    • Sony Bravia X900F adva...
Created 2020-07-18. Compiled video of some enhanced settings that are not self explained. Following settings are shown: Motionflow (framerate that gives soap opera affect), clarity video noise reduction, Dolby dynamic range, sound output via optical (toslink) cable or HDMI ARC (audio return channel), & HDR (high dynamic range).
    Following recommended settings:
Motionflow=Standard 120hz (unless you really want no type of near soap opera affect then select True Cinema 24fps or Off)
    Clarity noise reduction=auto
    Dolby dynamic range=Standard
Dolby Digital plus output=Dolby digital (unless your audio system supports eARC, Atmos, DTS:X, or Dolby Digital plus over HDMI then use "Dolby digital plus")
HDR=auto (do not force this on. It will discolor SDR or non-HDR content)
    Sony Bravia XBR X900F 65 4k LED (2018).
HDMI 2.0b port used for ARC.
Using High speed HDMI category 2 with ethernet cable for ARC.
    Playstation 4 Pro.
    Pioneer AV receiver vsx-521-k. {it supports Dolby True HD & DTS-HD Master audio decoders found on most bluray movies. Yet since TV only let's me output over HDMI ARC "dolby digital" I only get standard 5.1 Dolby/DTS audio over surround sound speakers. When TV set to output in "Dolby digital plus" I get static over HDMI ARC or no audio using Optical (toslink) cable to receiver.}
Connection path: PlayStation 4 ≥VR model 2 hdmi box ≥ high speed hdmi category 2 (18gb/s) with ethernet cable ≥ Sony TV port #2 ≥ TV output/input port#3 high speed hdmi category 2 (not 18gb/s) with ethernet ≥ Pioneer AV receiver model VSX-521-K (2011).
Update (2020-08-04). Found out my video was removed. No idea when or why it happen. No notification or email of the cause. May make a shorter video in future if not details are above of the video.
Update (2021-01-06). Found another hidden setting for 4k & this affects audio. If you have 4k bluray player, game console does 4k HDR or streaming stick (Chromecast ultra, Google TV, Fire stick 4k, etc) plugged in via HDMI then go to Home settings ≥ Watching TV≥ External inputs≥ HDMI signal format≥ and change to "Enhanced format". Standard only lets you get 4k (2160p) with no HDR & 1080p with HDR. Enhanced enables 2.0 hdmi giving you 4k with HDR at 60hz, but only through HDMI input 2 & 3. This does not affect built in streaming apps on TV as those don't use hdmi and are able to get 4k with HDR with 25 mbps Internet.
Now turning this Enhanced format affected my audio output through ARC. For some odd reason 50% of time I turn on receiver/amplifier it loses HDMI control sync and no audio through HDMI ARC. I have to disable "Enhanced format", turn off/on "Sound mode sync", turn TV/Receiver off then back on. Then enable "Enhanced format" again. I tried other work arounds which help but again had to disable/enable features again.
Thus for me to keep 4k with HDR through HDMI and since I have an old 2011 receiver I had to switch back to only using optical (toslink) audio cable output from TV. If you have a soundbar or this issue do the following. On receiver/soundbar turn off ARC but leave system on. On TV go Home settings≥ Display and sound≥ Audio output≥ Speakers≥ change to "Audio system". Check soundbar/receiver set to optical cable input. Turn off soundbar/receiver. On TV go Action menu≥ Speakers≥ change to "TV speakers". This allows you to use TV speakers only. Change to "Audio system" then turn on soundbar/receiver to use sound system. Additional TV audio setting has to be changed on each HDMI input and internal apps (just open any one streaming app Netflix, Hulu). On remote go Action menu≥ Sound adjustment≥ Volume level≥ Dolby Dynamic range≥ "Compressed". This boost audio level but you do not have to change this. On your bluray/console change audio setting to bitstream (Dolby or DTS). I recommend Dolby as some games (Resogun on PS4) & some video use only 5.1 on Dolby bitstream and 2.0 on DTS bitstream. PCM audio through optical cable will only get you 2.0 stereo sound.
One other issue. After switching to optical cable output from TV my internal TV apps only output PCM (Disney +) to my receiver so only getting 2.0 stereo sound and not 5.1 Dolby digital or DTS.

The best configuration to see dolby vision on sony x900f and the like. 1- download the latest android 9 update. 2- restore the dolby vision video settings to the factory settings. 3- go to advanced settings and set the local dimming on high and contract dynamics on low. 4- set the color temperature to neutral and set the color to 55. Last step set the creation of reality to auto to increase the detail in the image. Image quality will look like never before.

I did several tests and just to clarify at what point to change picture advance settings. 1) First open an internal app (Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max). 2) Do not go to Picture settings yet as changing those will affect all apps video settings for normal playback (non-HDR content). 3) While in the app, start playing a video that has Dolby Vision. Wait a few seconds, pause video, then open picture settings. It should say Dolby Vision picture mode is on. 4a) Now you can adjust Advance picture settings which affects only Dolby Vision video. 4b) You need to do same for any HDR10 video and change Advance picture settings while video is paused.
Thanks for feedback as I notice RGB colors on Dolby Vision look brighter and dark scenes look crispier.
