Hi Mark! Just subscribed. I get questions all the time about algae. When it is especially mucky, yep... gotta drain and clean. I have had good luck this year with floating plants and a 40% shade cloth. I tell my friends never to overfeed the fish, but they don't understand how this leads to algae.

Hi Mark, I’d be really interested to know how you collected all the newts separately. We have a flexible liner lined pond with newts of all ages from tiny to mature adults and my biggest worry would be making sure all the newts are protected and returned after the cleaning process. We also have a pair of grass snakes which appear in our pond especially on very hot days.

Hey Mark hope you can help here. Just rebuilt my pond...needed too as mistakes were made with the original. Its currently cycling and has been for 5/6 weeks. When i put my arm in and take it out it appears the water smells like rubber. Any thoughts on why this could be?. Its not completely green but there is algae (single cell) makin it cliudy as on this pond i am not runing UV.
