I've seen the Commander and button products before, but I never really knew all the stuff it could do. Once you showed that you could disable the auto-wiper-on-cruise irritation, I couldn't order it quickly enough! Thank you!
LOVE these long videos. Not that I necessarily want to disengage the wipers, but I love seeing you pick a part the 3. I always learn like ten things. Thank you for making them! Next thing to fix the three is installing a front bumper camera!
I very much enjoyed seeing how to disassemble things in the frunk and other places. I have had my 22 M3LR for over two years and the occasional single swipe just makes me smile. I cannot imagine doing all this work to beat that. I do appreciate the quality of your work.
Agree Rain-X can be a life saver. And I dislike the auto wipe smearing of bugs on my dry windshield. I would prefer an actual rain sensor, but these solutions have some merit.
Love the videos man, not an issue I have but, you finding the rubber gromet passthrough the firewall is excellent, as I was looking for a place to run a cable through for a front bumper camera! Keep up the good work!
Unrelated to the main point of this video, but thank you for giving me the idea of designing and printing a replacement panel for that area under the screen. I've been wanting to mount a bass knob for my aftermarket stereo but didn't want to permanently modify the original panel And I also thank you for that cabin temperature consistency test. I find myself constantly having to turn the temperature up or down by a degree or two to stay comfortable, which I never had to do in my last car, and was wondering if the problem might be insufficient airflow to the cabin temp sensor. Glad to at least be able to rule that out now
Nice concept and implementation. Although some viewers might think its a bit complex, the Model 3 and Y are actually pretty simple to pull trims and the like apart. They are well designed in that way. Nice work and great quality video. Thanks!
Curious about the HVAC Smell Issue? Possible to get a update or long term report how that is doing, and any further learnings? Curious how that clip on the bottom of the filter media is doing? Where is the moisture coming from that the clip is trying to avoid water collecting there specifically? How is the clip stopping the moisture collecting there, and is it working long term?
Possible someone can make or know where to get a Stand Alone real rain sensor module that could plug into the low voltage DC wiper motor, and user adjustable? Could easily make it a manual interrupt, similar to the video’s premise, to switch between the OEM hardware, and a aftermarket rain sensor controlled module.
I truly appreciate your explanation of why we have to use the auto wipers when using cruise control. It now makes sense why they cannot fix this issue of the wipers switching to auto mode when using cruise. They have to use auto. As a side note could you consider making a video on the after market anti nag devices. I really need to turn nag off with my driving style. Or if you have a better solution. I am tired of waiting for Tesla to fix or possible not be able to fix the nag.
@@michaelwittman1935 probably not something I'll cover. Tesla added it as a "safety feature" to ensure your hands are on the wheel. Ford, for example, I believe just tracks eye movements and doesn't require your hands to be on the wheel. They also have access to Tesla's supercharger network now.

Would it be possible to connect this wiring harness to a rain sensor? Leave the car in "full wipe" level 3 mode and simply allow a rain sensor to toggle it on and off quickly?
Zip tie at 14:28 is bad. I use F4 tape or wax string but the serrations against that insulation is going to short you out over time. …I learned the hard way.
How many miles do you suppose? Like if I was to make a video where I put a zip tied wire in a paint shaker, how long would it need to go before it wore through?
It’s the serrations on the inside of the zip tie against the insulation of that copper wire and why you see some buffer used between the 2 usually. Overall it depends on how tight it is and daily use vibrations. For example it is significantly worse/faster when doing stuff like this on airplanes.
