- In this video I show you how I got a title for my Pinto that I bought with no title. I did it using the Vermont Loophole. It is completely legal and legit. Watch the video to see exactly how to do it from start to finish.

I had a Illinois van moved to florida went to register it in Florida and it was $5'000 title transfer fee .blew my mind the van was not worth that much . Then i got pulled over 2 weeks after i got my florida plates and registration . Cops claimed the van was stolen witch it was not and seized the van . Took me a month to prove to the court that i was the owner and get a relese from impound witch was $250 and went to get the van to find out the police had auctioned it off 3 days after they seized it . That was the day i learned that cops are criminals and the system is corrupt.
Obviously no one claimed that it was stolen. It's Civil Asset Forfeiture. Modern day cartel system
I had a small piece of land and a man bought the land next door. He was bribing code enforcement and tried to put a lean on it and take it from me. They were constantly spying on me and had cameras looking at me. I moved. The police would do nothing . Yes corrupt!
Didn't Vermont just close the lupe hole in July?
Didn’t the put a stop to this just recently??? Know of any other route to take?
I heard those same rumors when I began the process. It’s worth a shot anyways. You’ll know as soon as your check clears or gets returned.
@@TexasHillbillythis helps. I heard a 50/50 shot at it
Absolute great video and down to earth walk through!! I have several vintage Honda motorcycles I've been looking into obtaining titles for. That's great! Blessings and respect!
Thanks man. I believe the registration fee is less for motorcycles. This would be an excellent avenue to attain titles for motorcycles.
@@TexasHillbilly my oldest is a 65' CB77 Superhawk. One of these days I'm going to have to give it a go. Especially now that I know Texas will accept it. Seems so much easier than a bonded title.
The loophole is no longer. As of July.
The "Vermont loophole" has been closed. I live near Phoenix, AZ, in Maricopa County, and ALL vehicles 1967 and newer must be emissions tested. My Pinto is a '72. Since I replaced my 2.0L 4 cylinder with a V8, it was no longer emissions legal. My solution to that problem was to insure it as a collector vehicle. Then I was able to register it without an emissions test. The insurance company puts a lot of restrictions on anything insured as a collector vehicle, but mileage is not one of them. You are not allowed to use it as a transportation vehicle, but I have done so a few times and gotten away with it. However, something like being involved in an accident in a grocery store parking lot could get you busted.
Yep. I’m glad I got to use it once before it closed.
Only residents of Vermont now
Vermont canceled the registration loop hole. I did use it twice before they canceled it .Oh well .
Yep, it’s a bummer. I’m glad I got to use it once at least.
What are the benefits of doing this for a car in California?
Getting a title….I’m not 100% sure you watched the video.
Did they send u back your forms for correction in a yellow envelope? Been a little more than 4 weeks and havent heard back at all. Wondering if it got lost in the mail.
Yes, it was my original forms with a printed required correction. I heard it can take more than a month. Has your check been processed? I hope you hear something soon.
Thanks for the video. I have a Q. If you will keep ur car in vermont, u need to do annusl inspection. Right??
Im not familiar with Vermont residents requirements. I’d assume you would need to do annual inspections except maybe if it’s registered as an antique/classic.
Thanks for explanation!
I got my plates still havent seen the stickers tho wondering if they got lost
You wont get stickers. You should've received an index card sized proof of registration. If you didn't, you can order a replacement here: secure.vermont.gov/dmv/express
Just was about to order a duplicate but they came in 🎉
They stopped doing it as of July, 29,2023
After receiving the Texas title did you mail back the tags to Vermont?
Nope, they’re hanging up in my shop now as reminders of this awesome loophole.
Did you send your bill of sale with the paperwork?
Nope.
I thought you can't do this anymore?¿?
Who specifically does the check get made out to ?os it just Vermont dmv?
If I recall, it was to Vermont DMV. I believe is says where to send the check to on the form mentioned in the video.
What if I don’t know the seller? Do I just put the original person on title , on seller part ?
Didn't you buy it from your dad/uncle/cousin/friend/coworker/etc.....and they never had the title either....
They closed the loophole as of July 1st
I’ll test it again next project sans title
where is asks for vermont drivers license number did you leave blank or put your state dl #? thanks
Yes, then in parenthesis put your state. Like this: ########(TX)
Did you have to have your VIN verified by a state agency down in Texas? How did you fill the VT-010?
I just searched my vehicles VIN through the NTSBs website to make sure it wasn't stolen before I started the process. On the VT-010 only fill out Section 1. It was pretty self explanatory, so I didn't include that in the video.
I’m going to try this today with my 68 f250. Wish me luck!
Unfortunately they stopped it in July. Can’t do it anymore
Did it work?
