  • Tony Golsby-Smith introduces the upcoming Gospel Conversations conference to be held in Sydney on the 25/26th August.
He expresses the excitement that we all hold in anticipation of his visit. He also explains that Gospel Conversations is not just inviting a big name but rather a speaker who can help us to put the Lord Jesus Christ on a much higher pedestal than traditional Protestantism has done in the past.

The 'low anthropology' of the magisterial reformation can be traced back to St Augustine's debates with Pelagius. Augustine read Jerome's mistranslation of Romans 5:12 which says that we sinned in Adam (in quo omnes peccaverunt) but the Greek only says 'because' of Adam (eph ho). Without the notion of inherited guilt/sin there be be no Calvin and Luther as we know them.

Exactly! Its equal parts hilarious, astonishing and worrying that billions of people over the centuries have got Christianity so wrong, often misleading others and wrecking lives in the process. What a silly institution the mainstream church has become. Always look forward to DBH content.

      That's an overstatement.
The will's bondage, however one understands it, remains a biblical theme. As do predestination and election. You can also think of them in whatever ways. But at the end of the day, both Israel and the Church represent distinct peoples, set apart by grace, and no other peoples can relate to God in exactly the same way.
Indeed, even the chosen peoples fail more often than not. Hence, human nature and human will are seriously damaged and are dependent on grace, election and predestination in obvious ways, both biblically and historically.
Which also illustrates that whatever one says about biblical anthropology, any great partaking of God's nature doesn't happen in this life but only the next as even the purest saints are far from perfect. And it is because of grace and the Divine, having little to do with ourselves or our current nature.

I’m thrilled with the focus of the upcoming conference- nothing addresses the “meaning crisis” more directly than the deep truths of our being made in God’s Image- understood as grounded in THE Image, our eternal Archetype, Jesus Christ ❤️

And would we have to say also that Professor Hart is widely known for his modesty and for his toleration of those who disagree with him?
