive look almost like an Acura and Infinity mix. Not really feeling the more egg shaped and taller Cx 5, both are stylish tho.
I have a CX5. I love it. However, the MPG needs some improvement.
If I get a 50 imma get the plastic trim glossed wrapped would look very premium
What tire shine product did you guys use?
Does the CX 50 have heads up display?
Also the cx50 meridian trim in US doesn’t come with the awesome 12 speaker bose system whereas the cx5 premium and premium + do
Yes, you have to go up to the Premium and Premium plus trims on the CX 50 to get that
Test drove the CX5 and CX30 although the CX5 has more space the the interior seemed dated. The CX50 and CX30 have 12 speaker Bose systems. The CX5 has 8. The centre armrest on CX5 is not adjustable and is too far back to be useful. CX30 armrest is adjustable. CX30 and CX50 have cup holders in front of the gear shift so armrest is forward. I do like the fact the rear seat recline slightly in the CX5. Overall I prefer the wider stance of the CX30 and CX50. I own a CX30 GT and my son owns CX50 ( his does have touch screen and heated and ventilated seats) both are 2023. They are all good vehicles depending on your taste. Personally I think the CX30 and CX50 are every bit as luxurious as the CX5 depending on trim level. CX5 is due for a refresh next year.
I just purchased 2024 CX-5 after test driving both CX-5 and CX-50. Major drawbacks of CX-50 were lots of wind/road noises plus the terrible stiches across the middle of the seat, which is kind of uncomfortable.
As for CX-5, I also wished the seats were a bit bigger, but at least they weren't bothering too much like the seats from CX-50. Also, the suspension setting is on the firm side that if you want responsive, fun driving car, it would be perfect but if you just want a cruiser for comfort, this may not be the one.
To me, pros of the CX-5 (much quieter interior cabin due to better sound dampening, better seats, slightly cheaper price, good handling due to firmer suspension setting) outweighted some of the negatives where as CX-5 cons were too much to overcome as you the road noise and uncomfortable seat for a daily driver is a definite no.
I’d like to see one between either of these and the RAV4… I still can’t decide which one is better.
I wish the CX-50 was taller and even a bit larger. Smaller rims, softer suspension, and better off road tire! It seems so close in size to the CX-5 and I really wanted something a fair amount larger. More like the size of the new Honda CR-V.
CRV is a bit roomier, however I thought the CX50 interior size was not far behind.
The CX50 is a bit too "over the top" with it's faux rugged appearances. I bet Mazda mellows this out in future trims.
The back cargo area is longer than the CX five
What’s crazy is the 50 is the same size as the bmw x3 but the height is the x1 and the 5 is opposite
Just turn Ben down to .75 speed in the video settings and he sounds normal.
Cx5 i’m on my 3rd one
Which one feels wider on the inside?
The 50
Only Mazda owners would know small details like: CX-50 is equipped with hood struts, GPS directions mirror on heads up display (Active Driving Display) for CX-50, the front radar sensor is moved from behind the Mazda logo to behind the black box just below the front license plate (that's why the Mazda emblem at front is much smaller)
Small details like Cx50 has a twin scroll turbo instead the dynamic pressure turbo in the cx5.
Wow great car both
cx5 is better looking. I like the front of cx5 and the back of cx50
Love it
The cx50 feels "squishier" because of the tires...17" knobby tires compared to the relatively low profile 19" wheels on the cx5.
#ZoomZoom Mazda does a fabulous job
My wife had the cx5 after 140000 miles, cero problems, she switched for the cx50, I’m not sure if she did the right thing…..
What happened?
The local dealers told me that the CX50s weren't selling as expected. I assume ita the rather polarizing appearance.
I've been in both and agree about rhe quality difference, though its not enough to deter me from buying the. CX50.
The CX50 does feel a bit roomier.
Both are great vehicles and, unlike Toyota/Honda, good deals can be made. Selling at invoice or bleow is definitely doable.
Which is odd to me considering the CX 50 is the way better looking of the two, I guess people really care about that CX 5 interior.
@@thetheoryguy5544 yes, because that's where you are sitting when driving.
@@mohammedosman88 Well duh, but personally not a huge issue.
The back of the 5 looks so plain compared to the 50. More than a few times I’ve been behind one and have mistaken them for a small hatchback. 😣
both kinda tight
🙄
CX50 definitely looks more agressive
CX-50 off road? That would be crazy.
Diving the cx-5 feels like driving a car.
My fiance was in the car market here in 2023 and we went and tested the CX-30 and the 5. We ended up getting the 5 because of the luxurious feel and extra room.
Personally, I drive a 2023 Subaru Forester. I wish I would have drove a 50 in hind sight just to see how it felt.
However! We both love our current cars. Neither one of us regret our decisions. But thats just an based on what I know.
Nice car❤
the cx-50 is built in the u.s. while the cx-5 is built in japan. the fit and finish is different.
We currently own the CX 90 PHEV…. Do not buy I repeat, do not buy…. we’ve already had it recalled five times in the past three months of owning it and were told by the service department that there are many more to come… that being said, we’re looking at trading it for a CX 50 or 5.
