MY GUY!! Two months in, you’ve helped me to progress exponentially. Thank you my brother. I’m looking forward to this one, and the next 🙏🏾
I suggest watching his singles video (video before this one) and most definitely - double stroke lesson a few years back.
Singles and Doubles are the core to playing, right?
'Beatdown' is the man(!) at making this effortlessly worth while practicing.
Smoove. Everyone needs that book and listen to some Feel Good Phil Gould!
Rob the funkiest drummer on the tube!
Hahaha. Thanks man! 👊🏽
I hear some Stevie Dub in that mix. Fun stuff as always, Rob👏🏻
what the world needs now, is funk, sweet funk.
Big up, Beatdown! 👊🏼
I bought a copy of Syncopation a few years ago, but have have not fully understood how to approach it. This video was a HUGE help....throwing this book back on the music stand tomorrow 👊
Been playing these every day- tks Rob
Awesome! Thank you so much! 🙌
Very cool! I will try this tonight. My drum teacher in college had me working through the syncopation exercises starting on page 37 in a swing/be-bop idiom. I played the swing pattern on the ride cymbal, bass drum comping on 1, 2, 3, 4, hi-hat on 2 and 4, then play the syncopation pattern on the snare, a la Jim Chapin. Then to change it up, he had me play the rhythm exercise on the snare and bass (no comping), interpreting it with the eighth played on the snare and the quarters played on the bass drum. It's a great exercise to try!
That is so cool and it’s really good
I’m going to
Love your videos man
Very, very practical. When I hear this, I am reminded of the drum beat in the Stevie Wonder song, Superstition. Cheers, Rob! ✌️
Great stuff. Love it when the next generation realizes that the previous dudes knew what they were doing.
Great lesson video, thank you Rob 👍 Regards from Bulgaria 💯
That's my, and my drum teacher's favourite book there! Edit: Awesome exercises, gonna apply them on my daily pocket routine on low tempos to really get my package every day more tight!
Thanks Rob. Great information. I got that book way back in the seventies. My drum teacher turned me onto that book. Very, very good book. I still have it. LoL. 👍🏿
I just blew the cobwebs off that book I've had it in my cupboard since 73, Thanks Mr Brown You Have Reinvented me🥁🔥🥁👏💎👏
More Hi-Hat! Between that and the snare, I am saying keep practicing.
thank you.
Sounding good buddy! So I've been working on that double stroke kick technique you explained a while ago, the same one you are using here, toe tap heel drop. You weren't kidding when you said it's going to take time, but it's been so worth it, has solved several problems I was having with mid tempo double strokes and some other stuff. That vid was gold to me man, much thanks and much love for that!!
Your right foot technique is filthy on those doubles
Awesome, thank you!
Marvelous stuff as per usual ❤
Thank you Rob! Will definitely be following your lesson and I bought the syncopation book you mentioned.
"Great Stuff Rob" "As Always, "Tasty Playing!
Hi guy! Can you tell me what kind of speakers do you use to out the sound of your drum kits through the mics...Did you use the Alesis on the clips. Thanks.
Always good if the audio and video are synched.
You know..... I must have watched thousands of your videos, but this is the first time I have noticed that the angle of your foot on the kick pedal is at such an angle.
👌
Very nice, thank you. Maybe it's just me but the swung versions remind me of the "superstition" beat
what mics are you using??
Anyone know the title to the drum fill beat down video where he phonetically pronounces drum fills as Dugga Dugga etc etc. lol I know that sounds weird but I recall it being helpful and can’t find it now.
💙👊😎
What hi hats are you using? Crystal clear!
Those are 15” Signature Dark Energy 🥇
I think New Breed is more versatille, don't you think?
I just tried these today. What a mess. Need to follow the golden rule: you can’t play fast until you play it slooooow.
🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
