  • I went for a street rip on the old KX500. Not the best for the street, but a h*ck of a ton of fun. I call it smiles per gallon. Enjoy!

    Have you done a leak down? Just seems awfully low compression. Looks sick though!

    • @bumpstartnether
      @bumpstartnether  3 роки тому

      Appreciate it! It def was not at its normal compression. Shortly after this i had to replace the crank seals. I was running lean. It was lower on compression for sure. I have a 1993 engine in it now. Decomp head and new crank bearings, seals, Wössner rod and piston, Boyesen RAD valve, Lectron carb, etc.

    It would be awesome to have a 2-stroke 500 cc bike on the road but i couldn't justify running a bike that does less mpg than my "2.0 litre petrol turbo car". I'd love to see someone stick a lighter to the exhaust of a 500cc 2-stroke to see what kind of flames you can get off the exhaust gases. I done it on a 125cc 2-stroke once, the exhaust gases were still flammable!
    I've got a 2001 Yamaha XT600E, which i took apart to paint the frame, can't wait to get it back on the road soon, i love big old thumpers.

    Hey man that oil coming off may be from the exhaust mount, which happen to on a 2 stroke before.
    I have a question for anyone who can answer it. If he put a smaller sproket kit wouldnt it be fine on the streets? I think it would have a good powerful motor and a good topspeed. Besides its a badass bike.

    • @bumpstartnether

      tsu yes, better sprockets would help a bit, but the characteristics of a two stroke motocross bikes do NOT like the streets. It’s either ON or OFF. Not much in between.

      Not trying to be rude just a genuine question is why? Oil is heavier than gas so if you turn your fuel off and put gas then the oil shake it up and get moving after turning your gas back on would it matter?

    • @bumpstartnether
      @bumpstartnether  4 роки тому +2

      Rylee Alvarado honestly not exactly sure. I know it needs to be mixed well and that is tough to do on the bike.

    • @alexdamron3170
      @alexdamron3170 4 роки тому +1

      Rylee Alvarado if it’s going strait into the tank you want the fuel to help splash the oil around if your mixing it in a can it doesn’t matter as much I mix in the can on my 125 and do the oil second so I don’t have to take it with me to the gas station but once I pour it in I make sure I give it a good shake

    • @fackspadan
      @fackspadan 4 роки тому

      Other way around, if you do it like that you can have bad luck and alot of oil goes to the carb, then you can’t get the fuck started without draining it. 2 stroke oil mixes very easily.
