  • I used a SM57 on the 2x12 cab and you are hearing the raw and unprocessed audio.
    Get ready to experience a whole new level of tone creation. THR100H Dual packs true dual-amp functionality into a single 5kg package. Both amps feature five custom-voiced amp types with natural, organic overdrive, Yamaha’s new ultra-dynamic power amp with selectable output tube simulations and selectable class A or A/B topology, independently assignable boosters, reverbs and IR speaker simulators, as well as selectable single or true dual-discrete inputs for genuine dual-path connectivity.
    Hope you enjoy!
    Cheers
    Sam

    Just when you think this amp can only do hi-gain you pull out that beautiful clean sound! Been thinking about pulling the trigger on this amp and cab for ages and your demo might have just given Yamaha my money! 🤘

    Came for the amp demo - stayed for the chops. Loved the Star Wars arrengement too. Cheers.

    Dude, I love your playing so much, great riffs and choice of notes, my new favourite guitarist of the month. oh yeah the amp's awesome as well, I have one. I'm going to have to subscribe, and learn a few of your tricks. You rock.

    Thanks Sam. I've had this amp for over two years and I love it. This is hands down the best demo I've seen. Many of them are terrible and do the amp no favours. Great playing too !!

      I struggled to like mine at first, I only just got it. I feel like the tone is one of those sounds that's harsh on it's own but just made for a mix. Is this what you experienced too? I feel like you kind of have to grow into it.

    • @richardparker6279
      @richardparker6279 3 роки тому

      @@Patrick-857 It takes a while to tune this amp in. I definitely would not describe it as harsh. What type of sounds are you going for?

      @@richardparker6279 I go all the way from clean to heavy chugging. One issue is I'm using very high output single coils and low tunings. They can be nasty. The other thing is I suspect speakers are a problem. I'm currently running it into the speakers of my two Hotrod Deluxe iii combos, 1 of which has an Eminence Red Coat Wizard, and the other has a Celestion G12P-80. To my knowledge these aren't optimized for high gain stuff. I don't have a cab yet, but I'm hoping to pick up something soon.

      @@Patrick-857 Sounds like you have special requirements!! I have the matching 2x12 cab which is excellent but yesterday I played a friend's through a cab with 2 x V30's in it and that sounded good.

      @@richardparker6279 I'd like V30s. I saw a second hand Marshall 1960B with two Greenbacks and two V30s recently that was pretty affordable.

    I've been using the Yamaha THR series amps and they absolutely have THE tone I've been looking for forty five years. ANY tones you want, it's in there.

    Sam: My first time checking you out, man. I've been picking for 35+ yrs now. I thought, ok, what's this 'kid' got to offer - dang, man! Love your chops & style! I'll be (attempting to) rip off some! I'm a little surprised you didn't combine the 2 amps with different tones in stereo. In having my 100HD for a few weeks, I find that it really opens up the tones when combined - I esp like a cleaner sound to compliment the Lead tone. (And try running a Boss super-shifter in detune & a slight delayed signal to the 2 amps to make it sound like 2 guitarists! Wowzer! Check it out!) That's the ONLY thing that would make this demo ANY better! Nice job, brother!

    I bought this because of it's stereo possibilities and it's options. I didn't like it at first, it does the Fender cleans, the Vox chime and the Marshall crunchy pretty well, but the high gain sounds on the Modern setting didn't do it for me, too much fizz in the high mids. Also all the sounds had a hard and dry tone to them. After lots of tweaking and experimentation, it grew on me. The Modern amp is based on a Soldano (probably SLO100) which is notoriously fizzy in the high end same as a 5150. It's grown on me and what I'm beginning to realize is that it's got a tone that works well in a mix. I have spent years first using crappy practice amps and multi effects pedals that sound great in a bedroom by themselves and horrible in a mix, then the last 7 years I've been exclusively playing through the clean channels of two Fenders with all manner of fuzz and distortion pedals. Hearing what is damn close to real amp distortion is a jarring experience but I'm getting used to it.
    This amp feels like a real tube amp. It's dynamic, it can get that metal thumping low end, it's got the grind in the mids when the gain is pushed, and the boost particularly the orange boost which is modeled on an MXR Micro Amp just takes it to the next level.
    I like it, but it's an oddity, poorly marketed and from what I can tell pretty unsuccessful. To me it seems to have a surprisingly steep learning curve for an amp that's supposed to be so simple to use, and many of the controls are subtle.
    The only other complaint really is that the clean models are too quiet. This can be fixed with the boost though, particularly the Clean amp has enough headroom that you can boost it up to the level of the other amps without breaking it up, and if you turn down the master and boost it more it will produce some filth when required.

    Great riffs... Excellent examples of the different tones from the different configurations... Well played... and we'll demo'd... 🍺👍... If the idea is to have a giggable non tube light weight tone monster Yamaha seems to have nailed it... I want one😁

    No one better than SAM to demo this awesome amp. Yamaha stuff is just superior technology and quality. I tried so hard to NOT like it because its not one of the popular name brand amps. I was WRONG. You jus cant ignore its badassness. Ihave a THR10X and will NEVER part with it no matter what other similar amps come out. Thinking about getting one of these as a main gigging amp.

      We're light years from where modelling was a decade ago and the stigma applied to it (though for sure there remains hold outs for valves). I have a few pricey amps and can't shake the desire to get one of these so I can get rid of them.

    Just bought one second hand and haven't ever played one. Is the volume adequate? I will be playing it through a stereo vertical 212 at 8ohms each speaker. Just concerned that the volume will be adequate as some forums say they are overrated for power, I will run crunch setting and above so clean will not be used. Your experience with the unit would know the answer.

    • @albertopsi75
      @albertopsi75 4 роки тому +1

      For mid and high gain tones it is loud enough. But the absolutely clean tones lack some headroom. You need to boost it slightly. But remember you also have the great line out output with IRs.

    • @albertopsi75
      @albertopsi75 4 роки тому +1

      Also, the crunch is loud enough. The EQ makes a big difference in how loud it is. Try cranking mids. You will see a huge difference.

  • @richardparker6279

    Matt, do you find a difference in tone when you set output for 25 watts ? Does it act like an attenuator ?

    • @Patrick-857
      @Patrick-857 3 роки тому

      I have this amp, got it recently second hand. Each wattage setting sounds slightly different, with the volume set at about 9 o-clock I didn't notice much difference in volume, but at 50 and especially 25 watts it sounds more compressed.

  • @Zeonoid

    with all that gain bullshit settings you play at the beggining its even hard to distinguish which type of guitar you play.. so CLEAN FROM 4:44
