I have a 1996 Pontiac Trans Am Comp T/A (120 of ~200) with 31k mikes, and I freakin’ love it! My 1994 Camaro Z28 1LE is a monster. However simple maintenance like changing the spark plugs is nearly impossible from the top and you find yourself underneath the car changing them. So many senors that it canbe a problem to nail down when they fail.

    These lt1s are NOT bad motors at all. They have a bad reputation but i thinks thats just because they were misunderstood when they came out and were quickly overshadowed by the LS motor. Of course if you can get an LS do it, but if your just gonna mod a car slowly over time, these are fine options. Ive had one for years and it has the 24x coil pack conversion with 200,000 miles running strong.

    these are ok cars.
    can be fun if you enjoy the torque.
    ride is rough.
    thanks to rudimentary rear suspension.
    to get in and out of the car, it helps to be short, trim, and flexible.
    if you are tall, stocky and stiff, it can be a workout.
    keep an eye on the plastics and gauges, pray that they stay working

    I had a "94" identical to this one. I added red racing stripes which really set it off. I bought it with 70K miles. It was a one-owner when I bought it in 2004.
    I kept it 17 years and used it for work. When I sold it 2 years ago, it had 341K miles on it. Still ran like a new car and never used a drop of oil. Did I put money in it? Yes I did, but it was a fun car and not a week went by when someone didn't give me a compliment in it. Even in traffic! I may buy another one before I die..

    I bought my 1997 Mystic Teal Metallic Z28 in 2003. A one owner car with 56,000 miles. Just reached 100,000 miles on 9/4/23. It runs great and still gets the same mileage as when it was new. One of the first things I replaced were those not so attractive 5-spoke 16 in. wheels with a set of 2000 SS 17 in. 10-spoke take-off wheels from SLP for $400. Currently running on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus 275/40 ZR17 tires. I also added tubular lower control arms and panhard bar, larger sway bars, Flowmaster cat-back exhaust, cast aluminum diff cover. Still a blast to drive. I've had it up to 125-135 mph a few of times. No tickets so far.

    This should have been a ten second video. The cons are so numerous that it's impossible for me to think of a pro.
    Yes, I had one. Eight Camaros, from 67 to 86 prior to owning that 93 piece of utter fucking trash. Worst car I ever owned. You people who like this car are crazy. Don't you get that this trash heap is what killed Camaro sales, thus killing the Camaro? I guess people were just smarter then.

    Back in the day Motor Trend did an Article comparing the 97' Z-28 LT1 to the 98 LS1 both with stock exhaust while the LT1 booms urgently the LS1 played a more delicate tune even though it had more torque, The setup of the LS1 with the aluminum block seemed to absorb more sound and make it a little bit quieter, They also commented on the 93 through 97 Corvette exhaust which is not nearly as throaty as the Z-28 of the same period ,the Vetts were tuned to be much quieter which doesn't make sense to me.

      You’d have to cut a little bit of the cowl to make a distributor work. With an automatic you’d need a trans controller with a carb setup.

      @@CarGuyV8 the cowl is the part of metal that the glass is mounted on right?. But from what I have heard the LT1 350 and the L31 share the same design except for the reverse Cooling except for that they share the same intake bolt pattern right ? .the L31 has the stronger 4 bolt main block 🤷🏽‍♂️

      I’d put a mild cam in it. CC503 or something similar. Also longtubes or midlengths. Those two things are lot harder to do once the engine is in the tight 4th Gen engine bay.

    The Berger panel meant something, in the 60s and 70s when they were new. That, Berger panel meant big block power.... Look it up, think Matt Berger or his dad was the first. So never was a fan of Berger panel 4th gen.

      Not bad i had a 96 Rs from 18-20. Then got an 02 Firehawk. Now rollin a 94 Z28. Your driving record will play into your cost, and what type of insurance you go with. I have comp on my Z with 24-7 roadside, and liability on my HHR daily driver.

    • @chaoslord8918
      @chaoslord8918 4 роки тому +1

      I'd recommend looking into broadform insurance, especially if you own or drive multiple vehicles. Broadform insures the driver, not the vehicle, and even covers you if you're driving someone else's car (as long as you have permission, that is ;)

    • @justinfbabay
      @justinfbabay 4 роки тому

      ChaosLord is that
      I like what they call a bond insurance? Thats what i had from like 18 to 22. Very good deal price wise, but if you have project car thats important to you, thats where it sucks because theres no coverage for it.

    • @chaoslord8918
      @chaoslord8918 4 роки тому

      @@justinfbabay I don't think it's bond insurance, (tho I'm not really sure what bond insurance is. Insurance is super-confusing by design, and I don't really get any of it, honestly). I think we're comparing apples and oranges tho. Broadform (or maybe it's "broad form") isn't the level of coverage like limited liability or comprehensive. It just insures the driver instead of a specific vehicle. I believe you can get full comprehensive coverage with broadform if you so choose.
      I personally just needed legal coverage, and when I switched from insuring just my Saturn SL to broadform, it only cost about $50 more for 6 months (so like $8/month more), which is a lot cheaper than covering two vehicles separately.
      The most important thing to remember tho... is to honk when you drive by Vern Fonk.