Do i tell the DMV you bought the vehicle In Vermont? Thank you
I stayed as vague as possible. I think they assumed I had previously lived in Vermont. It shouldn’t matter where it was bought. Just that it was registered in Vermont.
@@TexasHillbilly thank you
hey man, where do you get another copy of your registration, i believe my registration has been lost in the mail, i got my tags but i’ve waited 15 days and no registration has came in the mail
Same thing happened to me (except it did come in and I didn’t notice). Go onto Vermonts DMV website and search for proof of registration. It should be something like $17 to order a reprint.
@@TexasHillbilly do i have to fill out another form? and send it in with the $17
@@Motoblogs0231 no, just request a copy online. You pay the fee online. But make sure you didn’t already receive it. It should’ve come in before the plates. It’s about the size of an index card. Looks kind of like a voter registration card. The replacement copy should arrive in a week or so after requested.
It took me a while to find it. Try this link: secure.vermont.gov/dmv/express
Now the loophole is over 😢
So if the vehicle is newer will the Vermont DMV send the title in the mail?
That’s a great question. I don’t know if it will work on newer vehicles.
I did a 2006 Buick, not sure how newer you're talking but it worked on that car
15years old = old according to Vermont.
@@TexasHillbilly it worked for me, sent in a 2008 Cadillac earlier and it was sent back, about to send it back in, cause it was pending. The 08 Cadillac paperwork was lost, and I reached out to the auction I bought it from. Hope for some luck
Great to here the success stories!
FYI. Not every state will accept a Vermont transfer and issue a title. YMMV.
True.
Which states that you know of that won't?
I believe it doesn’t work in Ohio. Not sure the validity of that. I’ve also heard it won’t work in Texas and obviously that’s wrong. Best to talk to your local DMV. Just be sure to take a print out of Vermonts policy on “titles” for 15yr old and older vehicle.
i just did this and saw my check clear im waiting for everything, i figured you got denied because you didnt have the registration
How long did it take for ur check to clear?
I ended up passing on a 1982 280ZX with no title, the low value is $7,375 and average is $18,400. It would have been $442 to $1,104 just in the tax plus all the fees to transfer to Missouri.
I dont like that the DMVs use NADA value with no consideration of the vehicles condition. Bummer on the Z cars ridiculously high posted value.
Everybody says it doesnt work now
I think that is true. It’s a bummer.
@@TexasHillbilly im sad ,i was getting ready to use it on my 54 and 57 chevy trucks ive been building
I loves me some pintos had five of them in my lifetime but that’s not. Why am leaving you this message. I watched your video where you were putting your mother-in-law RV in the yard and you were hooking everything up. I have to tell you from experience do not leave the black water tank open. Only open it when you’re gonna dump it if you leave it open what happens is all of the liquids go out and all of the solids in your tank, then when all of the solids stack up your tank is blocked and nothing will drain and it cost me $850 to find out because it’s not cheap to have it unplugged. Good luck.
Hey Jeffery, that’s quite the stable of pintos! A new video will be posted soon on the second channel where I completely eliminate the black water tank and run a new toilet straight to my homes septic.
What texas town are you in?
I’m out in the country. Close to the Guadalupe and Medina rivers. If you watch closely, I’m sure you can figure out the nearest town.
I'm in San Antonio
What if you cant get ahold of the seller to sign this document? 😢
You gotta improvise….
@@TexasHillbilly💀
If you put antique on the Vermont paperwork, it's $23 instead of $76.
Hmm, I wonder if that would work.
@@TexasHillbilly I just sent my paperwork in last week so I'll keep you updated!! :)
@@bradjohnson6724 please do. Thanks!
@@bradjohnson6724did it work?
So my check just cleared yesterday so I believe it's a success!! They also emailed me last week with some additional questions rather than sending my packet back in the mail, which is also good news. I'll let y'all know when the tags and "title" come in the mail.
Been wanting to do this for my 82 Malibu wagon but NADA shows a low value of 4000!!
I love wagons! That should be $307 to Vermont. Not too bad to legally own it.
@@TexasHillbilly but I only paid $400 for it! 😂😂
@@lonnymay3997 I hear you. I only paid $800 for the Pinto so it was hard to fork out another $200, but hey….the value probably doubled.
⚠️ L O O P H O L E...I S...C L O S E D ⚠️
Problem is if your car is worth on the low end $25,000 you have to pay 6% of $25,000. Very expensive to do.
Thanks for watching! I did explain that exact scenario at the 3:36 mark.
Not as of July 6th 2023
I’ve heard all those rumors. I’d still try the Vermont loophole first. What is there to lose in trying? The cost of a stamp.
You can't do this anymore as,of 2023
Vermont doesn’t do it anymore, unfortunately 😢
