Thanks for the video it helped me get my upgrades done in 15 minutes! I lost one of the followers off the spring for about 5 minutes but luckily I found it. Thanks again!
Glad I could help!
Great video! Just picked up my G2S 2 days ago, haven’t taken it to the range yet but I ordered a replacement guide rod from lakeline with the gold tip. Looks awesome with my all black Taurus. Can’t wait to use it!
Did this to mine ...great low cost easy upgrades. Stay safe. Your video helped me install. Ty
Sweet video! Thanks for taking the time to upload this, it helped with seeing how the keepers came apart.
Again, thanks for a great video. I just installed the stainless recoil assembly and striker guide from Lakeline in no time. And yes I did apply a little bit of Hoppe's oil to the striker guide for a smooth fit. Carry on and carry safe!
I’ve well over 2k rounds through mine and haven’t had a single issue. Although I’d love to upgrade the guts to see if it feels different when firing . Great video not enough of these
Nice dude. I love mine i have put quite a few rounds thru mine as well and have only had 1 jam. I think it might have been because i was using cheap Russian steel case ammo.
I put the new guide rod in gold one from lake line and the slide feels so much smoother and way better than it did and I know I’m not imagining things
Had my second range day with mine the other day and the timing was way off since the first. Kept getting spent casings caught in the ejection spot, whilst the next round would attempt to feed and fail due to the spent one jamming it all up. It wasn't happening with every shot but it was happening intermittently, and enough to make me think I should at least replace the guide rod, so I got one I'm going to replace it with which should also reduce recoil.
Lakeline is a great option if you want factory specs. Of around 16lb guide rod spring. If you want a custom guide rod spring as well you can go with Galloway precision they offer 18lb and 20lb guide rods. And they are captured guide rods
Good video, but the second one I've seen where no one cleaned the firing pin channel before reassembling. Perfect time to do it.
Thanks got mine today in the mail. Checked this video to prepare for it while I waited
I’m changing mine for your exact reason haven’t put 100 rounds through it yet before I bought it I did not know it had a plastic striker guide and recoil spring but for about 40 bucks I can change all that love this gun
Excellent video! Short & sweet and right to the point without any bs. Great idea using the slide & inserting striker assembly backwards to disassemble/assemble! Gonna be ordering mine shortly.
Shoot safe my friend!
Thanks man!!
Thanks for this simple vid. I'm confident in my abilities but always love to see it. Making it more dependable just cause I can lol.
Used your G2c tutorial to replace my G3cs Lakeline striker guide. Did it in under 10 minutes thanks to your video. Guess it doesn't matter which way the larger spring goes back in as I forgot to check beforehand but it all seems to function fine so my guess is it's the same either direction.
Wait ✋ it could be liable to fire backward if striker spring direction installed in reverse or opposite direction, you'd better be sure man..
....🤨😆
@@Roboticdoughbull3k Ha ha
This is a good video if you're on a budget but if you have the funds for about a hundred bucks you can get a replacement guide rod and Striker assembly and just drop them both in a lot faster
Loaded mag in the work area?
Very good 👍🏻
I'm subbing cause the video quality is good and mostly the channel name lol
After installing the lakeline on my PT111 G2 and the trigger stopped working consistently. I had to reinstall the original red plastic striker guide. Sent an email and they had no useful recommendations.
Thank You so much...worked easily in less than 5 minutes.
nice up grades but change that trigger I installed a "just tinkering" trigger for my taurus g2c for $30 on ebay and the guy offers about 8 different style of triggers. The only reason I say this is due to the safety blade on the oem trigger being plastic and mine finally broke. Also you will notice a big difference in the travel as well.
Keep tinkering but yeah he makes a mean trigger it completely changed the whole feel of the gun. I love it now.
Thank you for the video! I've watched a few before this one. How did you get those keepers in with gloves on? I'd have so much trouble in them! Lol! My main question is when I put everything together in the top frame together, I noticed the firing pin is just shy of coming out the hole where the bullet would be striked? Maybe when the trigger is pulled it pushes the firing pin out more but just by pushing it on the striker rod from the underside it looks like it would not strike the bullet? I haven't fired a bullet yet at the range. But just asking if you noticed this? Any reply helps thanks!
TELL ME ... if you did these 2 upgrades, what difference did it make compared to the factory parts ANY?
I wanta do this to my g2c. I color filled the lettering white and i got a new rear sight from lake line on the way. The stock adjustable one doesn't keep adjustment is loose and moves around don't like it
Does the stainless striker guide actually make the trigger feel better/different in any way? If it does do you know why it being stainless instead of plastic would make that difference?
Yes i got the gold one it makes it feels so much smoother and better hard to explain but if you get a metal one you will def notice the difference right away!
