Green water is a sign of excessive nutrients in the water column. If you have a fish pool then chemical filtration in the form of Ultra Violet Light (UV clarifier).

Hi, I have a very big wildlife pond, it’s been left to go wild, but unfortunately it is surrounded by trees which drop large amounts of leaves every year, it doesn’t get much light, gets covered over by duckweed and is fully overgrown with Elodea, it definitely needs a good clean and probably a net to stop leaves falling in but it supports an important ecosystem, what do you suggest?
If it was 7’ deep it would be a pool or a very large pond. What do you mean, what if the pond is 7 foot deep? Even more of a reason to not drain it. Net out the waste with a 8’-16’ long handle net (more designed for swimming pools)
I have a small pond that's big enough that I need waders. I bring a plastic baby pool in with me to dump the leaves and waste into while it floats next to me.
What if I have sand on the bottom of my carp pond? Should I remove leaves that sink to the bottom, every week with a pond net (filtering the sand clean), or should I leave them there for a longer time?
Install a large surface skimmer, to remove the leaves before they sink. But if not remove them as soon as you can. Clean playpit sand is a ok substate for a koi pond.
Got a steep-sided koi pond, almost 4 foot deep. Do I need to remove koi to holding tank. Will cheap paddle pool do? Some tosai sized. Also can u do vid on installing jets off a skimmer? Thx
Yes you can use a paddling pool, chemical free so you will be fine clean out and old water in the pool first then drain the pond water into the paddling pool. Remember to keep the water oxygenated

@@ThePondAdvisor ok cool thanks - how can you tell if it's lined or not through 1 foot of sludge?
@@stevebliss7042Does it have a natural clay or earth base? probably if a stream is running in all the time, your best bet might be wet dredge the pond, hire a poo lorry or a machine to dig out the sludge,
Hi, I have a very big wildlife pond, it’s been left to go wild, but unfortunately it is surrounded by trees which drop large amounts of leaves every year, it doesn’t get much light, gets covered over by duckweed and is fully overgrown with Elodea, it definitely needs a good clean and probably a net to stop leaves falling in but it supports an important ecosystem, what do you suggest?
Same as the other video comment lol am I seeing double. You could always install a skim cover or intake bay.
Great video
Thank you
How do you price a cleaning?
Based on experience, time onsite and travel
Just did this today. Not the nicest job, but not the worst either. Gotta wear socks next time, my feet were cold in the waders 😂
Awesome ❤video bro
Thank you so much 😀
What if the pond is 7 foot deep?
If it was 7’ deep it would be a pool or a very large pond. What do you mean, what if the pond is 7 foot deep? Even more of a reason to not drain it. Net out the waste with a 8’-16’ long handle net (more designed for swimming pools)
How do I remove string alge? Thanks.
No Face check out this video, ua-cam.com/video/HlLTypfzENI/v-deo.html
I have a small pond that's big enough that I need waders. I bring a plastic baby pool in with me to dump the leaves and waste into while it floats next to me.
What if I have sand on the bottom of my carp pond? Should I remove leaves that sink to the bottom, every week with a pond net (filtering the sand clean), or should I leave them there for a longer time?
Install a large surface skimmer, to remove the leaves before they sink. But if not remove them as soon as you can. Clean playpit sand is a ok substate for a koi pond.
of course ...if you can remove the leaves do it.
Is there any fish in the pond
R.Th. Veino Pao yep their are a few garden pond tree
Just liked and subbed !
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you
Got a steep-sided koi pond, almost 4 foot deep. Do I need to remove koi to holding tank. Will cheap paddle pool do? Some tosai sized. Also can u do vid on installing jets off a skimmer? Thx
You should not need to remove your koi. It’s their a lot of waste on the base of the pond?
Yes you can use a paddling pool, chemical free so you will be fine clean out and old water in the pool first then drain the pond water into the paddling pool. Remember to keep the water oxygenated
In the U.S. here. I never thought of using a small kiddie pool to transfer the fish and pond water into. Thought I was going to need to buy a large stock tank which would take up space to store. Thanks!
I can’t find a filter so all the minnows in my indoor plastic pond died and the crayfish were eating them and possibly were the killers and now the pond smells terrible with no filter
Why can’t you find a filter? Minnows love lots of oxygen and movement in the water. What size is the indoor pond?
@@ThePondAdvisor it is a indoor pond about 4x2 feet by my guess and we need the correct pump to pump water into the water purification’s system my dad built that consists of the pump pumping water into the purifier and then the filter cleaning it and dispensing it into the pond
@@ThePondAdvisor I need the correct pump to pump the water into the purifier and I can’t find one
@@joemama1020 obviously you’re not trying hard enough . If you have sense enough to ask a question you should have sense enough to Google pond filters. Even a typical sponge filter is going to help the fish to breathe. Maybe you should sell whatever fish is hanging on for its life and get a plant instead
@@swhite8381 what I am looking for is a pump that fits this homemade water purification system that I didn’t even build but I requires a water pump that pumps the water into a pvc pipe and that can be the right size and do the job right because it is an old system and I can’t find any pumps that work
Hi
Can you assist me with pricing for desludging waste water ponds?
What do you want a price for, DIY or Professional. We can wet dredge or bio dredge
The Pond Advisor
Thank you for responding. I wanted a price(s) for big waste water ponds - municipal ponds about 1200 sqm by size . It was a tender and the closing date was yesterday.
Jobs a gud un, bet the view from the bench is fab in the summer
Big D thank you, yes it’s a lovely little pond with the sound of running water.
It would be great if you could get the sound to be better. The volume of voice to background noise and wind is so quiet, it's hard to listen to the vids. There are furry mic's that soften the wind noises.
Thanks for the feedback,
That was more like,"How to trim your pond plants". Cleaning your pond means,"Siphon vacuum dead leaves, uneaten food, fish waste, and roots bottom of the pond". *coughs* 🙄😏😌 There... Done and done! 😎😤
Thought you were a pond contractor, why have you got a pond vacuum
Thank you lol
Do yourself and others a huge favor and get maybe 1000 fresh water clams. They are only as big as my thumbnail but are constantly consuming all kinds of wastes. This is their only food. They will keep your water clean and feed small fish too. I have had my 9 Gold Fish for about 3 years and I have yet to feed them anything. I have no pump or filter and no bubblier, yet they are still alive, healthy and fit. The water is clear to the bottom as long as I don't let the water Hyacinths take over. Works for me!
Sound like you have a balanced system, we have had many problems with them in the UK 🇬🇧, I have tried and tried. Sound like the water hyacinths are also doing a great job. They are banned he in the UK
didn't really show the viewer what he did on such a fast overview with no instructions of what was done, other than use a net. Not great, sorry
Thanks for the feedback, have you seen any off my other pond maintenance videos?
That is not a pond. That is a puddle.
Some would say it’s an in land sea 🌊
@@ThePondAdvisor nobody would say that. Maybe the foreskin of a river. 😆 🤣 😂
