Cant help you with the parenthesis but i assume the line means you're supposed to hold the note over a measure or in one strum. There's a very good chance I'm wrong because I don't know much about tabs. My best advice is to just look it up :/
Parenthesis are ghost notes they are either to be played quietly or not at all depends the lines are called ties and means to play smoothly or in this case let the strings ring out until the count is over