Ordered the striker guide rod.
Great video. Thank you. I'm upgrading my g2c and I've been looking for a titanium or alloy FIRING PIN and it seems like I can't find one anywhere?? Even Lakeline doesn't have it where I got my parts. By the way this is my favorite CCW. And just to let everybody know the ProMag 50 round drum is worth it, you just have to put a piece of Gorilla tape at the bottom front of the drum above the spacer and its solid.
Did replacing the striker guide improve or even out the trigger pull sir?
Ehhh, I would say ever so slightly.
this past weekend my g2c firing pin wasnt hitting the primer on the bullet hard enough and wasnt shooting. my g2c is all stock. will this make my firing pin hit the primer harder? will it help with that issue? if i replace both the striker guide and guide rod?
update, i just took apart my pistol, and those tabs were broken.
What tabs? And how many rounds have u put through it
do not oil striker or assembly. fyi So, whats the reason for needing a metal striker guide? my 365 has a plastic one and all of the xd's ive ever had were plastic.
Procedure is essentially the same for the new G3C.....except Taurus eliminated the keyed slide lock feature from this generation so no worries there
Nice job. My wife just picked up a G2c yesterday. I will be ordering both parts today. Do you know of a slide release upgrade? That button blows
Right! It's super hard to depress
Just a thought. I think these slide releases are tough because of the mag spring tension on it. Take the mag out and drop the slide then. I’m betting it’s a hundred times easier. Same if you lock the slide back THEN insert a mag TGEN drop the release. Also betting it’s easier then. The only variable left is the upward pressure from the mag spring.
Look in your manual ... it's not a slide release
Take it apart and oil it. Thank me later
Will the G2c 9mm parts work with the 40 S&W?
I wonder if that spring retainer could be replaced by a stainlees steel one, like the custom ones made for glocks.
Lakeline offers stainless steel retainers now
How often should the firing pin be cleaned?
Depends on how much you shoot
What weight guide rod did you select, there are 2 options, 16 and 18
Part of the instructions said to drill a little. You didn't need to do that?
No sir, it was a direct fit for me!
In my just bought (new) Taurus G2C I can't remove the back plate to take the firing pin out.. it seems to be fixed or glued... is there any explanation for this? Thank you!
Me too I had to brake it n I also cut my fingers hard
to those reading.. DO NOT PUT OIL IN STRIKER ASSEMBLLY!!! It attracts more dirt and fowling.
It's all subjective, although I would say if that's the argument here, then might as well not oil any part of it as the oil will attract more grit and would foul the whole pistol. Plus with new metal parts moving inside the pistol, I feel like lubrication is a good call. Most manuals even say minor amounts of oil is okay, as long as it is not over saturated. I haven't had any issues oiling the striker assembly, so I'm gonna do it my way. You can do what you want with your pistols!
Agreed, oil in the striker channel is no bueno and can cause primer strike issues.
@@nyquil07na38 like I said, you do what you want with your firearm. The manual itself says to keep a light layer of oil on/in the firearm. I haven't had any issues, and my Taurus has had 500+ rounds put in it since this video😁
Replaced mine while watching Stargate SG1.
Nice video. It should how easy it is to replace that striker guide. Is the trigger lighter or less gritty?
It felt a little less gritty. However, I'm wanting to change the trigger assembly next😁. Just to have everything reinforced.
I'm new to the gun world and recently bought the g2c but what's Is the benefit of replacing the 2 parts
I know with spring guide rod , I believe the regular one that comes with the gun is a 16 pound spring and the stainless steel one is 18 pound spring so it does help reduce recoil and is a little more durable . But as far as the striker got assembly I have no idea but if I was going to replace my striker guide assembly , I would probably get a couple of new springs for firing pen ,I think they run about six bucks. However my gun has the stock ones in there and they’re doing fine but I would say down the line it would be maybe something fun to do, but if I replace a striker Assembly after three or 4000 rounds if I’m gonna put a stainless steel assembly in there I would probably get a couple of springs by that point but if somebody wants to do it right away in the first several hundred rounds or 1000 rounds I would probably say keep the same springs but if your gun is doing fine I wouldn’t worry about it I think the best one out of them to as the guard rod Spring being it has two more pounds of tension to it , so that would be the only thing I would say that would enhance performance? At least that’s what someone told me who was a gun smith , but the overall advice I have always gone with if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
I ordered both of these last night. Then I read that with the LL striker guide you can't lock the slide anymore because there's no hole in it. Is this a major issue or no big deal?
Your slide will still lock in the rear position when the magazine is depleted, you just cant use Taurus's slide lock feature. In a nutshell, it allows you to lock the slide without and additional hardware for storage/safety. As far as the cycling goes, it shouldn't affect it at all.