Holy crap really. Glad we decided on the CX-50 this weekend.
Last weekend, we had the chance to close on the CX-90 phev as well but, the thought of no record of reliability from Mazda worries me.
I figure they might used or ask Toyota to help them in that department.
Ben,
Ease up on the coffee. 😂
Ya, agreed…love Ben but turn him down to .75 video speed and he sounds pre-expresso.
A BETTER TERM would be " OFF ASPHALT"-- over the term off-road... because a dirt road would be fine- but NOT OFF-road..
Cx5 > cx50
Vote CX50
I Can SEE the differences--- 1- TIRES (and BETTER wheels- those retard 20" are worthess and ugly 2- body style-- looks sharper to me.. 3- builts on CX30 platform.. Otherwise-- about the same.I STILL would love the CX-50!!!
Sunroofs are worthless in my opinion
No they aren't
@@ELP1125 it's a wannabe convertible

😳😳😳
I really hope they dont replace the 5 with the 50. I feel like thats the plan but it’ll be a mistake. The 50 really isnt that great. Cx5 is legendary for mazda
Don't worry, they won't. CX-5 is getting a new gen in 2025 or 2026.
Why not use the naturally Aspirated engine cars?? I do not like the turbo.
They do come with NA, you just need to check before you complain
Have a drive of one then tell us what you think. The turbo is amazing.
I like the CX 5 exterior look as well, I don’t like the box look of CX 50. The tires on CX 50 were cool and the seats might be better as the just suggest but the exterior and interior look of CX 5 outweighs the 50 for me.
I want to know two things-- can one get a MERIDIAN version CX-50 WITHOUT the damn panoramic roof crap (that's just a leak waiting to happen)... OR- can one get one of the other packages in Premium range and SWITCH to 18" tires or 17s INSTEAD of the RETARDED 20" crap?? (they're stupid- rougher ride- go flat easier, and look retarded- like you put a huge wheel but forgot the rubber).. IF I can-- let me know-- I am having issues reading the website today.. (eye surgery- one missing and not adjusted to the new lens in the other one)... THANKS.
I spoke to a local dealer about putting the 17" rims that they already have in inventory on a Turbo. He said no. Didn't want to "assume liability for the diameter difference." Incredible. Not sure how you can market a vehicle as a utility vehicle and give it an off road mode, then kneecap it with garbage rims and tires. And there's no metal skidplate. My '14 Forester XT has a frikkin skidplate.
@@squirreltakular9049 What gets me is - its the SAME DAMN CAR except for a couple fancy tech things.. that they put them on.. !!! That's just BS.. I'll offer to buy a PREMIUM- and then ask them IF i can buy a set of wheels and tires myself- and if they say NO- they LOSE a $45,000 or more sale!!
Slow down man.. Feels like I'm watching it in 2x
Dude sounds like an auctioneer!
Yeah, had to play it at .75 speed
IT'S NOT AN OFF-ROADER.
IT'S A SOFT-ROADER JUST BEHIND A FORESTER
CX5 IS BETTER CX50 roof line too short.
CX50 = Made in ALABAMA 😂😂😂
Big difference: gas
Explain
ugly both, good performer though, I ll go with 5
The 50 is more manly but not built in Japan. The 5 is considered cute and I see it driven by women at least 98% of the time. I bought a 9 since it’s bigger and more manly looking. The 50 has the stupid start/stop (why Mazda?)
"More manly"
Small pp energy right there
Really cx5 is less manly wtf😂
Just adding that I totally disagree with you man
CX9 is for soccer moms 😂
@@ELP1125 Its true tho.
It has a button to disable start/stop.
Your channel, your rules? Cringe. ✌️
Mazda vehicles will not let you go forward or backwards without you putting on your seatbelt.
Are you for real?
My husband frequently does not wear his seatbelt, car drives fine. You cannot use cruise without the seatbelt on so he is then forced to click in. 😊
Totally false do not listen to this
The CX-5 beeps at you if you go over 5ish mph without the seatbelt on, but it eventually stops.
@@TheDiameter I've got one parked in my driveway right now and if your seatbelt isn't fasten, you're not going anywhere.
I had a 2018 RAV4 LE with 136,834 miles just traded it in for a 2023 RAV4 . My 2018 RAV never let me down, drove it through 18 inches of snow and ice, heavy downpours and it never hesitated. I put between 25k to 29 miles on my vehicle every year. I did keep up the maintenance as needed, the only thing I did to it was a complete brake replacement, I felt it was for my own safety and it rode on Michelin Defender LTH . I do like the CX5 , went first to see a CX5 first, they are nice, very nice, but when the salesman told me very honestly, we can’t compete with Toyota. I thanked him and went directly to Toyota. Both are great cars, but a Toyota is backed by tradition and a great reputation.
We can’t compete with Toyota how? I feel like something is getting lost in translation.
Cool story but boring just like the Rav4 lol
I think you talk so much about Toyota that he just tell you to fucc off. But instead said it nicely to you in a different way.
Slow down your speech please. It is okay to slow down a little bit.