@@tadpoled9928 Awesome. I'm new to this gun and I just got a little confused. Thank you so much for the reply!!
@@LAIRDO- No problem man!!
@@tadpoled9928 are you talking about when you can rack the slide back and lock it without the mag feature? Can’t do it anymore with this mod?
You can still use the slide lock on the side of the gun. There is a cut out on the slide that is no where near the striker assembly. Your gun will still function 100% fine as intended.
This must be the day for great vids! Great! Where did you buy the parts and what was the cost!
I put the links in the video description 😁.
Having a difficult time seeing the part of the striker assembly that you press down with screwdriver.
Any noticeable differences with the upgrades?
In performance, slightly!
@@tadpoled9928 replacing the striker guide rod, would that possibly increase better force on for the firing pin into the primer?
Thx for the info.
Good video but never oil your striker
Whats the music in the background?
DJ Mark Campbell - Truckers Choice
I plan on replacing the recoil guide rod assembly and the striker guide with the stainless steel ones from Lakeline LLC. I have seen a lot of good reviews. Thinking about the Asmund short stroke trigger by Galloway. Has anyone had any hands on experience with this trigger?
I bought the galloway kit (trigger, guide rod, grips) trigger feels better compared to the OEM one. I didn't notice much of a short stroke but definitely feels better on the finger and a lot firmer. It's weird but it's one of those that you have to do to understand lol
I know this is a year later but keep tinkering makes a way better trigger
@@MLHMODZ Have one in my G2C. Love it. Have one on order for my G3C.
@@rkasper1 which one did you get? I got the pseudo backstrap sao. It was a mf to install because of the trigger spring and overall angle but it was worth it for sure it’s like a whole new gun.
@@MLHMODZ I got the "standard" trigger. Preferred the shape of it. I think that the restrike feature is just marketing crap. Almost no other firearm has it. I would rather have a shorter trigger pull.
Have these parts on order for my 3gc thanks for the video
No link's supplied I'm lazy
It dosen't help at all the plastic is fine and will hold up well and if have any problems they will fix it but with aftermarket parts it voids it out same for ruger they have plastic recoil spring guide and plastic around the striker on SR series but in owners manual same for Taurus it says 3rd party gun parts void out any warranty with gun repairs
Anyone know if it's the same process for the pt111 g2?
I'm pretty sure they are the same!
My G2C has "PT111 G2A" printed on the underside of the accessory rail, so yeah I'd guess the same. Great video, planning to mod mine with Lakeland parts!
Yes it is. I have a g2 and have done this multiple times to clean it.
Change the sights and trigger too, and then you'll have an even more reliable pistol for less than a glock.
What trigger upgrades is there?
@@evergreendreaming6130 look up "keep tinkering" or lakeline llc.
@@evergreendreaming6130 I have a keeptinkering trigger in my G2C. What a difference! In my opinion, it's the best upgrade you can do to this firearm. He is on ebay.
If you're going to replace the striker assembly with stainless steel, you need to upgrade the springs as well. They are not made to handle the additional inertia created by the extra weight of the stainless steel. Your springs are going to wear out prematurely and create reliability issues that may happen at the absolute worst time.
He doesn't need to replace the spring stop your lying dude.
Danielle that stainless piece doesn't move when firing. You need to upgrade your knowledge. Stop spreading false information.
Spring rod is simple the striker guide seems like way too many steps 🤣
Good how to video. On a safety note, don't keep live rounds in your work space.
Thats why I cleared the chamber first 😉
When I clean or work on my guns, I take all my ammo to my buddies house- which is 2 states east of me.
“The OEM parts are are kind of on the cheaper side, that’s not really my thing”
Buys the cheapest gun…
tiny pieces and gloves ? maybe not so much eh !
Why are you wearing gloves? Does your gun has the virus????
No🤣🤣, I just cleaned the barrel out with Hoppes cleaner before the video. That stuff makes my hands burn bad.
@@tadpoled9928 ok...just kidding, my opinion in references too the lakeline upgrades are a good choice, the firearm feels tight and potent ,just because the gun cost $200 doesnt mean its gonna perform cheap, in my own opinion, it's just a firearm that lacks the glocks name and price...its a very intimidating looking gun with upmost fire power....
@@knightrider3766 I agree man! I love this little gun!
Does the stainless guide make the slide safety inoperable, or the slide lock?
@@jasonbaez5965 The safety still is functional. However, the stainless striker guide prevents you from using Taurus's feature to lock out the slide and trigger simultaneously, as it does not have a cutout like the OEM guide does.
Geez, dude. Really bonehead idea to do this instructional video wearing black gloves.
No one is making you watch it man 🤣.
There are other videos if this one doesn't suit you🤷♂️
@Captsaison dude wtf is your problem?
